We’re feeling grateful as we reflect on the amazing day we spent with our community at Black Butterfly Farm earlier this month. Under sunny skies, we came together to clear more than 10 rows of summer crops, preparing the fields for winter and the seasons ahead.

Our hardworking volunteers also helped harvest 230 pounds of peppers and 120 pounds of eggplant, which have since been distributed by

After several hours of hard work, we gathered for a warm chili lunch with ALL the fixings from plus incredible baked treats from our friends Sarah and Isaiah 🍲🍪

Volunteers and neighbors who joined us also went home with pounds of fresh produce, including sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and more.🍠🌶️🍆

This time of year reminds us how much we rely on and appreciate everyone who supports us—by showing up, spreading the word, or partnering with us to make our work possible. To everyone who came out or contributed—we appreciate you!! 🧡🤎💛

🥕 Have you noticed a different farmer at our market stand each week or the ever-changing variety on our table? That’s our collective market program in action!

Since 2011, our stand at the has united Baltimore City’s talented farmers, offering a bountiful and diverse selection that small urban farms couldn’t achieve alone.

By collaborating to staff the stand, farmers gain market presence without the pressure of weekly commitments, allowing them more time to focus on their farms.

Our member farms are committed to sustainable practices, ensuring high-quality products that respect both the land and the community.

And best of all, profits go directly back to the farmers! This dynamic program empowers our members economically while providing customers with fresh, hyper-local products.

🌱 By shopping at our stand, you’re directly supporting urban agriculture, sustainable farming, and a more resilient food system in Baltimore!

📍 Find us this Saturday, 7 AM–12 PM, and stock up for your Thanksgiving needs!!

📅 After this week, we’ll switch to our winter market schedule and will be at the market every 1st and 3rd Saturday.

Our final field day of 2025 was a hit! 🍄✨ our members and their mushroom project, Charm City Caps led a super engaging workshop on mushroom cultivation.

Violet walked us through their indoor growing setup, where Lion’s Mane and Oyster mushrooms are cultivated in a converted shipping container. We learned about the importance of sterilization and maintaining humidity levels for success.

Pertula shared about A4C’s mission and the exciting news that they have just purchased their own land!

David explained the fascinating methods of mushroom inoculation and cultivation. After that, we headed into the woods to try it ourselves! Attendees drilled holes into a freshly fallen tree near a stream (mushrooms love moisture!) and filled them with inoculated plug spawn, sealing the holes with wax. With time, we’ll have fruiting logs! 🪵 🍄‍🟫

If you’d like to get your hands on some mushrooms, Charm City Caps has them available for purchase! Follow .a4c and find them at our stand at the Saturdays from 7 AM to 12 PM.

Thanks to ALL of our attendees and field day hosts for making this season of learning in the field so memorable! 🌿✨

Farming is hard work! So this year, based on member feedback, we organized several workshops to support farmer wellness. We kicked off the season with a Health & Safety session focused on heat, hydration, and injury prevention, followed by an ergonomics workshop facilitated by

Recently, we held interactive sessions on communication and conflict resolution, led by wellness experts Aya Burt, M.Ed., and Lauren Hawkins, ND. Over coffee, tea, and lunch, participants learned strategies for navigating challenges, and improving communication on the farm. Each attendee also received a wellness gift box to provide a little extra comfort and a workbook to foster ongoing growth.

Special thanks to and .lightjunction for hosting, and to Lauren and Aya for leading such a thoughtful wellness experience. We’re excited to keep learning together, cultivating care, and working to support the vitality of our farming community!
