Our recent rescue turns two today. Happy Birthday, Aliyanna. Thanks to all who support our work to get precious animals like her to safety. ❤️
Donkey Rescue Update...
The Good: Mom and baby (yep...they need names) are doing well both physically, emotionally and socially. They're interacting with volunteers, visitors and their new equine friends. They are loving all the space (about 100 times more than they originally had) and are enjoying all the grazing opportunities they'd be missing before.
The Bad: While both are healthy, the mom's hooves were worse than expected. We have her on Phenylbutazone (pain management) and have scheduled special sessions with our farrier. Of course, this will take time (probably a year) to get her balanced and in good shape.
Though we hit our initial goal of $1,250 (DONORS ROCK!!) we now need to increase the target to $1,550 to cover the additional treatments and medication. Again, thank ewe to all who've donated and we hope others will help these two new arrivals! ❤❤

We're looking forward to stampeding over to this Saturday's Jax Veg Fest which will be held from 10 - 4 at Riverside Park. Make sure to meet our newest rescues and see if we truly have our ducks in a row. Spoiler: We do for a brief moment at the end of the video. :P
Rescuing animals can be physically exhausting but more often it's emotionally draining. Yes, it's thrilling to know that an abandoned or abused or neglected animal will experience their "happily ever after" at the sanctuary. But, it's also frustrating to know that there's someone out there that abandoned or abused or neglected them.
These ducklings were Easter toys that were "thrown away" in a retention pond...dumped by someone who felt animals are disposable. Fortunately, an animal lover kayaked out to save them and reached out to us. Spoiler Alert: We said "yes".
You wouldn't think adding four more ducks is a big deal. Surprisingly, Purina duck feed is one of the more expensive (pound for pound) feeds we purchase. Yes, you read that correctly, we purchase our grain...it's never donated.
So, if you could throw a few bucks towards these "discarded toys" we (and them) would greatly appreciate it. <3

So thrilled that our newest rescue (a female piglet found running down a highway) is now safe and enjoying yummy food, safe shelter and good friends.
These "happily ever after" moments only happen when animal lovers...like you... donate to allow for us to transport, feed, medicate and house her (and others) for life. Please give to ensure this life-changing work can continue. ❤️🐷❤️

Pre-Ian Report: Conditions deteriorating as Ian approaches during morning feed. We expect it to get much worse in the next two hours but at least the ducks are thrilled! :P
Hemingway's celebrating #NationalVeganDay by chowing down on his favorite veggie. Sound up to hear the joy!!
Folks sometimes wonder if our rescued residents "remember" volunteers when they return back after an extended absence. Ashley is one of our female turkey's favorite humans (FYI...it's reciprocal) but Ashley was unable to be at the sanctuary for a couple of months.
Here's Emily's response to seeing Ashley again. Who says turkeys aren't caring, feeling beings who seek friendships, miss others when they're gone, and feel joy when reunited. <3
Looking to make new friends? Join us this Saturday, October 16 from 9:30am - 11:30am for our "Feeding Frenzy" volunteer session. Only four spots remain, so reserve your spot by sending us a message here on Facebook or emailing us at [email protected] right away. :)
From our mudhole to ewe, happy World Farm Animals Day. Hemingway and his pals hope to see y'all soon! <3
Just like every day...today, it's pool time for the ducks at CJ Acres Animal Rescue Farm. Thank ewe for volunteering to clean their bowls or donating to buy them! <3
When a fair shuts down, there's still work to do. The rides are dismantled...the grounds are cleaned up...and left behind items are sent to the Lost & Found office.
Unless, you're a duck. These two quackers found themselves homeless when the petting zoo moved on without them. Fortunately, they now have a new home with new friends.
Based on their vocalizations upon meeting their new flock, we think they approve of their new digs. <3
