Whole Horse Hoof Care Patty Lynch Farrier Services Therapeutic, Balanced, Horseshoeing and Barefoot Trimming I’m Patty Lynch, owner of Whole Horse Hoof Care Farrier Services in Maryland.

My slogan is “Barefoot when possible, shoes when necessary.” I specialize in barefoot trims, EponaShoes, and care for foundered horses, and I also do more traditional shoeing. I’m a proponent of barefoot horses as long as the individual equine is comfortable without shoes. Barefoot is advantageous to the horse because the foot is in its natural state, contacting the ground as a proper weight beari

ng platform for the animal. Any time you can keep anything the way nature intended it, I believe it’s better. Shoes, when applied correctly, however, can compensate for what nature didn’t provide the animal. Today we have options to apply shoes that weren’t available before, such as adhesives, but any time you put a hole in something solid, you weaken it. Priorities should be taken into consideration for the goal of the horse. I assess the needs and conditions of each horse before deciding whether or not barefoot would be advantageous, including both internal and external factors. I strongly consider the anatomy of the foot in making my decision. If the horse would be better off without shoes, I again make a decision as to which trim will be best for the animal. I work with all breeds and types of equine, including mules, pleasure mounts, trail horses, hunter-jumpers, eventers, and dressage animals. Some are barefoot, some wear EponaShoes, and others wear more traditional metal shoes. It all depends on what is best for the individual horse.

Posture is key! Horses spend the majority of the day standing. Are they comfortable doing it?

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞: While we tend to focus on how a horse moves to try to figure out how he feels, maybe we need to look more at how he stands. New research is exploring what a horse’s posture says about his health. Here's the first thing they've uncovered. >>>https://bit.ly/EQPostureAndHealth

The top picture is the horse freshly done and the bottom pic is 5 weeks later. Same horse as previously posted. You can see the heels of the shoe migrate forward throughout the cycle. Where things start isn’t where they end up! This is why it’s important to start with enough to keep enough support through entire cycle

If you’re curious how hoof balance affects the body, this is one not to be missed!! The research quality that Yogi and his teams do is opening doors to horse comfort.

How is the hoof and nerve pain linked?

The link between hoof balance and neuropathy is complexed but important, and research into how nerve disfunction affects horse health and performance is still in its infancy. But is proving to be under-diagnosed and far more relevant than its given credit for.

Celeste presents her pioneering clinical experience on nerve impingement and we make logical links to hoof balance. I also delve into my research linking poor hind hoof balance with lumbo-sacral-iliac region pain and nerve dysfunction!

Don't miss this one folks. Recording..

Photos are so deceptive. One reason why I don’t post many anymore. It’s difficult enough to get an image of what I see, let alone two at the exact same references to compare. I still take them tho for histories on each horse I work on.

I don't know if there is another topic as complex as the hooves. To understand them well, you need not only to have mastered all the knowl...
