The Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center has been operating at full capacity for much of the year, providing care for numerous animals awaiting their forever homes. Among these are the "Marvel Kitten Trio"—Deadpool, Spider-Meow, and Rogue—who have been with the center since they were 4 weeks old and are now 3 months old.

Meet the Marvel Kitten Trio:
Deadpool: A black male kitten with white markings
Spider-Meow: A white male kitten with black spots
Rogue: A white female kitten with black and orange spots

During their extended stay in foster care, these kittens have been socialized in an office environment, becoming accustomed to various visitors and noises. They are known for their affectionate nature, making them great companions for families with children.

Fried Rice is finally free!!! Poor Fried Rice came to the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center several months ago in rough shape. She arrived with severe stomatitis, which required surgery to remove all her teeth. She was also full of fleas and lice and suffered from a bad case of feline herpes—a respiratory disease in cats. Just when she made it through all those issues, Fried Rice contracted ringworm and lost all the hair on her ear!

The Animal Center has been running at full capacity for months, so Fried Rice couldn’t be quarantined at the shelter, and all the foster homes already had cats (some also with ringworm). In the end, we decided to keep Fried Rice in the FACF office, hoping a foster home would open up. Unfortunately, the foster homes continued to fill with other sick or infected cats, so she stayed here with us while receiving her treatments and medications.

We can’t thank our donors enough for supporting cats like Fried Rice. To be honest, she was quite the mess—no teeth, sick, covered in bugs—yet she still received the treatment she deserved. After $2,000 in medical care and months in quarantine, she’s FINALLY ready to find a home of her own. We can’t express in words how sweet this cat is. She loves life and wants nothing more than to be loved and petted. It was heart-wrenching to visit her only to clean and medicate her, knowing she just wanted to be held and loved 🥹

Stephanie’s dedication goes beyond her role with us – she’s active in community service projects with her Rotary club, supports women in business and leadership groups, and mentors students at the University of Iowa and Kirkwood Workplace Learning. 🌟An ICAC Success Story!🌟 Thanks to your generous donations, TicTac, who arrived covered in over 60 ticks and battling heartworm, received the $1,000 treatment he needed. Now, he’s healthy and happily adopted! 🐾💖 Your support truly saves lives—thank you for making a difference at the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center! 🐶💖

We are so thankful for donors like you who saved TicTac's life. Heartworm treatment is very expensive and must be administered slowly over several months. The treatments are incredibly hard on their hearts and require strict bed rest, meaning Tictac wasn't allowed off-leash or able to run for several months. It's a tough journey for them and likely very confusing, but he made it, and we’re so glad he did!
