This page is for purposes of helping pets Lost or Found in Johnson Valley find their way home. ~~ The Hammers and surrounding Johnson Valley area are a home away from home for 1000's of off-road enthusiasts, race teams, and adventure seekers. Many bring dogs and other pets, who can suddenly become frightened or disoriented, no matter how well trained they are, or how many times they've been campin
g with their humans. SHARE THIS PAGE with friends, race teams, campers and others who may visit during KING OF THE HAMMERS week and throughout the year. If you, or someone you know, loses a pet out there... The information here may be useful. Network with others you know and we can hopefully help a few lost fur babies find their way home. ...................................................................
Pets of the Hammers is operated & funded solely through personal donations. No amount is too small, and every dollar is greatly appreciated!...................................................................
TIPS FOR USING THIS PAGE:
If you have LOST a pet --
Post PICS to the Lost & Found album, WITH AS MUCH DETAIL ABOUT YOUR PET AS POSSIBLE
Time, date and where the animal was lost. Does he come when his name is called? Is he friendly with kids/other animals? (this may help anyone who finds him to be at ease about bringing him into their home while they look for YOU)
If you have FOUND a pet --
SEARCH posts of LOST pets first… Look for PICS! Post pics of the FOUND pet in the Lost & Found album, as much detail as possible…
When and where was the animal found? Does he appear unharmed? Have you kept the animal with you or turned him into a local shelter? IF you kept him… Are you local or have you traveled home/out of the area? FOUND PETS -- WAYS YOU CAN HELP OFF-LINE
** IMPORTANT ** Visit the nearest veterinarian or shelter & have the pet scanned for a MICROCHIP. See the Area Clinics & Hospitals List for nearby options. File a FOUND PET REPORT with the Apple Valley Animal Shelter. If you plan to keep the found pet while the owner is located, file this report quickly and they will list it as a “citizen hold”. Apple Valley Animal Shelter will match FOUND PET REPORTS to owners who come in to the shelter in-person looking for a lost pet. File a FOUND PET REPORT with other agencies -- City of Hesperia Animal Shelter, Victor Valley Animal Protective League, Yucca Valley Animal Control. Place a FREE advertisement with the Victor Valley Daily Press in the Found section of the classifieds.
^^ A combination of these options often locates an owner. Please do not rely on Facebook alone, as not everyone uses social media.
