Update!: wow! Great response. I have a list of people I'm working on getting back to at the moment. I'm not going to take any more applications for her for now BUT tomorrow I will be updating this page with my next two litters. One is being born the end of this month. That is likely a small litter but will confirm by xray on the 21st. The next breeding will be due around the beginning of July. More info to follow!
Okay guys! It looks like I will have one puppy from our current litter. Black female, she is super fun, smart, and driven with a nice off switch. She is going to be on the smaller side with an athletic build. She's confident, very social, and food motivated.
I would love to see her in a home that wants to do sports or as a demo dog for a trainer. She would also do great in an active companion home.
I always prefer that puppies go to homes where there is at least one other dog in the home.
If you already have an application on file please feel free to text me. If you don't have an application on file, send me an email at [email protected] and I will set up a time to talk with you!
As a professional dog trainer, breeding and raising litters of puppies is a fascinating & extremely rewarding experience.
Seeing the development of these guys in warp speed is absolutely mind-boggling. The development at this stage is rapid, the behaviors change daily, and if you're not paying attention, it's easy to miss things.
Unfortunately, many breeders drop the ball when it comes to the purposeful raising of puppies. Training and conditioning should start EARLY!! It's such a missed opportunity to develop healthy and useful behaviors as so much can be influenced at this age.
These guys are just 3 weeks old. They started the potty training just a few days ago. I start as soon as I can see them starting to walk.
The whelping box gets divided into separate sleeping and pottying areas. You can see the sleeping area at the back, and at this stage, the potty area takes up the majority of the box. I use grates for the potty area to keep them clean and poop foot free. At this point the grates are turned upside down but once the puppies are a little bigger they will get turned over and fit into the bathroom trays.
The bed area is cleaned as many times as necessary to ensure there is never any poop or pee. While I spot clean the π© in the potty area throughout the day, I only remove everything for a full cleaning 1x per day. I want the sleeping area to smell clean and the potty area... to smell like a potty area. Obviously, within reason, this isn't an excuse for keeping puppy areas dirty.
As this progresses, their sleeing and play areas will expand, and their potty area will decrease to a litter pan. Eventually, they will be given full access to the room with litter boxes for potty. Then, around 5 or 6 weeks old, they will be introduced to the doggy door for outside potty. By the time they go home at 10 weeks old they are generally 95% clean indoors with just the occasional pee accident next to the door.
Their ears and eyes opened around 14 or 15 days old,
