This 2 y/o AQHA gelding had his first saddle & ride today!! First time ever seeing a saddle. Didn’t buck or hunch. Nothing!! He actually just starated randomly side passing away lol!! A good one right here ladies and gentleman.

Maeves VS tarp

I was out there alone today so didn’t get great film as you can see. Every time I’d get a tarp on her she bumped the panels which would cause my phone to fall off, so here is a quick clip of pretty much how it went. Should have some help out there tomorrow with me so they can video and y’all can see that LOL.

Somebody wanted to start off sassy from the get go today. So Maeves had herself a very VERY long day. Probably her best work out in over a month. Many more days like this to come!

Maeves & her new friends coming up for some grub this evening! Going to bring the tarp out tomorrow so that will be an exciting rodeo to watch! I’ll try and get it on record!! Her last tarp session went a little wild so I’m guessing the same experience this time at the beginning. We will see! 🙂

I have GOT to get miles to where I can pick up his feet. His poor front feet are 10/10 DISASTER ! I tried to get ahold of them yesterday before the rain but it just wasn’t happening all in one sitting. We worked on some general desensitizing instead, and going to progress twards the feet in the mean time.

That’s the look of accomplishment that Maeves let me pick up her feet by hand today!! She was such a doll 🧡 We are so close for being able to call the farrier out for the first time & not trying to kill him lol!!

Had some spare time yesterday to run errands after sending jethro on his way to his new home in Colorado. went and picked Maves up just because she needs trailer time really. She was still hesitant to load but a little coaxing from a feed sack behind her she stepped right in there. Set a large tire down in the front so she would have trouble just pacing and turning around a lot. I also tied her lead rope far enough to where she could reach down to the tire where I sat her feed bucket full of goodies in the middle. After she finished that she managed to turn around and stare at me like .... “So can I get out now” lol!

We also needed to bang out a dent in the fender of the trailer. It had been there since we bought it but we just didn’t really mess with fixing it until now so that was really exciting to see how she reacted to that. Every time sam would bang on the trailer to correct the dent maybes would kick randomly like it was getting her yet she was on the other end of the trailer lol! About 5 minutes into banging she decided that Sam wasn’t trying to get her haha ! She’s also been very fearful of cats and dogs. Where we are boarding there is a few barn cats that tend to walk around the horses. Maeves always shied away from them. Well I’m not going to put my personal cat in there with her haha, but I did have my two labs with me. My female Milly is in heat, and Grayson is with us at the moment trying to breed her. I shut the petition gate to separate Maeves and the dogs and let them hang out in the trailer together for about two hours. She could not take her eyes off of them for the longest. I guess her wild instincts told her dog (coyote) = danger. Finally she calmed and also learned that my two labs were not worried about her at all haha. It was a good day. Seems like she didn’t get much hands on time but all together learned a lot by just coming with us & watching. She stepped out of the trailer like a pro! Put her back in her paddock with a little extra grain & alfalfa as a treat. She was running around prancing happy to be back lol!

We’re getting some good rain & hail today so she got a day off, but back to work tomorrow!
