Come to the east shelter to meet Pippin, an adorable plott hound mix, and consider bringing him home and giving him the 🎄Christmas🎄 he deserves!

Pippin has been at MCACC for about two months after he was found on the streets of south Phoenix with his buddy, Maxwell.

He was a little scared and unsure at first but his notes indicate a lot of improvement — he’s learning how to walk on a leash and is easy to pull from his kennel for some very enjoyed sniffing and exploring the yard!

He has not been reactive to other dogs while at the shelter and we know he had at least one canine friend on the street, but as always, we would recommend decompression time and slow introductions to any new dog friends in the home.

🌟RESCUED🌟

❤️💚 Meet Mistletoe, a pint-sized pocket pitty that may just break your heart this holiday season. 🎄 ❤️

This little girl appears to have had her fair share of hardship, with the wounds to prove it. She also recently had her pregnancy terminated, leaving a shadow of sadness in her gentle eyes, but a heart full of gold remains. Despite all this, Mistletoe remains the sweetest dog, radiating a smile that is impossible to resist.

For our Tails Around Town day, we first made a trip to the park. The moment she stepped out of the car, her little legs had the cutest little skip. She loved sniffing around and watching the ducks. Her tail never stopped wagging, with the occasional soft, happy bark.

After exploring the park, it was time to run around the backyard. Mistletoe wasted no time in romping around, her small little body wriggling with pure joy. But what she loved most was cuddling. She snuggled up close, her head resting gently on the blanket. All she really wanted to do was rest from being cooped up in the loud, scary shelter.

Riding in the car was another one of Mistletoe's favorite activities. She would nestle into the blankets, creating a cozy nook for herself, and would soon fall into a peaceful cozy sleep.

Everyone we visited couldn’t resist her beaming happy smile. Being with people was what Mistletoe loved the most. She thrived on the attention and affection, her gratitude evident in every wag of her tail and her smile from ear to ear.

Mistletoe is available for adoption today through Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. She is looking for a forever home where she can share her boundless love and joy to her new family. Whoever welcomes Mistletoe into their home will be gaining a loyal and loving companion, a true testament to the resilience and sweetness of this pint-sized pocket pitty.

Our best boy, Kodi is really starting to struggle at the shelter. He has only known life in a family and he is so stressed at the shelter. Please help us find him his people. Everyone is so in love with this boy, but our hearts break for him💔

Kodi is my new favorite pup. Don’t tell the others🥰 A true gentle giant🫶🏼
He is about 7 years old and his family surrendered him after 7 years bc “they didn’t have space for him anymore.” Whatever that means🙄
This story hurt my heart, but after meeting him, he definitely deserves a family that will never give up on him. So 👋🏾✌🏼

He is a dream❤️The best behaved boy and deserves the best new family. He is potty trained, polite, affectionate, playful, sweet, not dog reactive, and takes treats gently.
He is a big boy so he will need all the recommended time completely separated and slow and safe intros to kids or other pets.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an animal that has boundaries. Humans have boundaries, so it’s only fair that animals would also have boundaries. It is our job as owners to adapt and learn about the dog that we have and how to best advocate for them.

It’s OK to have a dog that you don’t take everywhere. It’s OK to have a dog that you put away in a kennel when you have people over. It’s OK to have a dog that people cannot pet when you’re on a walk. It’s OK to have a dog that doesn’t like other dog interactions. 🗣️It’s OK to say no for your dog🗣️
We need to normalize saying no, and standing up for what our animals need and putting them in situations where they will be successful.

This is adoptable Reba at mcacc west. She is such an amazing dog❤️Damn near perfect. But she does not enjoy meeting new people abruptly. She needs to take things slow to feel safe. She needs an advocate. Reba is potty trained and kennel trained, loves fiercely once she loves you, and she appears dog friendly. Honestly, Reba shows me love that I have really never felt before. She is so loyal😇

Meet my favorite gal pal, Reba at mcacc west!❤️😇🥰

Reba is the poster child for why you need to meet a dog out of the kennel. Reba is said to be about 5 years old (I personally think younger. 2 or 3) and is not only so loving, but well behaved too. Unfortunately, in the kennel, when somebody she doesn’t know approaches, she does show her teeth. She is very shy at first. She needs to clear new people as not a threat to her or her people. It does not take long to win her over, but she is a dog that will need a human that will advocate for her boundaries.

Reba just wants to please her people and be close to you. Reba appears potty trained, and walks well on the leash with direction. She knows sit and takes treats gently. Reba does not appear reactive to other dogs at the shelter. But that being said, she would still absolutely need all the recommended time separated, and very slow and safe introductions to other pets. The shelter is recommending older children, but it is not a requirement.

This sweet girl breaks my heart💔 because I know she will get passed over because of her fear in the kennel with new people. As much as we tell people to look past it, most people don’t. But I’m hoping by posting her and providing that information, somebody will take a chance on my girl🙏🏼

I'm Horatio, the superhero of my own tale. My life's an adventure, filled with triumphs and challenges. One day, exploring the city, I found a burning building. Without hesitation, I darted inside, my muscles flexing with determination. I found a kitten trapped under debris. Using my strength, I freed her and carried her to safety. The next thing I knew, I was in this place they call a shelter. I'm brave, independent, curious, and smart. My superhero powers aren't just for saving kittens, but also for loyalty and love. This is sweet boy, Chopper😇 He was rescued by +Rescue a few days ago from the elist at mcacc.

Chopper was trapped by the Hartt trapping team and once he was at mcacc, we knew something was wrong. Chopper was lethargic and he walked like his whole body was in pain. After some testing, it came back Valley Fever positive. The rescue took him to an outside vet to obtain more information and it turns out he not only has Valley Fever in one area, but he has Valley Fever lesions all over his bones. He is in foster and receiving treatment, but he has a long road to go.

🚨 URGENT PLEA FROM Alone No More Dog Rescue FOR JETTA 🚨

Sweet Jetta has been through so much in her life.❤️‍🩹

Abandoned in a home with another dog and left to fend for herself, this gentle girl has likely endured more pain than most could imagine. 😌She's had multiple litters of puppies, yet it seems no one has ever shown her the love and care she so deeply deserves.

Now, Jetta is fighting an uphill battle. She has cancerous masses that may have spread, and while we await her CT scan results, her situation is urgent.🚨
Boarding is no place for a dog in pain-she deserves peace, comfort, and unconditional love in a quiet home where she can rest her tired soul. 😌

Jetta is *phenomenal*. She is soft, gentle, and adores meeting people, including kids. She's non-reactive to dogs of all sizes but would ideally need to be the only pet in the home as she navigates these difficult days.💔

They were testing him because they thought he had a parasitic infection, but the results came back valley fever. Which honestly, is completely manageable and not contagious, which is great. But at this point, we need a New Hope rescue and a committed foster. He is such a wonderful boy and not dog or people reactive at all. Our friends at Four Paws and Friends have committed to assisting with the medical/medication he may need. Please message us if you are able to help.

Well, look no further! This is sweet boy, Carter at mcacc west🫶🏼❤️

Carter is about 2 years old and does not like the shelter at all😭 What he does love is being held and given love❤️ Carter appears completely potty trained, affectionate, kennel trained, and allowed me to cut his dreaded fur and wipe him with wipes. He does not appear dog reactive at the shelter, but he is shy, so he will need all the recommended time separated to decompress and very slow and safe introductions to other pets.

This boy is too cute to spend one more day in a shelter. He wants to feel safe❤️

Update 11/30: Chopper is now back in medical and not adoptable at this time. They are running tests as he is not feeling well. We are not sure what’s exactly going on, but he will most likely need a foster for a rescue to save him.

Chopper was found as a stray by the amazing HARTT - Humane Animal Rescue and Trapping Team, and thank goodness because he would not have survived much longer.

We are looking for a committed foster for Chopper because we are concerned about his jaw/mouth. He is extremely thin, but tonight when a volunteer was feeding him, she noticed that he was having a really hard time keeping food in his mouth to swallow. Our friends at Four Paws and Friends would like to assist to help get him seen by an outside vet to get Chopper the help he needs, but he needs an adopter or foster first.
