The Brandywine Valley SPCA leads the way in no-kill open admission sheltering with progressive programs and services. Founded in 1929, the BVSPCA is the first open admission shelter in Pennsylvania to achieve no-kill status and serves as the only open admission shelter in both Chester and Delaware Counties. In Delaware, the BVSPCA is the largest animal welfare organization and the only no-kill ope

n admission shelter, providing state-wide care for lost and found dogs. In 2018, the BVSPCA led Delaware to becoming the first no-kill state in the country.

📣 Free Delaware State Spay Days 📣
February is Spay and Neuter Awareness Month, and we are partnering with Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) to offer free dog and cat spay/neuter surgeries at Brandywine Valley SPCA Animal Health Centers in New Castle, Dover, and Georgetown during State Spay Days for qualifying Delaware residents.

To qualify for the low-income Spay & Neuter Program, members of the public must be Delaware residents 18 years of age or older; and participate in specific assistance programs. Visit https://fixedandfab.com/ to see if you qualify.

There's still time to sign up for VALENTINE PARENTS' NIGHT OUT! 💘 We're hoping your kid's valentine will be one of our adoptable animals! 🐶🐱 Parents' night out is a fun opportunity for your kids to spend time at the shelter while you and your special someone take time for yourselves. It's a win-win! Kids will cuddle adorable adoptables, make Valentines and treats for the shelter pets, learn cool animal facts, enjoy a pizza party, and watch an animal-themed movie. 🍕🎬 The party for kids aged 5-12 runs from 4-8 pm. Donation AND adoption SHOUTOUT! 😍 The Extended Stay Regional Manager, Cathy, organizes with her hotel managers to drop off all of their linens, sheets, and towels that they would otherwise throw away (after they've been washed) to one location for us to pick up. This past time, we picked up at the Extended Stay America Suites in Exton, but we've also picked up at the Extended Stay America in Malvern. Cathy oversees about eight different locations in our state, including some in Philadelphia. Two of their managers adopted from us! The Exton manager adopted a longtime resident cat, Skipper, and the Malvern manager adopted Chandler, now Jake. ❤

Hooray for Barkgarita finding her forever family this week! 🐶 This sweet girl was a staff and volunteer favorite at our New Castle Campus. Despite being found abandoned in an empty house with 5 other dogs, Barkgarita is one happy love bug! She loves to cuddle and seeks affection. When she gets it, she turns into a wigglebutt. She's a playful girl and makes the perfect companion. No wonder her family fell in love and decided to adopt her! 😍 We are thrilled that Barkgarita and all of these cuties are in loving homes and will be given the love and care they deserve. That surpassed last year's donation! What an inspiring and fully dedicated young man. He is truly an advocate for all animals.
