When Raven the German Shepherd first arrived, she was highly reactive to both dogs and people. After two weeks of board and train, here she is handling the sight of both dogs and people like a champ. We are so proud of her. Now the next step is to teach her owners so Raven can transfer this new version of herself home. #germanshepherds #boardandtrain #struttyourmuttgj #jointhepack #bethecontrast #the95fiveclub #dogsofinstagram #dogs #dogtraining #dogtrainer #reallifetraining #behaviormodification

This is Amy and Toby the Australian Shepherd. Amy has been struggling with Tobyâs reactivity towards other dogs for the first four years of Tobyâs life. She had been to multiple trainers and was continuing to struggle with his intense reactivity. She signed up for a board and train with us. After the board and train, Amy has spent several months doing extensive work to not only rebuild her relationship with Toby, but to teach him that there is no need to react because he is safe when he is next to his handler. This was not an easy road for Amy or Toby. We worked together for over six months and there were lots of ups and downs, lots of tears, and lots of desires to throw in the towel. When I met with her, I encouraged her to keep going as most people donât realize that rehabilitating a dog takes tons of daily work with lots of consistency. More often than not, people will throw in the towel because that amount of work was not some thing they signed up for and, as a result, they never got to see their dogs full potential. Amy was determined, despite all of her ups and downs, and she worked through all of their struggles for months until she got to this point that youâre seeing in this video. Toby was able to walk by not only dogs on a leash in close proximity staring at him intensely, but he could walk by fence lines with visibly barking dogs going nuts towards him. Amy was able to stay calm and composed, she kept Toby in line with her the entire time. I could feel real harmony between the two of them and I could feel a vibe coming from Toby where he finally realized that he is fully advocated for and can feel safe with Amy. It was a truly rewarding experience for me. I know Amy would agree that all of her hard work was well worth it. Amy and Toby now get to do anything from leash walks to off leash reliability at a park or on a trail with ease and enjoyment. Iâm very happy for these two and Iâm beyond proud that they both were able to meet the maximum
Little B, who was originally picked up on the streets as a stray dog, came to us for a handful of behavioral issues that all stemmed from an insane prey drive with zero impulse control. After 6 months of diligent work by Laurie & Bob the owners, Little B has earned the ability to enjoy off leash hikes with 100% reliable freedom. His life will forever be filled with lots of adventures! I think all three of these pack members feel lucky to have found each other đ„° #struttyourmuttco #boardandtrain #offleashreliability #bethecontrast #hikingwithdogs #the95fiveclub

There are moments in my career where clients show me what theyâve been able to accomplish with their dog and even I am in shock. Iâm having one of those moments đ€Ż
Lilly, the 4 year old mutt in this video, was so unbelievably reactive towards people that I wasnât quite sure just how far we would be able to get her. Lilly is/was what I call an auto-barker. Auto barkers will bark the moment they see their trigger. They donât think about the trigger before they react, proximity from the trigger doesnât matter to the dog, just the sight of the trigger creates an automatic reaction in the dog. On top of her auto response at the sight of trigger, once she began reacting towards a trigger, she would carry on barking in a loud obnoxious fashion that reminded me of a screaming Chewbacca. It was truly unbelievable and such an enormous challenge.
Here we are now, only 2 1/2 months after Lilly started the board and train program with us, and Cindy, her owner, is walking Lilly around Loweâs without a single reaction. Cindy worked her ass off for this!!! Lilly may not have been in training for long, but Cindy has gone above and beyond with the training to reach this point. Iâm proud of both of these ladies today and Iâm still in a little bit of shock. Haha Cindy has more work to do to make sure Lilly continues with her progression, but after today I have absolute faith in these two ladies. Fantastic job!!! đđ»đđ»đđ»
Caution: we only take dogs off leash in public places if they are 100% reliable and have been proofed over and over again to ensure reliability. Please donât let your dog off leash if you canât control them around ALL forms of stimulus!!!
Meet Pebbles and his 12 year old pack leader Gabby. Pebbles came to us for many reasons including an escape artist who would get away from the family and not come when called, highly reactive towards dogs, bikes, cars, and people, pulling on the leash, not listening to anyone in the family, and many other unwanted indoor behaviors. After a board and train and months of follow through from Pebbleâs family, he is now off leash reliable in all situations, he chooses to stay close to his pack regardless of the distraction, he will listen to everyone in the family, and his in home behaviors are excellent. This took a ton of work from everyone involved in Pebbleâs life and the pay off has been truly incredible. Iâm so proud of this happy family and Iâm truly amazed at the outcome that wouldnât have been possible without the whole families dedication. Pebbles will be living an adventurous life full freedom that he will enjoy and the owners can control!đ€
I wish I had a before video to show everyone just how far Koda the Great Dane has come! Koda was/is one of the most severe cases of leash reactivity Iâve seen. One, he would become instantaneously reactive by barking and lunging at the end of the leash at just the initial sight, sound, or smell of a dog. And two, because keeping your cool and staying calm when a dog the size of Koda is lunging and barking is almost impossible, even for us trainers. There is a real sense of feeling unsafe when a dog that large and powerful is flipping out. The outcome of this video was a magical moment for Koda, his owner Selena, and me. Itâs these moments right here that help remind me to believe in the process of training. No matter how hard the dog, if the right steps are taken and the right lifestyle is applied to any dog, even the most severe cases can transform.
This didnât happen overnight. It happened gradually over time laying out a strong foundation of training and communication, taking baby steps to ensure we donât push Koda over his threshold for tolerance, tons of repetition and positive exposure to stimulus, and an accumulation of proper lifestyle changes at home that brought Selena and Koda to this point.
If it wasnât for Selenaâs patience, determination, and consistency, none of this would have been possible. Although there is more work to be done, more repetitions to be had, and potential ups and downs that may happen along the way, todayâs progress is a great testament to Selenaâs hard work and dedication. Itâs also a testament to Kodaâs potential and capabilities when he is set up for success with proper training, lifestyle etiquette, and an owner who is willing to do the tedious steps it takes to accomplish such enormous progress. Way to go Selena and Koda! #believeintheprocess #boardandtrain #isthatahorse #bethecontrast #struttyourmuttco #the95fiveclub
Here we have Timber the mascot of Timberline Bank. When Timberâs family first called us, Timber was out of control and anxious. She was hyperactive, couldnât sit still, couldnât walk nicely on or off of a leash, didnât come when called, ran at people and jumped on them, and was overall a challenging mascot to have running around the bank. Luckily for Timber, she has one of the most dedicated and consistent group of owners Iâve had the pleasure of working with. Gianna, Gabe, Jeff, and Londa all followed my instructions to a tee. Iâm sometimes still amazed at how much they all embraced the training, trusted in my expertise, and advocated for Timber. And you can see their dedication in the outcome of training! Timber can now successfully walk around anywhere in the bank off leash with a reliable recall, she will not approach anyone without being given permission to go say hi, she doesnât jump on people at all when she is greeting them, and once she is done saying hi to someone, she can be called back into training mode with her handler and focus on following her human around in a perfect heeling position. I honestly canât verbally express how proud and excited I am for all of them. Happy dog, happy owners, happy bank, and a happy trainer! đ„°đ #timberisthebest #timberlinebank #boardandtrain #bethecontrast #struttyourmuttco #the95fiveclub
I am so impressed with this pack! JJ contacted me about 6 months ago for both his dogs. They are both around 6 years of age and were pulling and highly reactive on a leash. JJ has worked his butt off to train both dogs individually. He wasnât impatient with either of them and kept working them individually until the were both ready to be good influences on each other. Here they are experiencing the benefits of JJâs hard work and pack walking calmly side by side with each other. Iâm unbelievably proud of all three of them! JJâs dedication is to be admired to say the least and as a result, now all three of them get to enjoy a stress free walk together. #teamawesome #boardandtrain #bethecontrast #struttyourmuttco #the95club
Teaching your dog proper door etiquette is one of the most important things you can teach any dog. Pebbles, who is here for a board and train, was infamous for taking every opportunity to bolt out of a door and take off. We teach every dog who comes here that âdoor open does NOT mean goâ and âletâs goâ is the only invitation for the dog to exit or enter the door no matter what. Not only does this have enormous safety benefits for your dog, but it sets the proper tone for every activity you share with your dog. Pebblesâ owners are going to feel much safer and stress free as they continue to reinforce proper door etiquette with Pebbles at home. #dooretiquette #doorwaysmatter #boardandtrain #bethecontrast #the95fiveclub #struttyourmuttco
