I was sitting in a waiting room waiting for my car to finish servicing when a lady and her child walked into the lobby. The child was making all sorts of very loud noises, bossing her mom around, and attempting to boss everyone in the lobby around. The child approached the personal space of a few complete strangers and threw an absolute fit when they were restricted from approaching everyone in the lobby. The lady then sat down in the waiting room and gave her child some water. The kid was so worked up and excited that they spilled water all over the floor intentionally. The lady laughed and thought it was funny, eventually cleaning up the mess. The lady had to tell the child several times to quit climbing all over the furniture and approaching every person in the waiting room for engagement. When no one paid attention, the child would whine and holler in protest. The lady would simply say, not everyone is here for you, while she continued to read magazine. The child was able to get attention from others in the waiting room by acting out for attention. The child would pace back and forth, crawl all over the furniture, make a high pitched voice towards strangers they wanted attention from, and back talk the lady if she tried to put any restrictions on the child. The strangers would think the child’s behavior was funny and they made sure to reinforce that behavior with laughter and engagement. Does this sound like behavior that should be condoned? Is this something you would allow your child to do? Spoiler alert‼️The lady had her husky with her not a human child. This is extremely common. People disagree if a child behaved a certain way, they call their dog their child, but they’d allow their dog to do the exact behavior they’d restrict their child from. It doesn’t make sense. If we are going to call our dogs our children or our fur babies, then we need to hold the dog to the same standard we hold our children. A behaved dog needs to be normalized inste
