Praising God for these people who own mules!!! My only experience with a mule is riding one down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon on narrow, winding trails with sheer cliffs. They are extremely calm, sure-footed and non-reactive animals! And now mules are being used to bring supplies into flood-devastated towns in North Carolina where highways have washed out and there is no access by vehicle. They are taking in massive donations by Tractor Supply as well as from individuals who are donating bag after bag of food and supplies!!!

MOUNTAIN MULE PACKER RANCH / Oct 1, 2024 Update:
The mule team had a successful day today, and they were able to bring mule loads of food and supplies to many residents in Black Mountain. All went smoothly, and the mules and packers are resting for the night! Their plan for tomorrow, is to bring supplies, food, and check on residents' needs in an area towards Swannanoa, where it is believed 30% of the town's residents are trapped and can't get out. This will be a busy day for the team, and we pray for their safety and stamina!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Here at home, we stocked up on a huge amount of supplies, thanks to donations of so many!! And, Tractor Supply generously loaded a 24' stock trailer to the brim with plenty of livestock and pet food and also lots of gear like tarps, batteries, lights, work gloves, brooms, and shovels. 🥰🥰 Then we met at the Food Lion in Cleveland, NC to collect food and supplies brought by those that wanted to donate. It was so moving and beautiful to see people lined up bringing bag after bag, box after box, and case after case for the cause. We all had tears in our eyes and lumps in our throats as we joined together for a common cause. The devastation in the mountains has broken all of our hearts, but we are thankful that even in this sadness, we see God working through so many wonderful people. We will continue to praise HIM!! Thank you, thank you!!!!

An animal shelter in Texas posted: "if you are an adult and don't want people to know you are playing Pokemon, we will rent our shelter dogs to you for $5 an hour so it looks like you are walking your dog." Haha, right? Here are some of the results:

1) They have a waiting list of people who want to PAY FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF WALKING A DOG.

2) They have made so much money in "rental fees" that they have waived adoption fees

3) When the people renting the dogs are out walking, the post pictures of themselves playing the game on FB and Instagram. People are then coming to the shelter asking to adopt specific dogs.

4) On at least two occasions, people have called the shelter and said "Hey, I didn't think I wanted a dog. But me and THIS dog get along REALLY well. I'm not bringing him back."

5) The shelter currently has no dogs available to rent, and there is a waiting list – because all of the dogs have been adopted!! They are currently bringing dogs in from a different shelter to be rented.

This INTENSE ARCTIC STORM may have WIND CHILLS down to -40ºF in the Northwest. Tips to KEEP YOUR HORSES SAFE: 1) FREE-FEED HAY (digestive process warms them immensely). Don't let them run out of hay!!! 2) Heated WATER (45º optimal). If not drinking enough, provide pellets soaked in water. 3) SHELTER from WIND and PRECIPITATION. 4) BLANKETS can prevent a horse's natural heat regulation. If you Blanket, needs to be heavy and rated for sub-zero temperatures. 5) OATS are warming. Add water to Oats for extra hydration. 6) 2-3 Tablespoons loose SALT added to supplements to prompt horses to DRINK. 7) Give horses probiotics, enzymes, immune-boosting SUPPLEMENTS (recommend Equerrys Plus). 8.) If your horse KOLICS, treat immediately!!! We highly recommend keeping KOLIC 911 (oral paste) in your First Aid Kit. It CLEARS IMPACTIONS and disperses gas usually in less than an hour.
