Ride needed for baby opossum from Shelburne to Salisbury!
This tiny baby was the lone survivor when his mom was hit by a careless driver today. Thankfully, a compassionate couple were smart and proactive enough to immediately pull over and pick up the dying opossum and check her pouch for babies. All the others were mortally wounded by the car, but this little guy is doing well and is currently in the care of competent wildlife dispatcher Ellen until he can get a ride to rehabber Rose in Salisbury.
This is not an urgent request, but if anyone is headed this way and can give the little one a ride sometime today, that would be great!
Please first call Ellen at 1 (802) 578-7168 to arrange pickup, then call Rose at +1 (802) 352-4448 to arrange drop off.
Thank you for your compassion! Please share widely.
*This is a video of the actual baby who needs your help
PSA: If you see an opossum hit in the road this time of year, please safely pull over even if the opossum is dead, and check to see if the opossum has a pouch (female) and if so, whether there are babies inside. If so, gather them up, keep them warm and immediately call a wildlife rehabber. You could save 1-15 little lives 💕
URGENT: 7 orphaned baby skunks need a ride tomorrow (SUNDAY) from East Barre to rehabber Lia in Benson!
If you can do this life-saving ride, please first call the finder at 802-371-3162 to arrange pickup, then call Lia at 802-558-8240 to arrange drop off. Can you be a life saving hero?
Please share widely! Thank you so much for your compassion.
Rescued Hatchlings from Green Mountain Animal Defenders 2018 Hatchling Rescue Program.
Less than one week into GMAD's 2018 Hatchling Rescue Program, 3 chicks and 5 ducklings have been rescued so far. These 8 babies were all in critical condition, when Ellen Jareckie raced to pick them up at the farm-and-feed store where they had been delivered. Due to Ellen's knowledge and magic touch, they are all in stable condition now. It is unfortunate that they were shipped so early in the year, especially with the temperatures still dipping so low.
Splish-Splash, we're takin' a bath: Quack-quack!
Splish-Splash, We're Takin' a Bath: These duckings were rescued by GMAD and as you can see, they are having a blast in their rehabilitator/foster mom's tub. They are nearly back to health thanks to all the TLC from Cate & Ellen!
