Meet Princess Leia! 👑

As many of you know, we’re currently at capacity here at the sanctuary. But when Leia’s family reached out to us — having exhausted every other option — we knew we couldn’t say no. This sweet lamb wouldn’t have survived without us. 💔

Like our girl Menina, Leia was born with deformities in her front legs — likely a result of not enough space in the womb, which is common with multiple babies. This means Leia will need extra medical care, and she’s going to be a expensive little lamb to care for! Her spunky personality is already coming through, she keeps us laughing and on our toes everyday. We can’t wait to watch her grow up!! 🥹

Sweet Annabelle 🫶🏻🌻

We got Annabelle in 2022 as a sanctuary surrender. She was attacked by dogs and almost died from parasitic infections. We agreed to take in Annabelle and her friend Oz, and once here, she made a full recovery!! She absolutely loves being here at the sanctuary, but she loves being by Oz’s side even more 🌸💗

Want to intern at our farm animal sanctuary on Hawaii’s Big Island? 🐷🐐🐮🐥🐑🌈 Shared housing provided (work trade) - help needed ASAP!

Magical Creatures Sanctuary is a non-profit farm animal rescue and sanctuary located on the Big Island’s Hāmākua coast!! We were founded in 2018 and are now home to over 100 animals who were saved from slaughter, rescued from neglect, have special needs, or were orphaned or injured in the wild. We are completely volunteer-run and classified as a public charity under section 501(c)3. 🌿🫶🏼

We’re looking to fill two animal care intern roles starting NOW for either a 3 or 6 month stay! 🌟 Our interns live onsite in a shared yurt and are critical to keeping the sanctuary running and our residents happy and healthy. As an intern, you will focus on feeding, cleaning, and special needs enrichment, with opportunities to also join our veterinary, facilities, social media, or development teams! You get two days off a week to explore the island with transportation provided. 🌷🐱

✨🐖 HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY BEAN!! 🐖✨

We got piglet Bean mid last year when all of a sudden, he just showed up at the sanctuary following Honey! We think he escaped a neighboring yard. Although we tried numerous times to bring Bean back, this little man wouldn’t leave Honey’s side!! The two are absolutely best friends and enjoy their days snuggling in the mud and waiting for feeding times.

✨ NEW RESCUE ALERT! ✨

We received a call from a hunter who didn’t realize a sheep he killed had a baby. After realizing this mistake and seeing the baby, he contacted us to ensure little man has a safe, happy, and healthy life! 🐑🤍

We’ve decided to name him Lilo, meaning “little one.” He’s a mouflon sheep, approximately two weeks old. He absolutely loves cuddles and human attention, and has Nemo and Ekko as best friends too! 🐐🫶🏻🐑

🐖✨ HAPPY 7th BIRTHDAY KOJI!! 🐖✨

We rescued Koji in 2018 when he was dropped off at the humane society. Nobody knows where he came from, but he’s pretty tame! We think he maybe escaped from a hog farm. He loves both the grassy and muddy pastures, and has a best friend - Bert (as seen in picture 3)!!
