Wondering what saddle to get? I have been riding in Seven Saddles for over 7 months now and I wouldn’t change a thing. My sweat marks are even all the way around, proving it’s consistent in its fit. This goes from my thick/stout horses to my tall/lean horses.

Life is too short to waste any amount of time on wondering what other people think about you. In the first place, if they had better things going on in their lives, they wouldn't have the time to sit around and talk about you. What's important to me is not others' opinions of me, but what's important to me is my opinion of myself.

I know that when I wake up in the morning, the only person staring back at me in that mirror is MYSELF. I refuse to let failure define me. I refuse to let anyone tell me I cannot be proud of myself. I am determined to WIN.

Last night I got asked if I would be proud to win on a horse I didn’t train.

My response was: “I’d be proud and smiling all the way to the damn bank!” 😃

There was a time that I used to think how happy and proud I would be if I could win on a horse I trained.
_____

And now that I’ve won on a horse I’ve trained myself, I’ve won on horses that other people trained, and I’ve put horses in the 1D that had never been out of the 3D or 4D I’ve learned that I am equally as excited to do good on any horse.

The fact is…it all takes hard work in different ways.

It’s hard work making a winner. It’s hard work learning how to ride a winner. It’s hard work taking a horse to the next level.

So yes..I’m proud if I win on my horse, your horse, or the donkey down the road. And sometimes I might be proud if I just don’t fall off some horses🤣

Life is so short.

I did it. I went after my dreams and pushed myself to be the absolute best I could be, but I broke down. Although I’ve accomplished many firsts and many highs, I’ve drug myself through the mud through the lowest points I’ve ever experienced. God is not done with my story though. I just forgot to check in with MYSELF. I forgot to put myself first. Traumatic events that have happened this month reminded me that life is too short to be anything but happy or do anything other than what YOU want. Be selfish. It’s ok to put your needs first. It’s ok to walk away and start over. Life is hard and you only get one. Choose the people and surroundings to make it easier. Be the best YOU that you can be and make YOURSELF proud ❤️

Barrel racing… let’s talk about it.

I used to get so upset when someone would pick my runs apart. I would take offense to the criticism and get defensive instead of being thankful they took the time to even pay attention and offer a helping tip. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows. More like blood, sweat, and tears or whatever they say.

My go to is “consistency is key” but you can’t be 100% on 100% of the time. You’re going to have bad days. You’re going to have days that you may question everything. You may have days that you wonder “what the heck am I doing?”. Even the best have those days. I’ve seen trainers that I have looked up to hit barrels, break patterns, or just simply not clock… IT HAPPENS. What’s important is staying mentally tough and go on to the next one. Have faith in the process, even if it’s ugly sometimes and KEEP GOING!

Being at these futurities the past couple weeks, I’ve hit the highs of highs and the lows of lows. Before the finals in Fort Smith, I could barely force myself to eat a breakfast sandwich because I was so nervous and the one thing I kept saying is “how do the best trainers not get nervous?”. Is it because they’ve been doing this so long and it’s just another day or is it because they go in there confident and know that all the hard work is done? I’m gonna take a wild guess and say it’s the second option.

Last minute decision to enter the Royal Crown, and I just kept thinking maybe I shouldn’t have. It was expensive, I had just gotten ahead, and now there’s pressure on my shoulders. That’s where I went wrong. Instead of thinking of all the negatives of being here, I should’ve been thinking of the positives. My horses are working, I DESERVE TO BE HERE. Plain and simple. Even if you have to pretend that you have confidence, do it until you start to believe in yourself.

I know that I’ve worked hard to be where I am and I just hope that my long rant will relate to others and I can be a helpful tool!

Last run of the week…. Let’s do this. I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. ❤️

⚡️Smokin Jewel Diamond ⚡️ AQHA 3 yr old by Little Bit Smoken o/o Sparkling Skies (granddaughter of Colonel Freckles and Pyromaniac) AKA Jewel’s first lope through the pattern and only her second place away from home. I’m so excited for what her future has in store! We raised this mare and She’s the first horse I started completely on my own from the ground up. She’s the horse that instilled the love for starting colts ❤️

Cardi came and ran 6th in the 1D today out of about 90 horses with a 17.6 (her personal best in this pen) and won us the 2D average for the weekend. She has had her ups and downs with battling sarcoids for the past two years on and off and we are finally starting to figure things out and be consistent. Still have some room for improvement but God is so good in the blessings He provides me and the opportunities He shares ❤️ #royalbperformancehorses

Bobbie’s first time to town for some exhibitions and to say I’m proud of this 4 year old is an understatement! Lots of commotion, speakers, and so much to look at but she handled her first exhibitions like a champ ❤️ #royalbperformancehorses #GunDownBobbie

First day we got a little lost going to first but second day we were smooth and that was the goal.
