it right, you can keep the horse's well-being first and you can maintain high standards in communication, individualizing to both horse and owners needs and still successfully compete at the top level of competition without taking shortcuts. It shows in the horses happiness in their jobs and their overall quiet confidence -- the difference is in their happy, trusting expressions and happiness in all facets of their lives. The performance horses all have a solid foundation in Dressage before moving into their chosen discipline where they are brought along with individualized care and compassion. Each horse is evaluated slowly to determine the best future for them, believing that every horse has a job that they will excel in. Empathy is shown towards their individual temperaments, which brings along a more confident horse who has a special brilliance in their overall expression. Amateurs find that their horses are easy to ride, and their special personality shines through in the most positive light as they learn to become a true partner with their horse, rather than just a rider. Honest and timely communication with both owners and buyers have garnered Wendye an iron-clad reputation within the industry for absolute honesty and integrity, putting the horse first and matching up horse to rider with a skill that can only come from knowing her horses inside and out.

This is seriously one of the best minded, most willing, no drama, easy going, people oriented, sweetheart, ‘what-dreams-are-made-of’ sort of gelding!

‘KATALYSST’ is a 14.2h 5yo Arabian gelding bred by Koweta Arabians, out of an Al-Marah mare by Wortex Kalliste. ‘Kat’ (or Kat-terrific as I tend to call him because he is!) is a once in a lifetime sort of dude - he’s super easy to train, retains everything you teach him without drama, he’s confident and trusting and just wants to be a good boy! Great legs and feet and well balanced conformation, excellent mover in all 3 gaits. Balanced, beautiful and a love bug! Great manners, green under saddle but the best green horse you’ll ever sit on! Totally an amateur friendly sort of horse - if all horses were like this guy was to start, there wouldn’t be a need to have horse trainers; seriously!

No warning labels. Sound, clean legged, healthy, good about everything! He showed halter minimally as a yearling and is absolutely a push button stand up- would be a super horse for youth halter or showmanship. Correct enough to win it all in sport horse. Great brain not at all spooky never does anything wrong- he would be a great endurance/natrc type horse (he’s not going to be a fast guy but he’ll get the job done consistently and keep you safe and smiling out there!), super for dressage, ranch riding, he’s cute when you free jump him, and he’s absolutely as game as you are- point him in the right direction, and have a great time!

Started late started right; always well cared for and handled with respect and care, thoughtfully bred and just as happy and well adjusted and sound, ready to be your lifetime partner in all things fun!

Katalysst is ready to chase all your dreams and make up some new ones along the way. I can’t say enough good things about this guy- how do you put ‘nicest horse ever’ into words that don’t sound like I’m being trite… he’s just one of those very rare sort of really good boys!!!

This is such a RARE and exciting opportunity!!!

5 yo BLACK purebred Arabian mare, amateur friendly to ride, national caliber in Hunter Pleasure, rides ba****ck on a loose rein on the trails with or without company; completely devoted and loves people, and- she’s in foal to one of the highest rated Friesian stallions in the country! Fonzie The Friesian

HRA Marquesa checks all the boxes- she’s not spooky or mare-ish; sound with no maintenance; easy to live stall or pasture, with no bad habits; has professional training and would be a good candidate for the Hunter maturity this year! She’s one of the coolest horses you’ll ever know- just as confident, loving, and beautiful as they come!

She’s been ridden quite a bit on the trails and is very amateur friendly (best suited for an intermediate rider or a confident novice in lessons as she is forward but she is brave and doesn’t do anything bad).

She’s due to foal late Feb 2025, with a guaranteed black, Turbo-Friesian foal that will be expensive, top quality, likely a fabulous hunter pleasure and/or dressage horse that can likely halter, and would very likely recoup this mares purchase price at weaning.

A dream mare carrying a dreamy real-life knight-in-shining-armor foal, this is what dreams are made of! Isn’t it YOUR turn to have something you’ve always wanted?!

12/07/2024

I’ve been wanting to write a pamphlet about this exact thing - so many people expect a horse to just adapt and be the same immediately. When you consider often horses come to me and just start to settle in and then the move again- they really have a lot to adapt to and it’s stressful. I’d be stressed if I was them! I heard that it takes 6 months for a horse to show you their real personality. I 100% believe that’s true and have seen horses who seem to be settled after a few weeks- totally come out of their shell after 5-6 months. Even seasoned horses go through this.

Treat them like family members, have compassion that they have had everything they know taken from them/ horse friends, people friends, new routine, new feed, new pastures, new tack, new expectations, even new barn hours and working times. They will figure it out but they might need a little help and compassion in the meantime 🩷

"New Home Syndrome"🤓

I am coining this term to bring recognition, respect, and understanding to what happens to horses when they move homes. This situation involves removing them from an environment and set of routines they have become familiar with, and placing them somewhere completely different with new people and different ways of doing things.

Why call it a syndrome?

Well, really it is! A syndrome is a term used to describe a set of symptoms that consistently occur together and can be tied to certain factors such as infections, genetic predispositions, conditions, or environmental influences. It is also used when the exact cause of the symptoms is not fully understood or when it is not connected with a well-defined disease. In this case, "New Home Syndrome" is connected to a horse being placed in a new home where its entire world changes, leading to psychological and physiological impacts. While it might be transient, the ramifications can be significant for both the horse and anyone handling or riding it.

Let me explain...

Think about how good it feels to get home after a busy day. How comfortable your favourite clothes are, how well you sleep in your own bed compared to a strange bed, and how you can really relax at home. This is because home is safe and familiar. At home, the part of you that keeps an eye out for potential danger turns down to a low setting. It does this because home is your safe place (and if it is not, this blog will also explain why a lack of a safe place is detrimental).

Therefore, the first symptom of horses experiencing "New Home Syndrome" is being unsettled, prone to anxiety, or difficult behaviour. If you have owned them before you moved them, you struggle to recognise your horse, feeling as if your horse has been replaced by a frustrating version. If the horse is new to you, you might wonder if you were conned, if the horse was drugged when you rode it, or if you were lied to about the horse's true nature.

A horse with "New Home Syndrome" will be a stressed version of itself, on high alert, with a drastically reduced ability to cope. Horses don't handle change like humans do. If you appreciate the comfort of your own home and how you can relax there, you should be able to understand what the horse is experiencing.

Respecting that horses interpret and process their environments differently from us helps in understanding why your horse is being frustrating and recognising that there is a good chance you were not lied to or that the horse was not drugged.

Horses have survived through evolution by being highly aware of their environments. Change is a significant challenge for them because they notice the slightest differences, not just visually but also through sound, smell, feel, and other senses. Humans generalise and categorise, making it easy for us to navigate familiar environments like shopping centres. Horses do not generalise in the same way; everything new is different to them, and they need proof of safety before they can habituate and feel secure. When their entire world changes, it is deeply stressful.

They struggle to sleep until they feel safe, leading to sleep deprivation and increased difficulty.

But there is more...

Not only do you find comfort in your home environment and your nervous system downregulates, but you also find comfort in routines. Routines are habits, and habits are easy. When a routine changes or something has to be navigated differently, things get difficult. For example, my local supermarket is undergoing renovations. After four years of shopping there, it is extremely frustrating to have to work out where everything is now. Every day it gets moved due to the store being refitted section by section. This annoyance is shared by other shoppers and even the staff.

So, consider the horse. Not only are they confronted with the challenge of figuring out whether they are safe in all aspects of their new home while being sleep deprived, but every single routine and encounter is different. Then, their owner or new owner starts getting critical and concerned because the horse suddenly seems untrained or difficult. The horse they thought they owned or bought is not meeting their expectations, leading to conflict, resistance, explosiveness, hypersensitivity, and frustration.

The horse acts as if it knows little because it is stressed and because the routines and habits it has learned have disappeared. If you are a new human for the horse, you feel, move, and communicate differently from what it is used to. The way you hold the reins, your body movements in the saddle, the position of your leg – every single routine of communication between horse and person is now different. I explain to people that when you get a new horse, you have to imprint yourself and your way of communicating onto the horse. You have to introduce yourself and take the time to spell out your cues so that they get to know you.

Therefore, when you move a horse to a new home or get a new horse, your horse will go through a phase called "New Home Syndrome," and it will be significant for them. Appreciating this helps them get through it because they are incredible and can succeed. The more you understand and help the horse learn it is safe in its new environment and navigate the new routines and habits you introduce, the faster "New Home Syndrome" will pass.
"New Home Syndrome" will be prevalent in a horse’s life until they have learned to trust the safety of the environment (and all that entails) and the humans they meet and interact with. With strategic and understanding approaches, this may take weeks, and their nervous systems will start downgrading their high alert status. However, for some horses, it can take a couple of years to fully feel at ease in their new home.

So, next time you move your horse or acquire a new horse and it starts behaving erratically or being difficult, it is not being "stupid", you might not have been lied to or the horse "drugged" - your horse is just experiencing an episode of understandable "New Home Syndrome." And you can help this.❤

I would be grateful if you could please share, this reality for horses needs to be better appreciated ❤

Everyone has days that are rough no matter how hard you try, and the uglier side of life might even get you down. You go home and have more work, more chores, and nothing just seems to be very fun. But what if you knew there was something beautiful waiting for you, that was guaranteed to go smooth, that wouldn’t feel like more work… something that no matter what sort of day you had, what kind of mood you are in, how bad your head aches… was happy to see you and promised to give you a quiet, relaxing and smooth evening/weekend doing what you love best; that you truly got to relax and enjoy without worrying that it will hurt to walk the next day… (and you can secretly laugh at your friends who had a ‘bouncier’ weekend and are having trouble standing up come Monday morning…)

Sounds to me like you need a ‘stop and stare’ beautiful, no-drama horse who will take care of you when you need some time to think (…or NOT think!), be happy to zip through the trees or glide down the road or walk quietly down a beautiful trail just watching birds or chatting with your friends… a horse that walks like a normal horse and won’t be hard for your ‘trotting’ friends to keep up with, but when you want to move out, they are bouncing or posting while you are sitting back on your comfy couch, unable to stop smiling as the worries of life fade away…

Jacky is 15.1h and stout, she takes up leg for tall riders but isn’t too tall to get back on after your picnic by the lake (where she’ll stand tied patiently waiting for you to finish lunch…) and will even stretch out to make herself shorter in case you cans find a ready log. She’s 7 years old- old enough to have been through school, seen a few things, and gotten the sillies out of her system but young enough that she is sound, healthy, and you’ll have many years of partnership ahead to look forward to… and she’s a ‘show bred’ registered Tennessee Walking Horse- making ‘Jose’s Apache Queen’ one of the most beautiful to look at, smoothest gaiting horses I’ve ever seen!

She has excellent manners, no warning labels. She’s very kind and sweet and really wants to bond with her person. She was in season when we made these videos but other then stopping to p*e a couple times- you’d never have known it; so I’d say this is not at all a mare-ish mare. She’s seasoned on the trail and is not at all spooky or nervous… under saddle she has absolute confidence in her rider and will do whatever crazy idea you dream up, safely and quietly. She’s happy to move on out but she’s content to walk like a normal horse without crowding or asking to go faster. Light to your hand, responsive but not over sensitive to your legs, patient to mount no matter how awkward you are. Opens gates, crosses water, you can pony off her, drag logs, put your jacket on, open a can of soda or crinkle your water bottle, pick up a bucket and carry it to the pasture to feed your other horses, and be confident that she will keep you safe!

She’s happy stalled, not grumpy to her neighbors, but loves her turnout and is easy to catch. No vices or bad habits. Rides in a halter, snaffle or curb and keeps her beautiful gait even if you don’t know how to ride a gaited horse. She’s fine with a little time off or ridden every day. She’s a little reserved to strangers but friendly and eager to see her people and really enjoys having a relationship❤️

You deserve to have some drama free relax time, get to enjoy yourself and have something to look forward to!

I have 2 very exciting horses to show you! Both are seasoned trail horses too!

One is a gaited (Tennessee Walker) mare; and the other is not gaited (half-Arabian gelding) but smooth!

I wanted to post them together so it’s not confusing later - and to encourage you to ‘stay tuned!’ As we’ve been working hard on getting new photos and videos of all the horses that are here to find their perfect matches… and wow do we have some wonderful horses right now!!!

Pictured are:
‘Jacky’ - 7yo 15.1h (stout) registered Tennessee Walker mare who goes anywhere that you point here and is not spooky. She’s willing to go but not a sp*ed demon making her a great horse for most any level rider. (1️⃣2️⃣,5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣)
and
‘Archer’ 12yo 16h registered half-Arabian gelding. Well trained for both arena and trails, great manners, easy, super kind 🩷(1️⃣8️⃣k)

Both of these horses are sound, well mannered, happy to ride alone or with others, are not spooky or ‘looking for bogey men’, they are current on everything, tuned up and ready to have a lifetime of fun with you in the saddle!

EASTER SPECIAL! Big price reduction on this classy gelding who is coming along beautifully in Dressage/Sporthorse, has potential for hunter pleasure, and a good show record through his junior horse years in country English pleasure!

Manhattan is a very personable, cheerful and bright guy who is seeking his longterm partner to love and enjoy and have lots of adventures! He is such a good guy! He's been in Dressage training for the past 6 months and is showing so much talent and willingness- he is a people horse that is sensitive, responsive and tuned into his rider - this is a horse who will spend every day trying to please you.... if you yell at him, he Is crushed for days!

Powerful uphill movement with 3 beautiful gaits, good suspension and strong rear end. He carries himself beautifully and has a lot of presence under saddle. He's fun to ride for an intermediate rider who likes a light, responsive horse and is going to be very competitive at the national level in Sporthorse under saddle and dressage classes!

SA MANHATTAN HEIR is a classy 9yo 15.2h Arabian gelding, he has a good show record and a lot of training in country english pleasure. He was sold after his junior horse year and his current owners have been casually riding him hunter pleasure and dressage - they really enjoy him but his teenage owner lost interest and he's too good to sit!

If you like a forward-thinking, sweet, sensitive man with a bold classy look, and heaps of talent to go up the levels-Manhattan will be your dream horse!! 🦄🩷

This gem of a mare is looking for her forever home- Kami is a 16yo 14.1h Arabian mare (deep heart girth that takes up your leg!). Bred to the hilt- she's straight Egyptian as royal as they come- sane, safe, sweet and sturdy!

Super fun on the trails she's good alone or leading or following - following is best still if she's carrying a beginner rider; but an advanced beginner or better can ride her alone and feel safe!

She's good also in the arena- rides Sporthorse style or western dressage style - still just jn a snaffle but ready to start jn a curb should you desire. Rides just as well in a rope halter! I've used her for lessons and she's patient and adapts to her riders confidence level.

Very kind - to people and horses. Babysitter type. She's generally the boss in the pasture but there's never a scuffle- I think she really is as classy as they come and the other horses don't want to offend her 😛!

No vices no issues no maintenance needed. Always been barefoot. She is forward without being hot -- but you can visibly see her check herself with an unbalanced or timid rider and she goes from 'happily forward' to quiet and almost a 'kick ride' - she is patient and super good when a rider needs her help.

Kami has had an easy well cared for life and when I say 16 years 'young' I mean it - you'd think she's 6-7. She's only had 2 foals - no problem to breed great mother easy foaler - (her youngest is absolutely incredible!!).
***She was started under saddle about 2 years ago- but she's always been easy and now she's becoming well trained- just never been used hard so she is sound sound sound. She's been ridden ba****ck by kids and on trails a lot- even when she was first started- she's a good girl! But I highlight this as for a 16yl mare she is well 'broke' but she's not 'finished' in any discipline- just a good riding horse with potential to be more!

She is 14.1h- rides big with a deep heart girth and plenty of substance - at 5'9 I don't feel like I'm on a small horse - she's also balanced and sturdy feeling, sure footed and self-aware she's not spooky no bad habits.

Windancer Bint Kamar is royally bred - she is the true 'tent horse' in quality and temperament. Classy all the way!

PRICE DOES NOT REFLECT QUALITY! She is a serious steal because it's time she found her forever home and isn't bored in my pasture -- but we do ride her a couple times a week still so she's tuned up and ready to start having adventures with you!

This is your 'go-to' do it all, don't have to think, no stress, make you laugh, make you smile, get the mail, drink the beer, pony the c**t, pack your beginner friends, babysit your grandkid, take care of you, just plain have FUN horse!!!

Caspian aka Mr. Chill is a 10yo 15h tall (and wide!) grade Quarter Horse gelding. He's always had that 'no worries' attitude. He's got a great sense of humor, can take a joke and he has lots of 'dad' jokes to tell you too! Gets along anywhere, good manners, fun to ride. He's not 'finished' for the show ring but has all the buttons you need to do anything you want- he's a real 'doing' horse.

One owner, all vet records available he's had no issues no injuries, always sound and healthy, barefoot, current on all.

Husband horse! Beginner safe! Fun if you know how to ride! Not a deadhead at all but he's not going to win any sp*ed events either 😅 adapts to the rider- if you need safe his sp*eds are 'walk and walk faster' if you want to move on- he's no problem you won't have to pedal. Easy whoa.

He's a GOOD OL BOY! Everyone needs a horse like Caspian!!!
