At Verida Farm, the client's horse(s) will live and/or recuperate in a caring and quiet environment. There are 22 acres of open pasture for those who wish to have their horses live out full time and there are 12 12' x 12' stalls' for those who wish to have their horses stalled part of the day and for the lay-ups. Each stall has a solid grill front with a dutch rear door for your horse's comfort, v

isibility and ventilation. There are also two medical paddocks (50' x 50') for the recuperating equine. Verida Farm’s 24 hour on-site, conscientious and well-motivated staff provide greater safety and monitoring for the retired or recovering equine and peace of mind for the owner. Here at the farm every horse is treated and cared for as if they were the staff's own. Michele Oren, owner/manager of Verida Farm, has 30+ years of experience working with the off the track Thoroughbred and medical lay-ups. Her experience comes from obtaining a Thoroughbred race track trainer's license and working at Peterson and Smith Equine Clinic as head barn tech in Ocala, Florida. Michele then rounded out her equine career when she became a part of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF), which she pursued for 8 years. As a member of the TRF, Michele rescued the ex racehorse from slaughter and retrained them to be adopted into new homes for various disciplines. From these past experiences, Michele ventured into beginning a business of her own, Verida Farm, in 2009 where she has committed to provide conscientious, quality care to horses in need. The farm originated in Poughquag, New York, but now resides in Mertztown, Pennsylvania. Because of the quality care Verida Farm provides, 14 original clients moved with farm to its new location to continue with the care that has lead to Verida's reliable reputation. Where did the name come from? 'Verida' was created by Michele's father, Tom Brennan. When she was living in Kentucky, she needed a name for her farm there. "I called my father, the creative one, and after a couple of days he came up with 'Verida Farm'. Vermont for where I am from, and Florida for where my husband, Chip, is from."

This is an interesting article.
Thoughts?

The AAEP actually does not recommend cleaning sheaths.

By Ben Espy, DVM, DACT Question: I just bought my first horse—a gelding. My fellow barn mates tell me that I need to clean his sheath several times a year. Do I really need to do that, and, if so, how?&nbs...
