And with that, public lessons are done.
I want to thank everyone who has been a part of this for the past 8 years. Im so proud of all of you, and so happy to have been a part of your horse journey. Some for months, some for years, and some just for the odd birthday ride. You cant know how much its meant to me.
Im moving into a different chapter of my life, and that does mean that Emberwood Equestrian is on hiatus until further notice. Thats not a promise to return, just a possibility. I am still doing some lessons for some folks who own their own horses, but just a couple, and theyre close friends anyway. This next adventure is going to simply be discovering the joy of owning horses again, for me.
Stay in touch. We'll still do the odd Emberwood party of potluck, have some play days with old students and volunteers through the summer. But for now, this will be the last post of this page. I wish you all the very absolute best.

Remy got a haircut, and some attention tonight! I brought him in to clean him up a bit, and Jo just happened to be riding tonight. After her lesson we tossed her on Remy in his halter. He was perfect. 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Slightly sloppy footing, and half the arena fence blew down yesterday, but three spicy ponies for lessons this morning! Addie and Kommac worked on canter leads on the straightaway, and trotting calmly after cantering. Nora and Charlie worked on canter to halt and halt to canter transitions. Jeff and Iggy worked on trot to walk transitions, keeping the inside shoulder up through turns, and not blowing the outside shoulder for circles. Very good rides!

Charlie was kinda on his game tonight! Nora and Charlie are going to a western speed show for the first time ever this Saturday, and weve been practicing for the past couple weeks 😬. Charlie has seen all these patterns (barrels, keyhole, poles, and down&back) a handful of times, and already has the majority of them memorized. Is it going to be perfect? No. Are we banking on placing or winning anything? Also no lol. Are we going out to have fun and get awesome pictures (thanks to )? YES! Excited for the nonsense!

And thats the end of the 223 season.
So incredibly proud of all my riders this year! The amount of work they put it absolutely shows in their riding. We had a blast all season and Im thrilled to have found such a great group of people to enjoy this sport with.

Freeze warnings overnight means blankies for the boys.
We used to not touch blankets until -10F, but we also took winters off work, and our horses were younger and had no issues like arthritis to contend with. Nowadays, freezing means blankies.
FOREVER more important than blankets, though - the 3200lbs of hay that gets rolled out every week for the six horses we care for! The colder it is, the more hay they require! We came out this morning, and only two horses were eating. The rest had gorged enough overnight and decided a nap in the morning sun was a better way to spend their time 😍
High in the 40s today means we DID remove blankies for the day. Theyll be back on tonight since we'll get lows in the 20s the next two nights as well.
