Our sweet little girl passed away Tuesday and it looks like she had confused heart failure.

Thank you to everyone who donated. She was so loved and was happy in the week we had her. All animals should feel and be loved and cared for.

We haven’t been able to take in any dogs for a while now because of lack of Foster’s, money, etc but when RAC called about this special needs pup I couldn’t say no.

She will need a lot of vet care for her eye, possible leg fracture, skin, and a possible eye removal so if you can please donate for Millies care.

The state of the animals in our community is heartbreaking. There are so many stray dogs and cats that we wish we could help but without foster homes to take them in, our hands are tied.

Please consider opening your home to a homeless starving dog or cat this holiday season.

Trying to help him find a new home. If you are looking to adopt, please let us know.

Please help me find a new home for Cheeto! I can not keep him.

This is a very hard post for me to make, but I am needing to rehome my dog.

He is 5 years old. House and kennel trained. He is fixed! He is a Rat terrier mix. Does not do well with small dogs but has no issue with larger dogs. Not sure about cats. He is amazing with older kids but not great with babies and small children. He would be an amazing dog for an older family looking to add to their family. He is about 10 to 15 pounds.

Will come with a kennel, dog food, blanket, and leash.

We are FOREVER in search of foster homes so we can help the large number of homeless dogs out there.

Without foster homes there is only so much we can do. I always have between 10 and 15 dogs at my house and my other fosters also have several of their own but are always willing to take another. Problem is, there just aren't enough of us!

After a few weeks in the animal shelter, I'm finally back where I belong – with my loving family.

You see, my human didn't even know that Ruston Animal Control had brought me here. But thanks to all of you amazing folks who shared and tagged my picture, my family spotted me on a shared post and rushed over to bring me home.

I can't put into words how happy and excited I am to be back in the arms of the people who mean the world to me. I've missed those belly rubs, tasty treats, and our long walks together so much!

Seniors need love too!! Punkin came to live with me as a hospice dog. We don't know how much time she has left but I know we are making it the best time of her life! She is loved and spoiled rotten! Since being here she has decided she is too good for dentasticks and only wants the good jerky! Please consider fostering or adopting a senior today! Road trip with Bowen

Our boy BOWEN, has been with us for over a year. He is such a good boy and just wants a family to call his very own. Took him on a Lil trip last night to Tractor Supply and he was in heaven. His hound nose wanted to smell everything!! His leash skills have improved immensely and got a HUGE pigs eat as a reward for doing so well. Fur Friends

Betty and Punkin have become great friends. Betty was scared of everything when we got her from animal control with her pups. 2 pups are left for adoption and Betty is coming out of her shell with some help from our sweet girl Punkin. For those of you who know our sweet Punkin, this is a big deal. Gator has brought out so much of her personality over the last couple months and it is amazing. Gator came to us only knowing his brother, but has since grown himself since he's been here. He is about 25lbs and is 5 years old. He is very ready for his forever family. Sweet Punkin

Why do we rescue? There are many reasons. Dogs deserve to be loved and treated like family. Punkin came to us broken and terrified of people. With lots of love and patience, she has come a very long way. She is an older dog which makes it harder for her to be adopted, but she will get all the care in the world while she's here. Her days are filled with hugs and kisses. Adriana sings to her while cuddling in her kennel with a plush blanket and her stuffed animal. She's the sweetest girl and deserves ever bit of being spoiled. That is why we rescue. They all deserve a chance.

Bowen and Jack

Bowen in our resident goofball! He is so good natured and when he's excited he bounces like a bunny rabbit. He does really well with all dogs, and he loves his new friend Jack. Jack came to us about 2 weeks ago from animal control. He is such a sweet baby boy and he also gets along with all the dogs. Bowen is ready for his forever home and is adoptable! Lowe's adventure with Ginger

Ginger and I got to spend part of the afternoon together. She was a little nervous when I got her in the car but when she realized it was to get that beautiful face shown she relaxed. She did so amazing at Lowe's! She gently greeted people with a smile and a real wag. She was outstanding walking next to me on the leash. Never pulling. On the way back to the rescue we got her some ice cream. I will post the pictures of our car ride separate. This gentle girl needs her forever home!

Leo and Pistol Annie

Dogs experience loss just like we do, they get sad and lonely. Pistol needed a friend and Leo who is such an old soul was just that friend! He knew something was missing and filled that spot for Pistol. Leo is one of our newest rescues here and he's about a year and half to 2 years old. Not only is he super sweet he is very gentle and mild tempered. He is so happy go lucky I don't think anything could damper his spirit, and he ready for his forever home! Good morning all! This beautiful girl is Ms. Ginger. She is about 3 years old and so sweet. She loves to sunbathe and is very quiet and content with her solitude. Who and Why?

The south is not all sweet tea and good manners. It is also pet overpopulation, a resistance to spay and neuter programs and the belief that animals are a possession not family. Like all places and all things, not everyone holds true to these actions but the ones that do seem to out number the ones that don’t. Simply Southern Rescue was born out of a need to help, to make a difference, to be a voice for the voiceless. Simply Southern Rescue believes all animals deserve equal compassion and assistance based on their need and not on their breed.

Leigh Ann Albritton, born and raised between Texas and Louisiana. She is never without a house full of foster cats and dogs, her own and fosters! She is also a full time volunteer at Ruston animal control, organizing fosters and rescues as well as driving transports.
