Greetings, I hope this finds you all well! Amidst the Covid-19 restrictions I wanted to give you all an update on how we’re operating, and any effects on you all!
Veterinary services are still considered essential, and I am still here for you and your animals.
There are a few changes that various veterinary associations have recommended and I am instituting to protect you, your animals, and myself.
The regulations are as follows:
1) If you are considered high risk, I ask that you have your animals caught prior to my arrival, and that you stay inside while I am on property. If you know in advance that you have an animal that is difficult to handle, please let me know, and I will try to bring someone to help me.
2) If you or someone in your household has respiratory symptoms or a fever (or is ill in some other capacity), please let me know and reschedule your appointment. If it is an emergency I will obviously still come see your animal, but I will ask that you have your animal contained in advance. I can speak with you over the phone during/after examination and bring someone to restrain for me as needed.
3) Even if you are not sick and not considered high risk, consider having your animals contained in advance and stay inside. At a minimum I am asking that we maintain a 6 foot distance as much as humanly possible.
4) Please limit the number of people that are present at visits.
If I become sick I will stop seeing calls, and work with other veterinarians in the area to get you and your animals the best care possible
Beyond normal biosecurity measures, I am wiping down my boxes and vehicle with disinfectant wipes between calls to protect myself, you, and your critters. I am trying to keep daily visits to different locations to a minimum (1-2 appointments per day), so that there is plenty of time to thoroughly clean equipment (and myself).
I know that now may seem like a good time to do routine care, because you are home. If your animals normally get their vaccines in April that’s true! As stated above, I am trying to do my part in limiting the number of people I am exposed to/are exposed to me. Initially veterinary care was limited to emergency/urgent appointments only, and I do not want to abuse the privilege to continue to see routine appointments. So please, if your animals are normally vaccinated later in the spring or in early summer, let’s schedule to vaccinate them then!
As always, I am happy to consult with you over the phone or via email, and if you have any questions at all please reach out to me!
Thank you all for being so understanding and helping me do my part in keeping our community healthy!
