I really debated on sharing this review but at the same time, I wanted to honor Shalvin. This is the hard side of pet sitting, while we have only had two pets pass in our care over 17 years, it is by far the HARDEST part of the job, losing pets that we grow to care for and love like our own. I am honored that his mom chose us to care for her kitties while she was away ♥ and as hard as it was, I am thankful I was there to be able to be with Shalvin in his last moments. I didn't know him long but he certainly wound himself into my heart!

I also wanted to give a huge shout out to Westerville Veterinary Clinic for taking such great care of not only Shalvin but myself as well. I highly recommend them for not only regular vet care but they have an excellent emergency staff as well.

Meet our sitter, Ayden!

Hi, I’m Ayden! I’ve been an animal-lover ever since I can remember. I’m going on my 3rd year of professional pet sitting, but have about 15 years of experience being responsible for my own animal crew.

I’ve seen and done it all for my pets, and will treat yours as my own. I am excited to get to know and hang out with your babies. We’re gonna be pals! P.s. my spirit animal is probably an orange cat ;)

Meet Olivia!

Hi there! My name is Olivia, and I have been a pet lover my whole life! I've always had a passion for dogs since I was a little kid! I've been a pet sitter since 2021. What started as part-time dog walking has turned into my full-time gig, and I couldn't be happier!

I have a mini sheepadoodle named Willow, who is my absolute world! My husband and I are high school sweethearts and we hope to have a baby in the near future! He is a dog lover like myself!

I can't wait to care for your fur babies and have a new furry friend.

It is truly mind-blowing how many outdated “training” methods are out there. If you are still punishing a puppy for using the bathroom inside, you are doing it wrong. Yelling, rubbing its face in it, pointing at it- this is all fruitless and just confuses the dog. Now they are afraid of you. Now they sneak and do it in corners when you aren’t paying attention. You created a new problem by handling the last one incorrectly.

Just as the graphic says, you have to take the pup out really often in the beginning. And then you need to praise the heck out of them when they DO go outside. Have treats on hand! Make it a celebration! Do it every single time. And just like any mammal out there, they need to go out first thing in the morning and after a meal. That’s just biology.

A veterinarian once told me that dogs are natural people pleasers. They want to make you happy. So when you’re yelling at them for not being able to control their bladder or knowing where they are supposed to go, just know that you are 1) damaging your relationship with your dog, and 2) not solving the problem either.

Several people mentioned they missed our holiday promotion, buy any gift card for $100 and receive an extra $25 per $100 spent, so we are rerunning it for the next week. There is no limit on this special, but we will only be running this special from today, 1/6/24-1/12/24. To buy a gift certificate, simply log into the portal, navigate to the invoices tab and click on Gift Certificate and purchase however much you would like. Big loss in the animal training world. Karen Pryor changed the landscape of training. RIP Karen.

Karen Pryor 1932-2025
Karen Pryor was one of the most influential people in animal training. She helped pioneer the movement that you could train animals without force. She authored dozens of books, and started the Karen Pryor Academy so that her methods could be taught to other aspiring trainers. Her life’s work enriched millions of human-animal relationships, and the dog training world wouldn’t be the same without her influence. Rest in peace, Karen, and thank you for all you’ve done

Get Fit With Your Pet!

Losing weight or getting in shape seems to be on just about every other person’s to-do list for the new year—and if it’s on yours, you may already have a great workout partner: your dog!

Just like humans, overweight pets are more likely to develop diabetes, osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, joint injuries, and cancer. According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, 59% of cats and 54% of dogs in the U.S. are overweight.

So now that you have the stats, here’s some tips to help you get fit together:

Measure your pet’s food to make sure you’re not overfeeding
Try interval walking/jogging with your dog instead of just a simple walk. You’ll both burn more calories and it makes the walk more interesting for your pet.
Play hide & seek with your dog. Put him in a “sit/stay”, hide somewhere in the house, then call your dog to you. Reward with small treats and praise when he finds you.
Spread meals out throughout the day (but make sure the total amount fed for the day is the correct amount)
Instead of a game of fetch, play “catch me” with your dog, rewarding him with the ball when he tags you.
Try agility! This obstacle-course-based activity is hugely fun for dogs and is quite a workout for their owners as well.
We can assist you in weight management for your pet and answer any questions you have about activity and exercise—just call us at 614-888-2100 to schedule an exam.

Today is National Pet Travel Safety Day! What pet gear do you never leave home without?

Here are some suggestions when it comes to traveling with your pet!

Tips for Traveling with Your Pet

Traveling with your pet can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it requires careful planning to ensure a smooth journey for you and your furry (or scaly) companion. Here are some essential tips to help you prepare:
1. Plan Ahead

Before you hit the road, confirm that your destination and accommodations are pet-friendly. Research pet policies at hotels, vacation rentals, or campgrounds, and check local regulations for pets, especially if traveling internationally.
2. Visit the Vet

Schedule a vet visit before your trip to ensure your pet is healthy and up to date on vaccinations. If you're flying, some airlines require a health certificate issued within a specific time frame before departure.
3. Pack Essentials

Create a packing list for your pet that includes:

Food and water, along with collapsible bowls
Medications and first-aid supplies
Leash, collar, and ID tags with updated contact information
Comfort items like their favorite toy or blanket
Waste bags, litter, or cleaning supplies for accidents

4. Choose the Right Carrier

For car or air travel, invest in a sturdy, well-ventilated carrier. The carrier should be large enough for your pet to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably. Secure it properly during the journey.
5. Prepare for Car Travel

If driving, keep your pet safe by securing them in a carrier or using a pet seatbelt. Take regular breaks for exercise and bathroom stops, and never leave your pet alone in a parked car, especially in extreme temperatures.
6. Know the Rules for Air Travel

If flying, review your airline’s pet policies, including carrier size requirements and in-cabin vs. cargo options. Some airlines have breed restrictions, so check ahead of time.
7. Keep Your Pet Comfortable

Stick to their routine as much as possible. Feed your pet a light meal a few hours before departure to avoid motion sickness. Bring familiar items to reduce stress and anxiety.
8. Prepare for Emergencies

Research veterinary clinics or emergency services at your destination. Have your pet's medical records, including vaccination history, readily accessible.
9. Respect Others

Be mindful of other travelers by keeping your pet under control and cleaning up after them. Not everyone is comfortable around animals, so practice good pet etiquette.

Traveling with your pet can strengthen your bond and create unforgettable memories. With proper preparation and care, your adventure together will be safe and enjoyable for both of you.

Safe travels! 🐾
