Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs.

Paws4Survival is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs. We provide veterinary care, shelter, and socialization in a daycare facility to prepare these dogs for adoption in the New York and New England area. Our strategic plan focuses on the town of Arroyo in the Southeastern part of the island, however we always help with pleas from l

ocal rescuers. Within Arroyo, there are two beach areas, Playa Chiropolis and Malecon in which we work to keep the dogs safe from animal control. Our volunteers provide basic shelter, food and water and care is provided until an opening in our program is available. Dogs that are not candidates for our program are captured for spay/neuter and returned to the beach to live under our care.

Frisky is currently in a foster home with lots of Puerto Rican cats and a dog from Aguada ... all the way :) As the warm weather approaches she is patiently waiting for her forever family to go on a lot of adventures with. She is 7 months, great with other animals and Frisky like her name ❤️😍

Tyson was on the at risk list after being surrendered when the teenagers in the house started roughhousing and he played back and was “deemed” too much to handle.
Tyson deteriorated in the kennel quickly and was extremely scared and shutting down.
A wonderful man Douglas lived over 4 hours away in PA and drove 8 hours to meet Tyson. A week later, he drove another 8 hours and Tyson was a different dog as soon as he got in the car. Douglas saw something in Tyson’s eyes and wasn’t giving up. Tyson and his new brother Zeus became fast friends.

Be like Douglas ! Without people in this world like Douglas, the Tyson’s of the world don’t stand a chance ! We need the public to help us foster to do the best we can… These are the victories, these are the celebrations, these are the saves that warm your heart and restore your faith in the human race.

The power of social media at its finest. The dog in this photo was pulled by the Puerto Rican police over 2 years ago for cruelty and neglect. She was adopted out to what we thought was an amazing family. 2 years passed and she was found listed on a page for adoption. Luckily, someone in our circle noticed and reached out.
A plan was quickly put into place and she is back with us.

Reminder , a rescue will never judge you for returning an animal to them, this dog had been through so much to be placed just anywhere or with anyone. The stars aligned for this dog but what happens when it doesn’t 🥲

Mom and babies made their way from Guayama to San Juan yesterday. We found out the owners of Diamonik Centro Mall had named them already and refers to them as the little angels.. here are their names. For anyone who suggested names and wants a sweatshirt please private message us your size and address.

This family is now safe from starvation, feral dog attacks, getting hit by cars and having parasites and diseases.

Thank you to everyone who donated. Tomorrow we will pick up momma and 7 puppies! Due to your support they will have two cages ! So the puppies can be placed together once weaned from mom, we also have a substantial amount of money left from your donations to pay their foster mom for care and food :)

So now we need a name for momma and 7 names for the pups, can you help us with that. A sweatshirt will be sent out to the person who has the best name for momma and for the 7 babies..

We are SO happy to get this family off the street.

The locals or feral dogs are already stealing her puppies. This is an area we focused on when our feet were more on the ground. Our shelter partners are at capacity, we have nowhere for her to go. If we could buy two of these kennels, we are allowed to place them on our partners property and save her tomorrow.

Please we need $500 this evening to get this family where they need to be. This week in Mass, we have 7 spay and neuter surgeries and an emergency surgery over the weekend which drained a substantial amount of money from our account.

Let’s get momma and babies safe off the streets. Exact location in PR will not be provided as her babies are already disappearing.

We can’t believe sweet lil Evie wasn’t settled in for Valentines Day with her new forever family, This pint size cutie at 6 pounds and 8 years old is pure perfection, great with dogs as small as her and lived with a German Shepard and loves cats.

Banksy is preparing for the cold weather after leaving the shelter and going into foster care.
Banksy is a 2 year old hairless prince that was surrendered to for not listening to no when his family told him not to do something. I guess they didn’t get the memo that’s not how to train a cat.

Banksy will be up for adoption shortly and is ready to love and cuddle under your covers ❤️

🚨 THIS IS DESPERATE—DOGS HAVE NOWHERE TO GO!🚨

We are completely out of space. Dogs are waiting, scared and helpless, with nowhere to go. Many have come from horrific situations—abandoned, neglected, or pulled from kill lists at overcrowded shelters. They have already been failed once. We refuse to fail them again—but we can’t do it without you.

Normally, when our fosters are full, our rescue’s president, Nicole, steps up without hesitation, taking in as many dogs as she can. But right now, her own beloved pup has been diagnosed with serious medical conditions, including cancer. She cannot risk adding stress to his environment, as it could negatively impact his health. Now, more than ever, we need others to step up.

Please, if you have ever considered fostering, do it now. We provide everything—you just give them a safe place to rest and feel loved.

We are running out of time. They are running out of time. These dogs deserve more than fear and uncertainty. They deserve love, warmth, and a chance at life. Please don’t look away. Please don’t assume someone else will help. It has to be you.

Sparky our recent sh*tzu from Puerto Rico enjoyed the as much as he enjoys watching and barking at the squirrels :)

Fun Fact: when you adopt a Puerto Rican pup, he or she has never seen a squirrel before, they are not native to the island. The closest species would be the mongoose who is nocturnal and very aggressive.

Everyone enjoy the Super Bowl .. Sparky doesn’t care who wins :)

Every girl needs a beautiful set of pearls especially this gentle giant.

Sweet Sister Francis is about 2 years old and 80 pounds. Francis had a tough beginning and is ready to put the past behind her. This Great Dane Mix is beyond sweet and loving and doesn’t mind other dogs or cats. A complete treasure ❤️.

Foca and Herbie

Foca is deaf and almost blind but that doesn’t stop our adoptable 2 year old mini doxie. Herbie is a recent neglect case we took from the at risk list. We need to stop giving pitbulls a bad rap,,, look at the love and fun in this video ❤️

We are late for the party as usual, so much going on, lack of volunteers , no paid employees… but our only wish for giving Tuesday is to pay our quarantine facility and cat shelter which averages 6k a month and we would love to pay it up front for the year. Today we get to call Annie. We are very excited to call Annie. Annie was admitted into a nursing home and had to surrender sweet Sacha to Save A Sato. Today we call her and let her know an amazing volunteer with the most glorious family will love and adore her in CT until we find her forever family. These are the moments we live for! People helping people, the kindness the world needs, the kindness all animals deserve.

Meet Tommy our 1 year old lover boy CH cat. Tommy’s CH is very mild as he can escape his exercise pen whenever he feels like it. Tommy loves others cats, adores human affection and is obsessed with each and every kind of wet food. Everyone meet Mildred. Mildred is 1 year of age and comes to us from our partner @saveasatopuertorico. Currently there are about 500+ cats in their care. In Puerto Rico, a CH cat has no chances of adoption. The island, the size of Connecticut, has an estimated 1 million cats on the streets. CH is Cerebellar Hypoplasia otherwise known as Wobbly Cat Syndrome. We would like everyone to know it is not contagious and it is not painful to the cat either. This typically occurs when a pregnant mom contracts certain viruses, is malnourished or has significant trauma while her babies are in the womb. Mildred needs that special family to love and adore her, we have no doubt she will find that. Her loving, playful spirit shines through her disability ❤️🇵🇷

As the dog days of summer come to an end, Canyon is looking for his family to hike, run and play catch with. Swimming to begin commence next year and he can help you close your pool :). Canyon is 3 years old, 40 pounds, fully vetted and loves dogs of all sizes and cats PLUS knows all his commands and is puuurrrfect. Don’t miss this handsome boy❤️
