Urgent Dogs of Palm Beach County A networking site providing exposure for dogs at our county open admission shelter PBC ACC FLORIDA Hours: M-F 11 - 6. Sat 10-5. Sun 11- 4.

We believe that every dog entering our county open admission shelter deserves to be seen and shared. We post (intake) pictures of pets entering our county shelter system and follow their stay in the system from intake until ultimately they are adopted, returned to owner, rescued or euthanized (outcome). Here you will find dogs (and sometimes other county pets) that entered the Palm Beach County

shelter system who are at risk of euthanasia. Pets here that are not claimed by their owner within the hold period (stray dogs are held for 4 days) become property of Palm Beach Animal Care and Control; and may be placed in the adoption or foster program, transferred to a partner organization, or humanely euthanized base on medical and/or behavior evaluations. Although not every dog posted here is in immediate danger, circumstances in an open admission shelter environment can change very quickly! PBC ACC is our only county run open admission / municipal facility. Sadly, Palm Beach Animal Care and Control also works with EXTREMELY limited funding and resources. Therefore this a TEMPORARY place for Palm Beach County's lost, discarded, and neglected pets. They need help today and every day!

*** PLEASE CONTACT PBC ACC DIRECTLY TO RESCUE OR ADOPT * To ADOPT you must go to the shelter in person, complete an application.

Kobe - Urgent Rescue Pickup Needed by Friday, December 13th @ 6.00 p.m.
Handsome big boy Kobe was originally surrendered in September 2024. The previous owner said that Kobe is housebroken and good with other dogs. This big boy was adopted again, then found tied to a fence in a parking lot.
Staff notes: The vet was listening to Kobe’s heart during an exam, and he gave her a warning growl before snapping at her. He also reportedly snapped at people in the field when he was first called in. Before she listened to his heart, his body language was loose and curious with a wagging tail. She was listening to his heart for a few seconds but he was getting wiggly and panting. The doctor moved the stethoscope to another part of his chest, and he let out a low growl and had a stiff body. The doctor tried slowly moving away from him, but he quickly turned to her and snapped at her, catching part of her sleeve and jacket. He was still lunging towards her when the kennel tech who was assisting with the exam pulled Kobe back.
Other staff notes report that he is a sweet and friendly dog. During processing in the clinic for his vaccines and treatment, he was friendly and cooperative.
Behavior: Due to this event, the behavior team formally assessed him. He had soft eyes, neutral ears, and a wiggly body and tail. When B&E came to his kennel, he was jumping around and play bowing. He was excited to go out and once they got out in the yard, he was allowing pets all over. Kobe saw another staff member and was pulling towards her on the leash, but once Kobe and his handler approached her, she was able to pet him all over.
Request to rescues: Kobe needs urgent rescue due to his unpredictable behavior during his clinical exam. Kobe doesn’t seem to like restraint. During the vet exam, he had friendly body language and it quickly turned into snapping

What does CAP 4 CARE mean on a dogs euthanization description?

Capacity for care means they don’t have space for the dog so they died for Palm Beach County’s inability to provide enough resources for homeless pets. Remember there was a 1/2 a penny tax voted on to go to the shelter and most of the taxpayers said no- they wanted to keep their half a penny. It’s a disgrace. Wealthiest zip codes in the country.

4 month old little girl only 10 lbs “Pistachio” Needs Urgent Rescue by Wed. 12/11 @ 4 pm

Intake info: This poor baby was found as a stray in Lake Worth. Pistachio appeared to be injured in some way at intake. She was scanned for a microchip and sadly, nothing came back. She is on stray hold until 12/15.

Medical: Neurologic deficits to front limbs. Concerns for possible peripheral nerve injury at both limbs but cannot rule out a cervical spinal lesion causing variable nerologic symptoms as she is nonambulatory. Mange, possible intestinal parasites.
Unable to use front legs.

Staff notes: This baby is very scared and needs some TLC.

Request to rescues: Little Pistachio needs urgent rescue due to her various medical needs which exceed our capacity for care. She needs follow-up visits with a private vet to address her neurological condition, mange, and parasites. This cutie needs the help of a rescue to live her best life and find her forever family!

Two little neglected cuties got away from breeder greeders and need help! A boy and a girl very friendly attention seeking & Need Urgent Rescue by Mon. 12/16 @ 4 pm

Intake info: These two adorable dogs were found in a Taco Bell parking lot in Lake Worth. They were scanned for a microchip and sadly, nothing was found. Their stray time is up on 12/14.

Medical: Both have ear canals obstructed with large, cauliflower masses. Multifocal dermatitis, flea infestation, breathing issues due to the smushed face, and A2219907 has a low grade cardiac murmur.

Staff notes: These two are super sweet and friendly dogs. They were bright, responsive and attention seeking during their vet exams.

Request to rescues: They need urgent rescue due to their medical needs which exceed our capacity for care. They would do best with a rescue who is able to give them some TLC as well as follow-up with a private vet to address all concerns.

These dogs would make lovely companions for the right person.

Terrified little girl Jemima - Urgent Rescue Pickup Needed by Saturday, December 7th @ 5.00 p.m. FAS (fear, anxiety and stress), painful bilateral ear infections, multiple fractured teeth.

Intake Info: This girl was sadly dumped at a local partner organization along with two other dogs. According to the responding officer, Jemima was being disruptive on scene, was growling and charging at staff and was going after one of the other dogs.

Medical: She has a high level of FAS (fear, anxiety and stress), bilateral ear infections now under treatment and multiple fractured teeth.

She is demonstrating wary behavior - whale eyes, paw lifting, lip licking, backing away.

After spending some quality time with the Kennel team, she finally warmed up enough to allow for a slow and gentle exam. It was a very limited oral exam and she appeared to want to be friendly, but is still highly skittish.

Although shy and timid, she did well for her processing. She is vaccinated and heartworm negative.

Behaviors Observed: Behavior assessment has been requested and is pending.

Request to Rescues: This scared girl needs urgent rescue help due to her fearful behavior and her medical issues. She’s going to need extraction or dental treatment to address her fractured teeth with a private veterinarian or veterinary dentist. She has been on treatment with FAS medications and Carprofen to improve comfort, and this may need to be continued as she transitions to a new environment.

This poor girl was abandoned and so, as much as anything, she needs a safe, quiet and calm space to decompress and to feel loved.
