Mimi and Suzie Q after microchipping...
Well, today was my day for traffic non pareil, Ugh. Everybody and their brothers AND sisters seemed to be on the road. We were high in the Hollywood Hills overlooking Mulholland Drive and, sadly, a smoggy haze had settled over the expanse of a great view of Los Angeles so a pretty pic was totally out of the question.
Nevertheless, and in spite of a lumber truck trying to maneuver its 4-car length flatbed down a two lane mountain road, we were on time to meet with Josephine & Eric, owners of two dancing terriers, Mimi and Suzie Q.
Suzie Q, a Miniature Schnauzer, right off the bat served as toastmaster. She gave me specific instructions on where to go, who I should or shouldn't talk to and where to sit - all this after demanding to know, quite verbally, who was I and what was my business there! So many interrogatories I could hardly catch my breath.
So, I started with Mimi, a Wheaten Terrier, while less talkative, was much more bouncy, trouncy, founcy, pouncy - and fun, fun, fun, fun, fun! She was ALLLLLLLLLL over the place and just a doll.
As usual, neither pup objected to the microchips implanted - I suspect it's because they were similarly astounded they were allowed up on the kitchen counter to have it done. Shock, awe, and disbelief intercepted their knowledge of being chipped.
Hmmmm, I'm kinda liking these Wheatens.....says me of many dogs. Somebody stop me!
Yes, it's been a busy day. 4th of July is coming!! After our visit to microchip So So, we hopped over to another town to chip LITTLE DADDY, an 11-month old Pittie. This dog is absurdly sweet (as I have found all the pitbulls I've chipped). As per his breed, face kissing was his standard meet-n-greet M.O.
This guy does not know what stand still means, and yet, ask him to sit and he's all over it! It's kind of pointless to say he didn't whimper when he was chipped because.....well.......he's a pit. What can I say? They never complain.
He has one blue eye and one green eye and his coat is smooth and soft, rather than coarse. And his "spots" - they are a rich brown mink color which make him really appealing.
Daddy was so sweet and accommodating towards all the other dogs in his household - it was kind of charming - I never did find out who ruled the roost there except to suspect it was this tiny Chi who was very vocal.
Little Daddy takes all the others in stride and blends beautifully with his "pack" which includes a poodle, another pittie, two 10-week old Chis, another Chi (besides Mr. Vocal) and a variety of breeds.
When I got home smelling of so many dogs, I got the "whiff-over", and then my own dogs decided they hated me and wrote me a note saying they were leaving me for someone more faithful.
Sigh.

Well, for those of you who didn't guess where I was today, it was Arcadia, home to the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden.
When you have a repeat client it's not always because they are replacing - but simply because saying NO to strays is just out of the question.
In this case, Christina Snider and her husband, Evan, got a little more than they expected when they found Dottie. Like about six times more.
So, meet Dottie and her two daughters, Groucho and Georgie. These girls are soooooooooooo sweet and buttery-soft! Can you tell which one is the Mom-Cat??
Poor Christina bears the brunt of being a "grandma" because two of the cats are Shoulder Perchers. Those of us who wear the battle scars on our bodies know what that means! Talon Stripes! The only blood shed today was my own for not being quick enough to avoid a deadly talon. Sigh.
All in all, none of the cats made a sound while getting each chip in spite of putting up considerable objections to being held still. Christina could give Rhonda Rousey a serious
run for her money! You only want the chip to go just underneath the skin so wiggling can be......problematic!
I must say that when filling out the pre-enrollment forms for the cats, Christina is precise down to the last whisker in describing the cats - and believe me, it goes a lonnnnnnnnnnnng way when helping to identify a lost pet. OH! And did i mention that the microchip is DOUBLE INSURANCE the kitties will be identified?
'Nuff said.
