✨ ALL ABOUT GUARDIAN HOMES ✨

I often get asked “What in the world is a Guardian Home and why would you need one?”

🐾 We don’t have a kennel environment on our property. All our dogs and puppies are raised and live in our home, spending lots of time right in our living room and beds with us! Lots of reputable breeders have plenty of space and adequate housing for their dogs, but I personally am choosing for our dogs to be cherished family members where they can be in a warm, cozy home with a wonderful family from day one.

🐾 Re-Homing adult dogs is hard on the dog. It’s a very common practice by reputable breeders and I’m not saying it’s wrong. However, as someone who has gotten adult dogs before who have never been in a family/home setting and see minimal people, they really struggle. They can have issues with socialization, although not always, and can struggle adjusting. We want to be sure our mamas and papas have a loving family from the time they are a puppy all the way to years after they finish their breeding career.

🐾 Guardian Homes allow all our dogs one-on-one attention and training. In a Guardian Home, nothing slips between the cracks because they are the center of attention.

🐾 When we do have puppies here, we are able to put all our focus and energy on those newborns as well as taking care of their new mama. Raising puppies is not easy. We take no shortcuts and want to ensure when your new family member goes home they are ready. Guardian Homes allow us to do that.

✨ What we look for in a Guardian Home ✨

🐾 Previous dog ownership
🐾 Live within 2 hours of Smithland, IA
🐾 Provide basic grooming, training, and routine vet care
🐾 Feed a high quality dog food approved by us
🐾 Fenced in yards are preferred
🐾 Be flexible in bringing the dog to appointments or to us for various breeding related appointments/whelping
🐾 Be an advocate for our program

Meet ✨ Birdie ✨

Parson’s Little Fly Away Birdie ’s

This tiny girl is full of sass and s***k and has won over everyone’s heart! And those BABY BLUES 😍We are so grateful to have another puppy in our program! This girl is sure to give us some beautiful toy babies in the future 🐶

Birdie resides in a Gaurdian Home with The McFarland’s. They are an amazing family and friends of ours, and I know there is absolutely NO better home for her where she will get no shortage of love. Birdie even has a little boy of her own to love and grow up with ❤️🐶

Sometimes it just doesn’t work out.. and this one specifically has beenn really hard on me.

We got Luna over a year ago and just before we were getting ready to breed her for the first time, we discovered an underbite that seemingly came out of nowhere. It’s rare, but it happens.

I know a handful of breeders who would probably still breed her with how small it is, but to us, that’s not what we want for our program, our families and our puppies. Her puppies would have the potential for underbites and as an ethical breeder, it’s not something I will risk.

We love Luna, and as of now, she will be staying here with us. It’s very bittersweet for us because we can’t help but imagine what her pups would look like 😭. She is set to be spayed at the end of May once she turns 18 months.

With this, we will be aiming our program at Toy Aussies only, and will not have many Mini Aussie litters after Snoopy. Granted Snoopy’s puppies will all be smaller mini’s and possible larger toy’s.

No name yet, but how sweet is she?! No filter and no editing for this girl 😍

This little red tri girl comes to us from just like Heisman! Kathy raises some amazing babies and we are thrilled to have another Parson’s baby with us!

Pending all heath requirements, this girlie and Heisman will have our first ALL RED toy litter. Both are estimated to be 12” and we can’t wait 🤩

This litter has both Mini and Toy potential! We won’t know for sure what we have until they arrive.
