The Collar Club lost another precious kitty last night. This was Lico, a feral cat who was afraid of everything, literally wild. It took me a few years to earn her trust and touch her. Only one of her owners had ever been able to get that close to her. RIP my sweet girl.

The 4th of July is fast approaching. There are things that you can do to minimize your pets discomfort. Make sure that a current phone number or address is on the tags attached to the collar. Exercise your dog early in the day. Make sure they are in a secure area. Close draperies or blinds. Play music or the television a little louder than normal to block out the noise of fireworks. If your pet is prone to being distressed, talk to your vet about an anxiety reduction medication. Hope that you and your pets have a safe and fun 4th.

This is a Colorado River toad, sometimes referred to as a Sonoran River toad. They can be deadly to your dogs. They are usually found only during the monsoon season but have resurfaced early this year. If your dog comes into contact with one, rinse your dogs mouth out with a hose for about twenty minutes. Remember to position your dog's head so that the water is running out rather than being swallowed. Follow up immediately with your emergency vet. Did you know that more dogs are killed by their encounter with these toads than Rattlesnakes? Both Rattlesnake and toad avoidance training are available and highly recommended. Ask your vet for a referral to someone in your area.

Who remembers William? The stray who had been living on the streets and starving. Poor old guy is Valley Fever positive and was on the euthanasia list. Saved by one of my clients just a day before he was to be put down, he's now living his best life, living inside, with a soft bed and plenty of food, treats and love. He loves his walks and gets so excited when I visit.

RIP my sweet boy Shadow. 22 years is a wonderfully long life for a kitty. You will be missed. I enjoyed meeting you and caring for you when your family was away.

One of my neighbors is having to re-home his dogs. Both purebred German Shepherds. UTD on shots, kennel trained and good with children. The lighter one, Oden has AKC paperwork. The darker one doesn't. If interested in one or both call Josh at 1(520) 409-0188

Remember to make sure that your pets are in a secured area tomorrow night. ( New Year's Eve ) Some of your neighbors may be celebrating with fireworks which can cause your pets to become frightened and try to escape . Wishing everyone a happy and safe New Year's Eve and a blessed 2024.

Today one of the sweetest boys crossed the rainbow bridge. He was such a gentle soul, not a mean bone in his body. He sure loved his mama and hated to be separated from her. We had to trick him but he always was listening for her return. After being rescued by my clients he led a wonderful life including traveling and running on the beach. I'm going to miss you Wally. Until we meet again, RIP.
