In 2023, thanks to your support, we distributed funds to help the Dunn County Humane Society Community Cats program, which sends spay and neuter teams throughout the area, including St. Croix County. By spaying and neutering just one male and one female cat, more than 2,000 unwanted births can be prevented.

Help us achieve even more in 2024. Your donation can be a lifeline for countless animals. 🐾

Cats need shelter from the cold, wind, and precipitation. Providing insulated outdoor shelters can be a lifesaver. These can be as simple as a wooden box with straw bedding or plastic tote with foam board insulation lining, ensuring it's elevated to avoid dampness. Shelter should be dry, windproof, and positioned away from direct drafts. Using blankets, towels, and old newspaper is not recommended as they will get damp or wet.

During the winter season, animal shelters across the nation find themselves grappling with a pressing issue: an influx of animals in need of warmth and care. AMHS is no exception to this challenge. As temperatures drop, well-intentioned individuals often bring in outdoor/stray cats they fear will freeze to death in the frigid conditions. While their intentions are undeniably compassionate, the sheer number of felines seeking refuge at AMHS can overwhelm the shelter's resources. We appreciate your patience while we work through our surrender wait list and if you currently have an outdoor cat you are waiting to bring in, here are a couple tips for helping them in the meantime:

Cats require more calories to stay warm in the winter, so consider feeding them nutritious food. Fresh water is essential, but it often freezes in cold temperatures. Use heated water bowls or refill them regularly to prevent freezing.
If you need assistance with caring for an animal that is on our surrender wait list, please let us know so we can help.

Our friends at Coco's Heart Dog Rescue need our help! Fosters and donations are in great need. Can you help?

This right here is why we all come together to do what we do. This is why we have to believe in miracles.....these beautiful souls have no other options.

We had to scramble to get 13 vehicles lined up to transport all of the animals saved. Thats more box cargo vans to rent, more transport volunteers to line up to dedicate their day (and night) to this rescue effort on the road, and more gas to pay for. We went into the rescue effort with 6 vehicles ready....but need 13! We are hoping to raise $10,000 on this post to help with these transport costs. We know it's a long shot....but our only options today have been long shots. In an extra long-shot we would be overjoyed to raise funding to cover the hotel rooms of those who arrived early to set up and stay to wrap up. These amazing people have dedicated all of their time to this rescue effort. Without their hard-working ethic and inspiring dedication there would have been no rescue effort.

We are overwhelmed in every way. This rescue effort is truly insane and monumental. We appreciate your support immensely.

Rescue is truly teamwork.

Find your Boo at Arnell Memorial Humane Society! These sweet faces have a lower adoption fee right now and are looking for loving homes!

Chief has been with us for 125 days as of today. In order to try to help him find his forever home, we're taking $1 off his adoption fee for every day he's been with us and since it's the last full week of National Adopt A Shelter Dog Month, we're lowering Mila and Babe's adoption fees as well. The three of them are now $150 each.

URGENT FOSTERS NEEDED ♥️ One of the largest needs we come across while rescuing dogs from these rural areas can be mothers with babies, and they’re always the hardest to find safety for.

Being a foster to a family of dogs can be challenging in many ways but we pride ourselves in having any supplies you could ever need to make the job easier, and always having emotional and educational support to get through it. Many fosters that “try it one time” often become regular litter fosters because of the rewarding experience and seeing these babies heal, gain weight and find their forever home.

If you’d like to experience this lifesaving gift of hope for a family in need please fill out a foster application. You will be connected to a whelping mentor able to help prepare you and answer any questions you may have before committing yourself to a family in need.

St Croix Animal Friends Adoption & Education Center, To Be Built in Roberts, WI (humane, no-kill shelter)

St Croix Animal friends is a Wisconsin-based, non profit holding a 501(c)(3) status. We were incorporated in 2006 and operate at the direction of a Board of Directors, and are supported by many dedicated volunteers.

Our main objective is to see to the welfare and humane treatment of ALL animals, but most importantly, homeless, abused, and neglected animals. With that goal in mind, we have steadily worked towards our goal of fundraising for many years with the purpose of building a humane adoption and education center, to be located in Roberts, Wisconsin. This facility will serve homeless animals from St Croix and Pierce counties.

With the purchase of our land complete, we have partnered with a well-known and respected designer and builder of animal facilities to make our vision a reality. Once the shelter is open and running, we will house dogs, cats, and small animals; we plan to offer valuable training and instruction to the public to further serve the animal community, and most important - bring the community together through awareness and advocation of animal welfare and rights.

We invite our neighbors and residents to join us in bringing this long-held mission to life...please, if you can donate, volunteer, or would like to explore a position on our board, we welcome a phone call or email. Thank you to all who have supported us through the years and continue to do so now!
