Mr. Chips

On a beautiful fall day last week, we said goodbye to our beloved Mr. Chips. Originally purchased as a 5 year old to be Ron's driving horse, he became so much more. On his first day as a Carlson, he bit Vanessa, leading her to remark something along the lines of "I don't think I'm going to like this one". She was so very wrong. Chips quickly became a family and farm favorite, stealing hearts with his kind eye, cheerful disposition, big personality and joy for life. There was not a stall door latch he couldn't open, a treat he wouldn't eat, or a sunny spot he wouldn't lie down and take a nap in. He will be missed.

Congratulations to Helmut and Margret Schrant of Meadow Brook Farm on their lovely filly, Chiquita, by Wradar out of C’est Si Bon MBF by Frohwind out of C’est Noir by Cor Noir.

She received a Premium Foal award and a High Score Foal award at their recent ISR/Oldenburg N.A. inspection.

We have several big birthdays to celebrate this month, including three of our super seniors.

Mr Chips turned 25 last Sunday, Wiebekin (ET) by Der Radetzky out of Weibke turned 28 yesterday, and Witta by Wolkenstein out of Scara T by Star Regent turns 26 this Sunday.

Mr. Chips was Ron's driving horse and is known for being able to open any snap or stall door, taking marathon naps and loving everyone.

ET did dressage, driving and was the best mother of all time to her many foals (Fourth Dimension and Fendi by Frohwind, Wiebekka- now Queen's Court, Wiebella, Wiebok and Wretro Grayed, all by Wradar), as well as several foals belonging to other mares.

Witta was owner Barbara's personal riding horse as well as dam of Allouette, Allouette II, Allouette III (all three by Arrian) and Landstrider (by Liberty Gold). She also has several grandchildren but her favorite is Alischka WF by Wradar out of Allouette II.

All three are happily retired and enjoying it to the fullest.

We’re so proud of Double Agent WF by Dauphin out of Double Take WF by Frohwind and owner/rider Kay Kamish, Lexington WF by Liberty Gold out of EM Arriana by Arrian and owner/rider Mimi Benton, and Wretro Grayed WF by Wradar out of Wiebekin by Der Radetzky and owner/rider Molly Ralstin.

Emily took Alischka WF (by Wradar out of Allouette II WF by Arrian out of EM Witta) to her first rated hunter show over the weekend, earning their first reserve championship. We're very excited about this mare's future in the hunter ring!

Rohccoca WF went to Region 4 Championships over the weekend with Helmut Schrant of Meadow Brook Farm. She competed in the training and first level championships as well as the open show with scores to 70.972. Rohccoca WF is by Frohwind out of EM Roccoca WF by Rienzi. Known as Nugget to her Woodridge Farm family and Coco to her Meadow Brook Farm family, this young mare is a star and we’re all so excited to watch her progress.
