We were so excited to have Storm meet Elena this week!!

Storm is a 10 month old black male who is being trained to be Elena's Diabetes Alert Dog. Special thanks to a good friend of Elena's who flew her from southern Wyoming to Cody for a daytrip. Storm's trainer, Jubilee, was able to do lots of public access training with Elena in town. It was a fantastic day!

These two sweeties are waiting for their Forever Home. Chocolate female and black male. They were born Christmas Day and are 3 months old. They've had their shots and are microchipped. For the past month or so, they've worked for all their meals and have a good foundation of obedience. Each of them has that wonderful Duty Dogs temperament that makes them faithful companions and mellow house dogs, but ready for the trail or the field.

It's not often that Duty Dogs has a surplus sale, but these four chocolate males need to find their Forever Homes. Two were born May 29 from Mocha and Maya; two were born June 8 from Mocha and Patty.

All have had two rounds of shots and are microchipped. They've had lots of loving from the Duty Dogs team. The litter is AKC registered and all parents have had genetic testing and hips cleared through PennHip.

Please share with your friends who are looking for an amazing companion to add to their family!

Another special day for Duty Dogs-- today Buddy begins his career with the Green River Police department.

His first seven months were spent with Duty Dogs learning basic obedience, public access, and socialization. Now Buddy will continue with his handler as they work as a team to refine his skills as a therapy dog.

One of his primary jobs will be to bring comfort to juvenile victims of trauma during the interview process and on the witness stand.

When he is a year old in November, the two of them will get his Therapy Dog certification and Buddy will be the first law enforcement therapy dog in Wyoming!

Buddy is training for his final placement in Green River this summer. He will be a therapy/facility dog serving their community.

Meet GRPD's new therapy dog, Buddy.

Buddy is a eleven-week-old Black Lab puppy who was born on November 13, 20. Buddy will be conducting his training with Duty Dogs out of Cody, Wyoming. Buddy will be in training for approximately three months. We may expect to have Buddy at the GRPD sometime in May. Det. Holzgrafe will travel to Cody to visit and work with Buddy during his stay. After Buddy arrives at the GRPD he will continue to work with Det. Holzgrafe in his training. Once Buddy reaches a year old he will then travel to Cheyenne and complete his certification as a therapy service dog.

For our family, Christmas is 100% about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yesterday as we watched Peppermint Patty whelp 7 healthy, perfect puppies totally dependent on her for everything, it reminded me that the God who created everything humbled Himself, left Heaven, and came to earth as a helpless baby to be taken care of by a young, teenage girl.

Birth is the beauty of Christmas. That helpless baby growing to be a sinless man, choosing death on an ugly cruel cross for my sin, and conquering death and rising again makes that beautiful birth transformational for you and me.

Merry Christmas from Duty Dogs!

One of the best parts of our business is placing service dogs in their forever homes. People always ask if it's hard to let them go after spending months with them. The answer is . . .no!

We have spent the first six months of Myles' life training him for this purpose-- to serve his handler D. He's never been "our" dog-- he's always been D's dog.

Seeing the union of the two and spending 24 hours with the family has been such a joy (the CA sunshine and In & Out burger were a definite bonus).

As Myles completes his formal training with Multipurpose K-9 and D working together, I am confident of their continued success as a team!

About Us

We know what it’s like to live with a health condition. Having a child diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at age four, we understand the middle-of-the-night-blood-checks, the plummeting blood sugars, and even that off-colored pallor accompanied by a glazed-over look in the eyes that causes a mother’s heart to pound out of her chest. Training dogs to assist in these life-threatening conditions is why we do what we do.

Living the diabetic life ourselves, we quickly saw the peace that a Diabetes Alert Dog (DAD) brings to a Type 1 individual or family. Upon experiencing this benefit, we launched Duty Dogs to serve the needs of other diabetics in the management of their own diabetic journey. Our focus is to breed and train DADs to help diabetics better manage their blood sugars, especially their lows.

As we learned more about service dog training we have branched into other areas including autism service dogs, therapy dogs, and Crohn's alert dogs. Our oldest daughter Hannah has also trained antler hunting dogs.

Jeremy got his first taste of training dogs in the 80’s when he assisted in the training of Schutzhund and narcotic dogs. Over the years, it has been very rewarding to train a number of dogs. Little did we know that these early experiences would eventually lead to our family of eight offering our own medical service dogs.
