This is my girl, 3.5 years, having her 2nd sit on a horse.
For anyone looking, I asked Katie Dubow from KiTerra Ranch at Cave Creek to help show her the ropes. What a brilliant experience.
Katie is a highly accomplished mounted shooter among other things and is fantastic with her horses. I had no idea she would be so great with a raw beginner toddler.
Bella the mare was a perfect choice. A little daunting in her height, she is so kind and patient with the kids.
I figure by next week, we should be mastering the hand gallop and maybe a fence or two... Oh and maybe reaching the stirrups!
We all know how important it is to check and maintain our equipment but what if you don't get what you paid for or expect?
I'm replacing girth points on a dressage saddle today for a lady who only just purchased her saddle. The points aren't old, barely used but one snapped during saddling. Through messages, I was booked to replace the one broken point but on seeing the points, we both knew she'd be back in a few days for more.
Whilst the owner has no history on these points, it's important to do your research before repairs. What leather are they using? Where was the leather stored? How should it be cared for and how has it been treated prior to being added to your saddle?
I will only use solid European leather and I use traditional hand stitching to complete your work. Feel free to ask me anything, any time!
