Oh, my girls. I hope you know how we value you. I hope you know how the horses look for you when you’re not here, and realize how happy they are to do their best for you when you’re here.
We have watched these girls and young women grow in leaps and bounds over the years they have been here. They work hard, and our horses reap the benefits.
We are so wildly proud of how these kids have handled themselves at Mighty Oaks. They are mature, professional, kind to each other, and grateful to be here. They are careful and conscientious with our animals, our property, and our clients. They go above and beyond without being asked and often without any reward other than the knowledge of what they are doing for the horses. This crew is the best we’ve ever had, and the work they’ve gotten done this summer is astonishing.
Summer is over, and our last day of internship was today. After a fast-paced morning of scrubbing and grooming and cleaning and leading and checking and double-checking, we played. The girls blindfolded me and led me horses to identify just by touch. It was hilarious fun!
Our trail rides on our property will speak for themselves in the pictures you will see in this post. It was an absolutely perfect day.
Girls- we love you, and are so proud of you. We want so much for you to look back on your time here with pride and amazing memories and joy. The skills you are learning here will follow you your whole lives- and look darn good on a college or job application. We will provide glowing references for your dedication, work ethic, and integrity!
I listen to you make plans for projects for the Fall and next summer, and I am humbled, a little astonished, and so happy. The horses you love so much will be here, God willing, waiting for their helpers, friends, and playmates to appear.
All our love,
Angie, Cuda, Amber, Ann, Gene, Peggy, Linda, and Geraldine
Cisco and Phoenix are good friends and are buddy grooming. Buddy grooming is a mutually beneficial activity where they get their itchy spots scratched and gives them a sense of belonging in the herd. #mightyoaks #cisci #phoenix #horses #horsesofinstagram #buddygrooming #bff #youvegotafriendinme
And this is why Jet will ALWAYS be the one manning our kissing both 💋 #mightyoaks #jet #horsesofinstagram #thiskiss #gimmeeasmooch #blackhorsesofinstagram

Sound way up!!
And here we have the majestic KC, show horse extraordinaire, a true example of dignity and grace 😂.
He just really gets into rolling, ok? It’s always fun to explain to people who have never seen a horse roll before that the enthusiastic rolling and shaking are not signs of anything scary. KC is just enjoying himself immensely!

Come along with us for part of our morning blanket check 🥶
Ah, yes, we remember the beautiful Spring day when it was warm and green and beautiful enough for Ashley to ride our handsome Jetty outside.
Sunday. It was Sunday. As we slog through the snow again to wipe the mud off the dogs before they come inside, we look forward to riding outside again.
Ashley did a beautiful job with the silly brute, who only wanted to cavort on the hillside and flirt with the mares. Her big lope up the hill had this girl smiling from ear to ear! Spring makes the horses feel extra bouncy, and Ashley loved every minute! Good job, Ash!!
