Fun weekend running our last UKC test of the year till the Grand in St Louis this fall. Lady, Kona, and Maui picked two finished passes each. Zara is turning into quite the dog and picked up two more finished passes. Goose made his hunt test debut and picked up two started passes. Jynx ( Kona x Jasper 1.0) ran by her owner earned her HRCH on Saturday. Axel ( Kona x Shaker ) ran by his owner Tim Guenther, picked up his HR title. WSILL puts on a great event and it was great to see everyone !

Took a trip north to Minnesota this weekend and the dogs did great! Couldn’t have asked for better weather and better people. The dogs went 12/12!
Zara picked up her HR title Saturday and her first finished pass Sunday.
Tink earned her HR title Saturday and had another pass Sunday for fun.
Lady ran really clean all weekend and earned her HRCH
Cash also ran clean this weekend and earned his HRCH
Maui and Kona both picked up finished passes and earned more points.

I have two very nice goldens up for discussion. Zara is 19 months old and is one pass away from her HR title. She’ll be running finished at the end of August. She’s runs excellent blinds and is a pinpoint marker. Very hard charging and honest. She’s hunted with me last year, has retrieved ducks and geese.

Honey is 9 months old, has two started passes and is currently on the T. She’s force fetched collar conditioned steady to shot singles. Running long singles and will remain working on T till finished.

Both these dogs are very well bred and are very nice dogs. I bought them with the intention of selling them at some point, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. They are super sweet, good with other dogs, good with kids and people and love to do their jobs. My plan all along was to find a home for them that will continue to let me keep training them for hunt tests in the future. I wanted some high powered well bred dogs to train for hunt tests in my crew of dogs and that’s exactly what they are. If you want a nice duck dog for the fall let’s talk!

Some challenging and fair tests. WSILL is a great club that always puts on a great event, if you’ve never been you should!
Lady ran her first finished tests and came away with two passes.
Cash owned by came away with two finished passes.
Jynx ran by her owner picked up their first finished pass together.
Kona added some more points to her name on Sunday

Repeat breeding between FTCH Corrib Jasper and HRCH Whiskey Grains B Kona. The first litter has been off and running very successfully the past year hunting with their owners, as well as a handful competing in hunt tests. This litter should produce the same thing. I would like to keep Zara in training with me to further her hunt test career in the spring and summer months. I bought Zara with the intention of placing her in a home that will let me put HRCH/MH title on her and progress from there. I will only let her go if we are on the same page. I have no problem keeping her if i can’t find the right home. She is one of those dog that makes everything look easy.

Zara has never met a stranger and is super sweet and affectionate dog. She is good with other dogs, kids, strangers etc. There isn’t a mean bone in her body she just wants you to pet her.

Zara has a great pedigree and the sky is the limit with her potential. She is FF’d CC’d through T, reverse T. She is a marking fool and can pick up long complex singles and easier doubles. She can easily run a seasoned level blind and moving to more complex blinds. She has had water work but we’ve been running primarily on land due to the colder weather. She has two UKC started passes (only ran two tests) and will easily obtain her HR title next spring. She has picked up ducks (obviously), live pigeons, live flyers, geese, with no problems. (Has not hunted yet but will soon the longer she stays with me.) She’d make a great duck dog for someone. If you are looking to add to your breeding program she’d also make a great prospect. She is a really great dog with a great training attitude and bubbly personality. Please DM me with any questions you might have about her. And please feel free share !

Just because a dog is AKC registered, doesn’t mean it has a good pedigree.

Just because you don’t want to compete in dog sports doesn’t mean you don’t want to buy a dog from lines who have competed. Those letters next to a dogs name for generations prove trainability, intelligence and adaptability, as well as, health testing for the entirety of the dogs lineage. There’s a reason military and police departments acquire their working retrievers from hunt test and field trial pedigrees.

Just because someone selling puppies says they are “health checked,” doesn’t mean they have OFA tested hips and elbows, genetic panels etc. their vets opinion of the health of their dog means nothing when it comes to breeding mentally and physically sound dogs.

Well bred dogs cost more up front, you’re paying for all the time and energy put into the parents, more so than the puppy itself. But, it is typically a “buy once, cry once,” situation. Well bred dogs typically are more willing to train, have far less mental/behavior issues and will cost you far less for the duration of their life.
