This is why I'm always reminding you all to give your dogs their monthly heartworm prevention. We are currently fostering a 4 yr old female that we just found out has heartworms. Luckily it is a low grade and we can treat it with meds. What a relief that it was caught early enough. Heartworms are not contagious. They come from infected mosquitos. I'll let you do your own research.
Here at Small Dog Daycare and Boarding we are currently accepting little dogs for summer vacation. It's nice and air-conditioned here. And the playground (backyard) is still green...so far.
Also, we sell fresh eggs if you're interested. They are soooo gooood.
One more also. We are fostering these 2 precious boys thru Texas Pit Crew. Holler if interested in one.

A good rainy day to everyone. It needs to rain allll daaayy. We have wussy dogs here. They might melt if they get their little toes wet. 😳 Here at Small Dog Daycare and Boarding your sweet babies can stay nice and dry. And, if so inclined, they can use the p*e pad. Though some would prefer to lie on it. 🙄 O'well... Come and visit.

Happy Labor Day from my crew at Small Dog Daycare and Boarding. This weekend we have 2 chihuahuas, 1 havanese mix, and 1 italian greyhound mix. They are taking advantage of Labor Day and not lifting a paw. Tsk Tsk. They want to remind you dogs to always take your heartworm pills. Take the right amount for your size. You don't want those gross worms in your precious heart. Come stay with us. You'll be glad you did.

Obedience! It's wonderful when your dog does what you tell him to do. Obedience training is good and fun for dogs. It exercises their body and their brain. There are several places and people in town that instruct in obedience training. I'll put a plug in for my place of choice. I am a member of the Obedience Training Club of Wichita Falls. There's socialization, training, guidance, etc. The dogs love going to school. This activity helps to form a better bond between owner and dog. Our dogs have all been to obedience training and they are perfect. Not! 🤣 It is fun though.
Anyway, that has nothing to do with boarding. That was just free. Summer vacation is soon coming. If you need to place your small dog in caring hands while you travel, give me a call. This pretty girl is Peaches! She's a four year old husky, she's a little shy but she can't wait to meet her new family! She is best suited in a home without other animals.

Is it raining at your house like it's raining at mine? We're finally getting some much needed rain. Praise the Lord!

Here's a good indoor game called "Leave It". Put leash on dog! Place no-no's on the floor. Put favorite treat in your pocket. Walk around the no-no's. When he looks their way, tell him leave it. If needed give a gentle tug on the leash. Once he is really good at it do it off leash. Practice this with ALL your babies.

Since this is Women's History Month...
Small Dog Daycare and Boarding is woman owned and operated.
Spring is fast approaching. The bugs will be flying crawling, biting, sucking, and whatever else bugs do. Did I give you the creepy crawlies? There are many ways to prevent these nasty critters from bothering your pets. Heartworm, in dogs, is caused be getting bit by an infected mosquito. If you'll research heartworms, you'll see how serious this is. Heartworms are very hard on the dog. And if surgery is involved, it is very expensive plus hard on the dog. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Did I say that right? Take care of those babies.

Hi y'all. We're Thing 1 and Thing 2. We beez at Auntie Cheryl's house for Thanksgiving. Mommy and Daddy ran off to who knows where and here we are wiff people that love us. Only problem is, she won't be still long enough for us to sit in her lap. Humph. There she goes again. Happy Thanksgiving y'all. We hear the fireplace might be on tomorrow.

Here at Small Dog Daycare and Boarding we try to keep our dogs at a healthy weight. I'd like to encourage you to do the same. Just like it's bad for people to be obese, it's also bad for our pets. Since animals are down on all fours, this extra weight is very hard on their backs. More so for the longer bodied dogs. There are now many low fat foods and treats on the market these days. A lot of them call their product "healthy weight". Anyway, whether your dog is skinny or fat, we'd love the opportunity to be your boarding choice. What do you do with all that powder at the bottom of your dry dog food bag? Do you throw it away? Don't! I just discovered a neat way to make use of that stuff. I'm one that believes in that old addage "waste not want not". I have been saving my powder (crumbs) Yesterday I experimented. I had saved a 1/2 of a quart size baggie. I put it in a bowl with a squished overripe banana and one egg. Mixed it all together. I found it easier to mix it with my hand. Then rolled it up in a blob and stuck it in the fridge. It does need to be stored in the fridge. I would take a picture but it kinda looks like a big turd. 🤣 This morning for their treats, I broke off a piece and squished it together and gave. They LOVED it! I'm sure you can experiment with other ingredients. So, there's my Small Dog Daycare and Boarding information for you. On that note, we have plenty of room for your little dogs.
