Dr. Pagano checked off entering a dachshund race from her bucket list this past weekend with her 10 year old standard dachshund named Oscar! D & L Farm and Home-Denton put on their Annual Weiner Dog Race and it was a great turn out!
Oscar won this practice heat but forgot what to do for the real one 🤣 he still had fun though!
Yesterday was “National Bring your Cat to the Vet Day!” 🙌🏻🐱🎉 We all know that taking a cat to their veterinarian can be a stressful experience for everyone involved! This may even be a reason why your feline friend hasn’t been out of the house for a few years! We want to help! Cats are masters at hiding disease so regular vet visits are very important. 🩵 Listed below are some tips & tricks to help make the trip and appointment less stressful.
Even though a carrier can be a scary place for a cat, using one for transportation is very important to ensure they feel safe while in the car, keeping you safe while you are driving the vehicle, and to avoid them becoming spooked and running away! Often times cats associate their carrier with the animal clinic. Getting the carrier out more often and putting comfort items in it (ie. treats, toys and blankets) can make it feel like a safe space for them. Another tool that can be helpful is a calming pheromone such as our favorite, “Feliway”. It can reduce common signs of stress and comes in both a spray (for blankets and carriers) or a diffuser (to put in common area rooms). Some cats can also benefit from taking an anti-anxiety medication prior to the trip if their anxiety is more severe. If you’re interested in this option you can speak to your veterinary medical team to discuss recommendations. We hope this helps you and your fur-babies in time for their next vet visit!
