Crabapple Downs Standard Poodles Crabapple Downs Standard Poodles is located in Colebrook, New Hampshire Our Sires are all American Lines, while our Dams are outcrossed English-German lines.

As highly responsible breeders, we are very much against in-breeding and/or line-breeding, and try to outcross with dogs that are as unrelated to our dogs as possible. We feel that a diverse gene pool is crucial to the longevity and good health of our Poodles. Our poodles are registered with the American Kennel Club, and we strive to produce dogs that exemplify the breed standard in health, temper

ament and conformation. We have worked with service dog organizations such as APAW (American Poodles At Work) and the NEADS Service Dog Program. At Crabapple Downs, we believe strongly in diversity in the bloodlines of our poodles to correct the in-breeding and line-breeding that has been done with the breed in the past. On the average, most American Standard Poodle lines reach as high as 25 percent inbreeding! This practice of breeding cousins to one another places the breed at risk for recessive genetic disorders including SA, Addisons' Disease and autoimmune disorders. All of our parents, even the American lines, have a low in-breeding coefficient percentage (COI), and we follow a very careful breeding program to achieve an even lower in-breeding coefficient percentage. COI's are computed on 10 generations. When it comes to placing our puppies with their new families, we are careful to make certain that they are going to caring, responsible, knowledgeable and permanent homes. Someone must be at home to care for the puppy during the day. Poodles do not develop well being left home alone. We are also not advocates for any type of crate training. We want our pups raised like a human child...by your side and not stuffed in box. Potential buyers are screened accordingly, and must visit our kennel in person so that we can meet them. We do not ship our puppies. We also require that potential new owners attend puppy obedience classes with their new addition and read books on our recommended reading list. We are always happy to provide new owners with advice and support, and encourage you to stay in touch with us after you take your puppy home. Our poodle prices are fair; we breed out of our love for poodles and our desire to improve the breed - not for capital gain. Our goal is to produce healthy, happy poodles that will live a long life. We feel that we owe this to the breed that we love so much and that has given us so many years of love and companionship in return.

Good afternoon fellow crabapple poodle owners.
Yes, this is the post many of you have been waiting for! The 21st annual Crabapple Downs Poodle Party Reunion will be happening September 20th and 21st. That's right folks! The party is ON!!!
Our reunion this year will only be a two day party instead of the normal 3. Party will be starting first thing Saturday morning Sept 20th and running through til mid afternoon Sunday September 21st... With the costs of running a party this size, its better if we do just 2 days instead of 3 including all the work it takes to do 3 full days. . If all goes well next year we will try to go back to the 3 day party. We are still working on our schedule for activities planned and menu for the summer kitchen. We will have the summer kitchen up and running starting Saturday morning.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available from the Poodle Mountain Grill/summer kitchen on Saturday. Breakfast and lunch will be available on Sunday then people can either head out after lunch or are welcome to stay for the afternoon/evening We normally do a leftover meal on Sunday for anyone staying till Monday..

We do have to charge a fee for coming to the party, as it takes a lot of money to get a party of this size off operational. We also do charge for food we provide as with everything food has also become costly. (Very reasonably priced and still cheaper than what you would find at a local restaurant, some of the best food you can get in the north country while you are in our area, we promise you will not go hungry and anyone that has come in the past will vouch for how incredible the food choices are)
As far as where to stay while in our area:
If you have a camper, rv, motor home, you can stay right on site in our camper village. Primitive parking with no water or sewer hook ups in our back field. Please let us know if you are bringing a camper so we know how many to plan for. Tenters are also welcome but must come prepared for chilly nights and mornings.
Local lodgings are mostly dog friendly. Any listed below are dog friendly..
Northern Comfort Motel 603-237-4440
Colebrook Country Club and Lounge 603-237-5566
River Edge Inn and Black Bear Tavern 603-237-5521
Diamond Peaks Motel (a little rustic but still close by) 603-237-5104
Mohawk Cottages 603-303-1664
Ladd Pond Cabins 603-237-9881
The Ledges Motel (clean and simple) 603-246-8988
Maurices Motel (Canann, VT) 802-246-3453
Jacksons Lodge Cabins (Canann, VT) 802-266-3360
If you are having trouble finding a room please reach out to us.

One other reminder... This party is only for crabapple poodle owners. Not just breed specific. You have to have a crabapple poodle in order to attend. Other dogs that live in the home with a crabapple poodle are also welcome to attend but they must live with a crabapple poodle in order to attend. Dogs attending the party also have to like other dogs. If your dog is not good with other dogs, this party may not be right for you. Most dogs are off leash but if your dog has an argument with another, we will recommend they go on a leash for the rest of the party.

Do also be aware this is not a time for people to come visit the kennel. The kennel will not be open for visitors as we will be busy seeing folks that already have our dogs that are up in the area for the reunion. No puppy sales will also be happening on this particular weekend.
Please RSVP us on email so we know that you are planning on attending. You may also message Emily Rose McKinnon or Arlene Mills if you are personal friends with them.
We will be posting a schedule of the party and menu options closer to the party date.
Lots of work to do to be ready for the party and we are now on countdown!

Any questions please reply to this post or email Emily and Arlene at [email protected]

New litter announcement!
Lucy Lockett x Erik the Red- small-medium moyens born 7-23-25. All apricots in different shades. Ready for homes at the end of September. These puppies will be between 25 and 30+ pounds full grown. We have 10 in all. Six females and four males. We are accepting deposits on this litter to hold a puppy in a person’s name. Not a specific puppy at this age, but just one puppy in this litter and then puppies can get picked out as individuals after six weeks of age . The only requirement we have is that someone be home to raise a new baby. Poodles are raised best by a person’s side and not raised in a crate while someone is out the door working during the day. If you would like to be considered for one of these puppies, please email with information on you and your household/family so we can determine whether you would be a good possible match for one of our puppies.

These are the last two full-size standard puppies available in Mabel’s litter. ( Mabel x Chipper born 5-6-25) One black-and-white female and one brown and white male. They will be 60-70+ lbs full grown. These will be the only standard puppies we have until late fall/early winter. Both these puppies went down for their updated/current health certificates today and once more passed with flying colors. They are now ready for their forever homes. Someone must be home to raise a baby and if you are interested, please email with information on you and your household and who will be the one to be home to properly raise one of these pups.
If you are a current or former crabapple poodle owner, you will also qualify for our return customer discount.

These are the remaining pups in Mabel‘s full-size standard litter. ( Mabel x Chipper born 5-6-25) One female, who is a black and white who may end up a blue and white, and one brown and white male. Both very nice puppies. The boy is super confident and loves people. He would be a great addition to a family with older children. The female would be better suited for an adult or teenage children home and is a little more laid-back and mellow. Both of these puppies are ready to go now. The boy is going to be a good sized dog full grown probably over 70– 75 pounds and the female will probably be closer to 60 pounds full grown.
If interested in either one of these two, please email with information on you and your household so we can determine whether you are a good match for one of our puppies. Someone has to be home during the day to raise a new baby. Poodles do not develop well left home all alone.
We do have a couple openings for this coming weekend for visits. I would like to get both of these out to a home sooner than later, while their health certificates are still valid
