A special “Happy” Tails story. My son Ryan asked me a couple months ago what I thought about French Bulldogs. He was thinking about getting a puppy. I suggested a puppy was not a good fit as he works full time, lives alone and does not have time to train a puppy. I asked if he would consider an older dog. One that would not need training or crating for long periods and would be fine alone while he was at work. He said he would be willing to try so I told him about Happy, the last dog we had at our kennel who had not been adopted and had been there for almost two years with no interest.

Happy was adopted about six years ago and the man kept her five years. In spring of 2022, she escaped from his vehicle while he was at a job. He claims he searched for her for hours but couldn’t find her. We were contacted by Fairfield animal shelter that a Good Samaritan had picked up Happy out of the road and her chip not registered so they traced her back to us. Once we figured out who she was, we contacted her owner. He told us for a week he was going to pick her up. He never showed but instead called the shelter and asked them to euthanize her. Thank goodness they contacted me and we told them we would get her. Happy’s adoptability wasn’t great as she is an older dog that prefers to be the only dog and she’s part pit.

In early November we took Happy and her toys, food and blankets to Ryan and told him everything we knew about her. He agreed to keep her and see how things went. I asked him how things were going today and he said “she is perfect and I love her!” Best Christmas present ever for me, Ryan and especially Happy who now has found her forever home!!! 💕💕BTW Happy loves car rides and puppachinos from Starbucks!

Great picture of the search and rescue dogs!

I just wanted to add this picture to follow up on the fundraiser post to let everyone better see who it is that their donations are helping keep safe! (Plus it is one of my favorite pictures!) The Deployment Truck is the second home to these girls, plus others! Please don't let them down!
Thank you!

Awesome advice!

Friends, you must all know that shelters and rescues are full and their staff is overwhelmed. Please, if you find an animal in need, foster it for as long as you can. Save a life.

Please consider a donation to this wonderful organization that has helped to reunite so many lost pets.

Please consider a donation to this wonderful organization that has helped to reunite so many lost pets.

We are initiating a new fundraising event to effect safety repairs and upgrades to our Deployment Truck, and we need everyone's help, please!
Our tires have become nearly bald, and as you all know, we transport some seriously precious cargo - our girls Ginger, Dani, Pippa, Zanna and Riley, plus rescued pups on a regular basis. I absolutely hate to think what might happen to one of them if we experience a blowout, especially on the interstate, and at night! I obtained an estimate to replace all six tires, and it will be $2,300. (Tires have really gone up in price these past 6 years!)
Our inverter shorted out on us, and I sent it in to be checked. The motherboard is fried and to repair it and have it shipped back will cost $533 (which is less than I feared it would be). Without the inverter, we cannot charge and use the battery backup system for powering the air conditioning system in the dog compartment. And we have already had two close calls this summer when the generator failed temporarily. Thank goodness for the temperature alarm in the truck!
The headlights are glazed over to the point that they are quite dim, and we find ourselves driving home often late at night. We have attempted to clean them on two occassions with with different products - neither have worked. To replace the assemblies with new ones will cost right at $500 for the pair.
With whatever else we can raise, we want to invest in LED emergency flashing lights for the times we find ourselves deploying alongside the highway. The thought of a driver striking the truck with people and our girls in it is terrifying! Additionally, we really need to invest in two stretchers. One that is a portable canvas one that I can carry on them tracks, and another, more robust folding type with a semi--rigid frame and wheels on one end. I cannot count the times we have had to carry dogs that are injured, just worn out, or deceased. These stretchers would make it easier and safer for myself and our volunteers.
While we have initiated a GoFundMe for this purpose this morning, I am also encouraging donors to use our quicker means of donating - Venmo or PayPal. The GoFundMe will take several weeks to obtain the funds, and the inverter is sitting at the repair shop awaiting payment, and the front two tires on the truck are dangerously worn. The rest we can wait for as funds become available.

*** Captured SAFE!!!***
I will post the report later. Its nearly 2300, and I've a 2 hour drive ahead, so please be patient.
THANK YOU ALL for your assistance!!

We need some help ASAP!
This beautiful, sweet boy is missing, but there is a twist to his story. He was placed on a temporary tether outside yesterday, and when left alone, he pulled the ground stake out and ran off, pulling his 25' tether along with the ground stake!
I don't normally worry TOO much about large dogs like him when they are running around with just a lead, but a long tether is going to get him into trouble eventually.
The owner is a young man who simply does not have the funds to off-set our expenses to deploy (about $680), and we need you all to please help, if you can!
I AM GOING today, as soon as I can get there, and am planning being there this afternoon. I have a nearly full tank of fuel in the deployment truck, and the generator is full and has the 5 gal can of backup gas as well. So, I will make it there and back....
However, I just had to send our inverter off yesterday to be repaired, and shipping alone cost us $280. I've no idea what repairs will cost, or the return shipping. Plus, the tires on the truck are getting extremely worn, and truly need to be replaced as soon as possible, along with other needed minor repairs and maintenance.
We were already discussing a fundraising push for BRSAR, but it seems I'm a little late on that....
Bottom line, we are going after this boy, but we really need your help! If you can donate, please do, if you can't, please share our post, and definitely pray for our success on this mission!
