I came up with a creative activity your can make for your dog using items from 🌳DOLLAR TREE to provide excellent enrichment!

Think about this....
Dogs rarely have to really work for their food.
They don't have to hunt and forge for their next meal.
There is a lot to be said about a dog that works for his food. Also, a dog rarely gets tired just from the same walk around the block with the same sights daily. This activity changes things up a bit.

When your dog uses his nose it can help reduce stress and anxiety, helps to build confidence, encourages problems solving skills and allows your dog to indulge in and enjoy one of his natural instincts – hunting for things.

Suns out, tounges out!

Nash and Shaka enjoying a little ball play. We are transitioning to exercising our dogs either early morning or late evening.

Remember, don't feed your dog prior to or after heavy exercise. The general rule of thumb is one hour between exercise and feeding but for extra measures I wait two hours in between. Large breed and deep chested dogs a predispose to stomach bloat. Trust me when I say bloat is extremely traumatic for the dog and on the family.

To use it as your dog's new step platform to work on touching a target!

Enjoyed seeing Banks while I'm still in a process of recovery. Even on my worst days, dogs have a way of bring up my spirits! Almost 8 weeks post op and hoping to be back soon!

You see a bunch of colorful, fun toys you think your dog should be playing.

See, the toys are all right there in your dog's toy basket labeled in cute calligraphy with her name at the top. Plenty of options, you think, but why is she not playing with them?

Vibrant colors don't make toys engaging for dogs.

You know what DOES make toys engaging for dogs?

👉🏽 YOU! 👈🏾

When you engage your dog to play with you and the toys you around you, you are keeping your dog mentally healthy!

Playing with your dog really helps with the mental aspect of boredom and stimulates their brain.

Playing WITH your dog can help relieve their anxiety/stress.

One of the most important benefits of playing with your dog is that it will build and strength your dogs bond with you.

When it's hot, we love to take our dogs for a swim!
4 minutes of swimming is the same as one mile of running for dogs in terms of calories burned? Swimming is gentle on your dog’s joints, strengthens muscles that are not fully engage during walks and makes a great way to exercise an older dog or a dog recovering from an injury.

Anya was my last B&T before surgery.
I am healing well while Greg continues to train and in a few weeks I hope to be back out in the field training. It's messages like the one above that keep me encouraged.

We stumbled on this survival show where participants spend 10 in norther Maine wilderness with only their dog! The Human-Dog teams work together to gather limbs for shelter, forage for food and fish. What I love most is seeing the bonds strengthen. You can stream it on Disney+

How cool would it be if we were participants?!

The motto for 2022

These girls love their sweet pup Nahla but there was a lack of communication happening between them and her on the leash which resulted in reactivity when seeing other dogs and leash pulling.

Tish gave them some education on leash walking skills and they put them into use to make walks in the neighborhood more pleasant.
