Our Christmas Peace in the Pasture event was so fun, and so lovely. When people leave with big hugs, genuine gratitude, promises to return, and saying beautiful things about the event and especially the horses, it chokes me up.

From the professor from Argentina proclaiming Henry to be “perfect, in every way,” to the anxious young woman (who had taken a vicious fall at another barn) trotting gleefully on my big Arabian gelding, to the mom with tears in her eyes telling us how grateful she is to see her daughter having fun on a horse again, to the grandma who crawled on big Takota ba****ck and had the best time…I could go on an on. These are the reasons we do this job, and love this job so much.

Izzy, your leadership, coaching, planning, hard work, and delicious food are making these events irresistible! We are so proud you have joined our team.

‘Tis the Silly Season! Mighty Oaks Holiday Horse Camp will be held Saturday, December 28th, from 11-3!! Campers will groom, lead, and ride horses most of the time. They will ride ba****ck and with saddles in our insulated arena, and learn to steer their own horses by the end of camp, if they choose!

We will serve a wonderful hot lunch, have plenty of drinks on hand, and play holiday games. We provide helmets, the kids provide the laughter, and the horses provide the magic of the season! This camp will fill fast, so message us here to get your riders registered and pay a $50 deposit, which goes to the $120 price of camp.

The holiday season, as wonderful as it is, takes a toll on all of us. We get tired, stressed, worried, forgetful, and sometimes filled with panic that our efforts to make things perfect for our loved ones will fall short.

Give yourself (or someone you care about) the gift of two hours standing in a quiet arena, leaning into a gentle horse, and telling her all your worries. Breathe with her, bury your face in her soft fur, and let her show you all her itchy spots and how to scratch them.

We will teach you what you need to know to be safe with our horses, a little about how to relax with them, then either allow you to join the group learning more about horses or be left alone to just be with your horse.

We will feed you an amazing lunch, give you a chance to ride, and send you home relaxed and happy. Join us at our Mighty Oaks Holiday Peace in the Pasture on Sunday, December 15th, from 1-3. Cost is $90 per person, and includes lunch. Message us here to reserve your spot and send a $50 deposit. ❄️

Wow, are we tired! Eighteen riders kept four instructors hopping today. Happy squeals and joyous laughter didn’t faze our lesson horses, who as always were good as gold.

Watching a young woman’s face light up as she finally trots the smoothest transition from shoulders in to shoulders out made us all glow with pride in the youngster who wouldn’t give up. Even silly Jet knew he’d done the best job ever! We didn’t even get pictures of everything, but enjoy the few we managed to take!

Hearing grateful parents give glowing reports of the things their kids said about their day at Mighty Oaks makes us so grateful - for our horses, for this opportunity to teach so many young riders, and for the strength to keep going when we are tired.

Our next event will be Sunday, December 15th, from 1-3:00. Spend a couple of hours getting to know our horses, pet and brush them all you like, take a ride, and have an incredible lunch at Christmas Peace in the Pasture. Cost is $90 per person, and includes lunch. Message us here to save yourself a spot! Watch for our holiday kids horse camp coming soon!

Fifteen people stood in our arena, in total silence. Our lovely, gentle horses stood completely still while their people buried their faces in the soft fur of their horse’s neck. After 30 seconds, my breath caught as I watched our big mare Rain wrap her neck around her person and close her eyes. The silence continued, and our staff felt privileged to witness this moment of incredible peace, and felt so proud of our horses. The big, strong man and the big, strong mare were totally in tune to each other, gentle with each other, and thoroughly enjoying their moment together.

Peace in the Pasture was so much fun! It was a quiet, sweet, gentle two hours of snuggling kind, happy horses. Linda Dregseth taught us the basics of bladder meridian therapy, and Henry was a wonderful demo horse! Izzy led us through some relaxation exercises, then fed us a huge and delicious lunch. Those who wanted to ride a little did, and had huge fun.

It was so good to have Rylee Singleton back, and watch her enjoy Piper and Echo, who she had never ridden before. Special thanks to Melissa, Adam, Christin, photographer Marissa, Linda, and the rest of the volunteers! Our staff is always so happy and grateful for your capable help.

Watch our page for the Christmas edition of Peace in the Pasture on Sunday, December 15, from 1-3:00 at Mighty Oaks. Reservations can be made at any time for this event, just message us right here!

Today was a beautiful day, and Sunday is supposed to be even warmer! Either way, our insulated arena will be warm and full of lovely horses to snuggle. We have four spots left for Peace in the Pasture this Sunday, November 10, from 1-3. Izzy is planning amazing food for all of us! Get your picture taken on one of our sweet, gorgeous lesson horses, too. Let the hunters do their thing, and give yourself a little gift for a couple of hours. All proceeds go to care of the horses. Our upcoming Peace in the Pasture event, being held on Sunday, November 10th, from 1-3 PM, serves as a place and space to allow animals and humans a moment of respite. The focus on this time is for connection, calmness, and overall tranquility.

We invite you to come love on the amazing horses of Mighty Oaks; all of whom which have stories of strength and resilience like our own.

In this two hour course we will focus on grooming the horses, learning to lead, breathing and relaxation techniques, touring the farm, as well as some riding. Centering ourselves and amazing snacks will be an emphasis, if not an imperative.

This is a beautiful event which we hope to share with you! To register, message us here and send a deposit!

Our next event, Peace in the Pasture, is coming November 10, from 1-3:00 at Mighty Oaks! Spend some time relaxing with our gentle horses, learning to brush, lead, and safely handle these amazing creatures. You may even get a chance to go for a short ride! Taking the time to listen to the stories and the horses reminds us to listen to what we tell ourselves, and how we take care of ourselves. Here is the short version of one of our horse’s stories:

The tall, slender Paint mare turns wary eyes in her scarred face to watch your every move. You see she looks thin, and wonder if the leg that shows evidence of a terrible old wound can hold her. As you smile at her, and speak softly, you see the hope bloom in her glacier blue eyes and she comes closer. The wind slams the door behind her and everyone jumps but the mare, and you realize she is completely deaf.

This sweet mare has stories to tell, should you choose to listen. Phoenix was starved down to a 1 of 9 on the body condition scale, which meant she was actively dying of starvation. It took an entire team of people working around the clock for weeks to save her life. She has no teeth left to grind her food, because she was trying to survive by eating rocks and trees. The scars on her face and leg make your heart ache. Phoenix has no reason to be gentle or loving, yet she is both.

Some horses need more love and affection than others. They need gentle, quiet movements, strong massages and scratches, and long, tender hugs. Phoenix only wants to stand touching a person, and being touched. She will stand for hours to get pets. I never feel like the time we spend with her is enough, and neither does she.

Every horse at Mighty Oaks has their own legend. Every horse here is used for lessons, in one way or another. They all have something to teach. It is our responsibility and our privilege to care for these equine athletes to the best of our ability. They are both the legacy and the future of the horse industry.

We invite you now to join us in getting to know our herd, and feeling the magic we find in our beautiful horses for yourself. Feel their hearts beat under your hand, and their huge lungs slowly and steadily rise and fall under your face as you rest it against them. Be in the moment with these sweet animals and let the world fall away, for a couple of hours.

Register for the event by messaging us here, and sending a $50 deposit. Entire cost is $90, which includes an amazing lunch by our house foodie and your instructor, the incredible Izzy!

Halloween Camp 2024 was a huge hit, as always! We laughed so hard at our unicorn sentry, who greeted everyone quite merrily. The games and tour kept the kids running and laughing, but our unbeatable lesson horses were the stars of the show, as always!

Barbie and Ken (aka London and the gorgeous golden Gus) worked hard all afternoon. Gus carried one or two little campers at a time, sweetly and quietly, all afternoon. We were so proud!

I can’t remember if we used 10, 12, or 46 horses- it’s all a blur. I do know that our hungry Halloween monsters devoured the mummy dogs, chips, sloppy joes, and spooky s’mores pies with alarming speed!

Our amazing staff and incredible volunteers made this camp so safe and so memorable for all our campers. Everyone who helps is aware that these camps fund our horse care, and they show up again and again to help care for the horses they love. The horses might not be aware of how sweet you help make their lives, but we are. We are so grateful to all of you.

To all of our campers- thank you for sharing your joy, silliness, and the obvious love for our horses with us. We were so proud of all of you, and so happy you were here! Whether it was your first camp with us or your tenth, we were so happy to spend the day with you. Come see the horses again soon!

Special thanks to Cora and April for the wonderful photos from the event!

Keep an eye on our page as we will be announcing our Thanksgiving and Christmas kids camp dates very soon! Reserve your camper's spot right away...these camps fill fast!

Well, we’ve fallen behind in posting parties and lessons again! Here are pics from one of our most favorite- Cailyn’s Birthday Party!!

We had a wonderful time with this amazing family- even got a few grown-ups to ride! Sully the cat was the best party cat (no, he wasn’t, that’s a lie), the horses were their most wonderful selves, and the beautiful weather made the day even better. We smiled to ourselves as we heard wild laughter from a gaggle of girls running through the yard and having the best time. Their joy made our day perfect

Our Halloween Bash Horse Camp for next Saturday is full! Watch for the hilarious pictures soon!

We try really hard to find creative ways to keep our horses happy, calm, and active. One of our newest ideas turned into the most wonderful, joyous two hours- our Peace in the Pasture event was a huge success! So much so that we are almost half full for the next Peace in the Pasture on November 10th! Our new instructor, Izzy, knocked this one out of the park!

A group of lovely adults dropped their worries at our door and stood quietly with the horse they chose, feeling them breathe, trying to figure out what touches the horses liked best, and staring into huge, gentle eyes. They rested their heads against the horses’ powerful necks and closed their eyes and let their minds wander to beautiful things. Our participants relaxed, breathed, laughed, walked, and fell in love with these sweet horses. Some chose to ride, some didn’t- and it was all ok. We ate a huge pile of delicious, healthy food, and took a thousand pictures. It was a perfect two hours.

Again, our next Peace in the Pasture will be held Sunday, November 10th, from 1-3. Cost is $90, and a $45 deposit will hold your spot. Limited spots available.

Oh, today was fun!! Two instructors taking out trail rides in 35 acres of mighty oak trees, lessons going on in the indoor arena at the same time, beautiful weather- it doesn’t get better than this! Trail ride lessons are for current students only, and these kids have learned so much on the trails. Sunshine, fresh air, creaking leather, and the smell of horses is like a drug to us. If you know, you know.

Are you over-scheduled? Tired? Feeling a little frazzled, confused, or a little bit lost?

Horses have long been recognized as having deep empathy for human pain and emotion. They have huge electromagnetic fields (4x that of a human) and have been proven to make people feel great peace and comfort.

The horses at Mighty Oaks Equine Learning Center are exceptionally receptive to all the hugs, grooming, gentle touch, and simply sharing space with every human they meet.

Come to our “Peace in the Pasture”
Day. Relax, breathe, feel the sun on your face and rest your head against a gentle, warm horse. Put your arms around her neck and tell her what’s on your mind. She won’t tell a soul, and she won’t judge. Feel her energy sink into your bones and soothe your spirit and calm your mind. She will ask nothing of you other than tenderness, and she will give you that and so much more.

Give yourself a small gift, for a couple of hours. Give our horses the chance to show you what they have to offer. Peace in the Pasture will be held on Sunday, September 22nd, from 1-3pm. You will learn to groom the horses and lead them, spend some time wandering the farm to meet all the creatures, do some relaxation and breathing exercises, and have a really great snack! If you choose, you may ride the horse of your choice before you leave! Cost is $90 per participant, and reservations are required.
