What do you see? A balanced canter with a little bit sloppy of a down transition. It doesn’t look very exciting, it looks actually quite polished. I’d say I see a talented young horse in the early development stages, which is very true.
What do I see? A horse that at one point in time made me question if I was the right one for him. A horse that has taken far more time than any other three year-old I’ve worked with and a horse that has so whole heartedly learned how to trust its rider that the second I picked up the canter, his whole body asked me if that was what I wanted and when I gave him a gentle hug with my legs to move on forward, he simply said “sounds good, let’s go!”
Looking at him now, there would be no reason to assume that he’s been anything but easy when in all reality he had his share of tricky moment. Which in all honesty, most horses do, but this one made me change my approach. Nothing makes me happier than being able to give a horse true confidence in their rider that we’re going to take care of them and that we are not going to put them in situations that they can’t handle. And I truly believe that this horse, with having the start that he’s had, will be able to accomplish anything he wants to in the future. A horse like this has all the talent in the world, but when talent is not paired with confidence, the talent can turn into chaos. I cannot wait to see where this talented horse will go in his future. Be ready world, Taco 🌮 is coming for you!
