Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
SRC is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit rescue organization founded in the year 2003 whose purpose is to save homeless Our policy is to assure each dog we rescue receives necessary medical treatment from an SRC vet which is tailored to its needs and have it micro-chipped for its future protection. Once vetted, the rescue will spend a minimum of two weeks being evaluated in pre-qualified loving foster homes selected to assure that all its medical and emotional needs are met in preparation for adoption into a loving permanent approved applicant’s home suitable to each canine’s specific needs. Each potential home is thoroughly investigated by a vet reference and home visit once their application is reviewed and found satisfactory. This is in order to assure the adoptive home is well prepared to provide a stable environment for the remainder of the dog’s lifetime. All volunteers of this organization (up to 100 strong) are committed to assuring the best possible life for each canine saved from the horrific effects of abuse and neglect.
Many of these dogs are the victims of puppy mills, strays which were abandoned by uncaring persons, or even owners no longer financially able to provide for their beloved companions. These stringently monitored approval processes are conducted by our volunteers prior to placing any of these rescued dogs in adoptive homes. Once vetted and evaluated by SRC foster parents who have undergone this same approval process, these rescued canines can be adopted by persons within the states of NC, SC, TN, or VA who have satisfactorily completed our approval process. Follow-up checks are made for each of these adopted dogs during their natural lifetime plus SRC stands behind our adoptions and will reclaim or accept their return at any time during their lifetime with ample notice. SRC’s commitment to each rescued canine is only beginning when the rescued dog is brought into our safe haven. First, one of SRC ’s many approved veterinarians handle a thorough medical evaluation and address any medical needs the canine may have. Each rescued canine is given an examination, is de-wormed, given a heartworm blood evaluation, and scheduled for spay/neuter. Dentals are also provided for those who are deemed to have Grade III or above Dental Disease. The dog is also treated medically for any necessary ailments to assure their comfort and health which are deemed necessary by our vets. Surgeries such as bladder stone removal, necessary tumor removal, and occasionally even cataract removal have been performed to assure the best possible health of our rescued canines. Heart-worm positive dogs are given treatment for that condition. All these procedures are done upon our vets’ recommendations and are dependent on the health of the canine involved and the availability of finances at the time. It is against SRC policy to go into debt, so our nonprofit organization must depend on the donations of committed animal lovers to assist these deserving canines. Necessary vaccinations are always given according to state regulations. Every canine SRC takes into its safe-haven is also micro-chipped for its future protection. Since SRC’s inception in June, 2003, this organization has successfully rescued and rehomed more than 4700 amazing Schnauzers and Honorary Schnauzers to caring adoptive parents who have successfully gone through our approval process which includes an application, vet reference and home visit.
In addition, SRC makes a strong commitment to provide public education informing others about the importance of the Spay/Neuter Program for all animals and other forums of interest regarding health, nutrition, and pertinent canine issues. Information is provided on our website, by group emails, and newsletters to help all dog owners provide better care for their family companions
SRC has also conducted low cost micro-chip clinics for the public to help citizens that otherwise could not afford this service. SRC also maintains both a website and a page which provides educational information to help others learn how best to provide a healthy environment for their canine regardless of the breed they favor. There is an interest-line available for anyone that wants to receive informative emails so that SRC may keep the public informed about subjects that are relevant to today’s issues involving canines and their health and let them know about dogs in need. SRC also networks with other rescue organizations whenever possible to provide an organization that helps to meets the needs of homeless and needy canines all over the United States.
