While watching Mr. Bodie this week he is practicing place while I do some sweeping! His owners have put in so much work to condition his off-switch! I’m able to go into the kitchen and other parts of the home and he doesn’t move a muscle. Right before this he was running around in my pile🙄🤣🙌🏻

Cosmo was the type of dog would get affection from anyone who walked in the door. And he loved it! But would not leave guests alone when they wanted their personal space and would get extremely frustrated, vocal, and jump when he couldn’t get what he wanted.
Over the past month I have had his mom have Cosmo on leash in the house to implement spatial boundaries. Have specific, low-arousal, play and affection time throughout the day, as well as implementing decompression and relaxation .
Im proud to say Cosmo is a completely different dog than when I first met him.
He chooses relaxation and doesn’t come into my space unless invited. Im so proud of his mom for all of the hard work she has put into his training🙌🏻😊

JJ and BB have come such a long way…BB was shut down, would snap if I came close, and was really attached to mom. JJ had a bite history and was also fearful of new people but had a bit more confidence. Watching them grow over the past months has been so rewarding and is the sole reason I started dog training.

Now that they have the tools they need to succeed we say farewell until next time!

Dog fact: dogs cannot generalize

When you teach your dog something inside, they most likely will not perform the same way if you change locations and increase distractions too quickly.

So we start with easy criteria, in this case, low distraction hallway in the apartment building.

Whisper first learned place inside. Using this hallway helped whisper become successful in a new environment as well as build her confidence👀🙌🏻💯

Whisper would hurt herself in an attempt to greet other dogs and people out of frustration.

If your dog is allowed to greet everyone and every dog, they will build a ton of frustration when they are not able to greet someone.

Building engagement and practicing coexistence around people and dogs teaches Whisper that her dad is way more fun and helps her relax!🙌🏻
