We had another memorable trip to Rex’s place in Kansas. Mason shot his first Kansas rooster, first quail, and also his first Canada goose. We enjoyed lots of good dog work, especially from Stewie. He has matured into a fantastic bird dog. I lost count of his covey finds, and he handled many spooky Kansas pheasants.

Fire had a busy weekend at the duck club. She helped blood trail a deer late into the night Friday. It would have been much quicker if I had trusted her nose when she took me in the “wrong” direction. Then we had a great duck hunt yesterday morning where she got lots of retrieves.

Yesterday we attended the Indiana/Michigan football game to see the IUPD K9s in their home environment. Both explosive detection dogs employed by IUPD came from our kennel. K9 Indy is from the 2018 breeding of Buddy/Mia and K9 Cash is from the 2021 breeding of Bear/Fire. Their handlers have done an excellent job with them and the dogs were completely at home in the chaos of a sold out college football game.

We were able to watch the game from the highest point and directly on the field. The locker room, weight room, and all of the facilities were amazing. K9 Indy was even recognized as the Hero of the Game while we were there. We are so proud of what these dogs have accomplished! Thank you to the IUPD K9 handlers for the unforgettable experience.

The annual North Dakota trip was a success. We had plenty of good dog work and enough birds to keep it interesting. The moose population seems to be growing, but we only had one close encounter.

Stewie won the Lasalle Brittany Club Horseback Amateur Gun Dog stake at this weekend’s trial. He covered the ground effectively and had some really nice bird work. Stewie is finally putting it all together and should be a competitive field trial dog in the future.

Miss Fiona is 6 weeks old today. She is enjoying some playtime outside chasing Reagan and exploring the grass.

Fire has returned from maternity leave and has started to get back into shape for hunting season.

Miss Fiona is 5 weeks old today and got her first taste of kibble. She loves coming inside and running around the house daily. Fire is doing a great job of teaching her manners.

Miss Fiona had a big week. She turned 4 weeks old and found her forever home. She also learned how to escape her whelping pen and is becoming more playful.

Miss Fiona is 3 weeks old weighing almost 5 lbs. This week she has been coming inside daily to run around and get some cuddles. Reagan has even been putting dresses on her. Fiona is still looking for a forever home. Contact us today for more details.

Opening Day of Dove Season 2024- We took Nadia out for a quick evening hunt and had some good shooting. Fun was had by all involved.

Upcoming Litter Anouncement- Fire has been bred to 4xGMPR HRCH BPK’s Rooster Rockin Rebel MH. Pups are due around August 1st. This breeding will produce excellent hunting dogs and family companions. Please contact us for details.

Desi Update (6 months)- She is showing a lot of drive and fearlessness. This was her intro to deep water and she did not hesitate swimming for the first time. Desi is ready for formal upland and retriever training. I delivered her to In Flight Retrievers this week to start down the path to a finished gun dog. She will return home for hunting season this Fall.

CPR Battlemtn’s For Whom The Bell Tolls (7/24/10-5/29/24)

Bella passed away this week at the age of 13. She was the foundation of our kennel and the best hunting dog I have ever owned. I have countless memories from traveling around the country with her hunting birds in new locations, as well as our favorite spots. She helped introduced Mason to upland hunting, and showed him what a good hunting dog should be. Bella produced over 40 puppies that went all over the U.S and Canada. She is the Grandmother of hundreds of pointing labs and will continue to impact the breed for some time. We will miss her.

Desi pointing a pigeon this morning. She is doing great!

Desi Update 10 weeks Old- She is retrieving reliably in the house and we are transitioning to outdoors with distractions. She has a lot of drive and loves to train. Introduction to live birds has been going well and she has started pointing birds. Desi is showing a lot of potential and is fitting in well with the family.
