Meet Evie ๐โโฌ the younger sister of last week's Caturday Spotlight, Wednesday. ๐คโจ
Wednesday is the ruler of their kingdom by default only because she came first in their household. Evie knows that she has what it takes to run their kingdom just as well if not better than Wednesday!! If only Wednesday would step down or make some room for her on the throne... ๐
In the meantime, Evie is making it everyone's business that she is not okay with being second best. She is putting on her best "mean, scary face" to prove that she could be the most powerful, intimidating ruler. Unfortunately, sometimes when she is trying to look scary she ends up looking like a cute ball of fluff making the smolest blep. ๐ฅน
Who knows if these two will ever fully share their kingdom in peace or if their competition for the throne will continue on forever. ๐

Meet Wednesday ๐โโฌ๐โจ 1/2 of a fluffy black cat duo. We've had the pleasure of visiting this queen since 2021. ๐
She started off as the sole ruler of her kingdom, but then her sister Evie came along. After much consideration, Miss Wednesday begrudgingly decided to share her kingdom under one condition: she would get the bigger castle aka cat tower. ๐ฐ Evie spitefully agreed. To this day, they are still fighting for the crown, but they have formed a treaty that allows them to (mostly) co-exist in peace.

Say hello to Luna, today's Caturday spotlight.๐โจ She's a pretty kitty we've been visiting for years now. Our team member Beth has known her even longer since she first got to meet her through FairyTails before our merge.
Luna is a sweet girl who will never say no to a second helping of food. She occasionally twerks (see last pic), and she likes to supurrvise whenever a meal is getting prepped. She lives with her two dog sisters. ๐๐ Her Golden Retriever sister Delta doesn't mind hanging around near her, on the other hand, her small but mighty Dachshund sister Ruby isn't afraid to give her a piece of her mind every now and then in typical doxie fashion. ๐

Meet Marissa ๐พ๐งก
She's an SA native currently studying at UTSA. Her family has a dog named Gunner, but she got her own very first dog, Rex "Rexy", during the pandemic and they became instant best friends spending a whole year in quarantine together. Words can't even express how much he means to her!
Rexy made her realize just how much she loved being around animals, so she began volunteering at the San Antonio Humane Society. It wasn't long after that when she heard about Just Fur A While! She got started with training during our busiest time of the year, but that didn't discourage her from filling up her free time with pet visits. She quickly grew to love all the different personalities of the pets we visit, and has been eager to learn as much as she can.
When she's not studying or pet sitting, chances are she's hiking local trails (sometimes with Rexy by her side), reading thriller novels, or baking desserts. ๐ช She recently also started going to plant nurseries around town.๐ชด She has been a wonderful addition to our team!

Meet Rachel ๐พ๐
She's got a home full of all types of pets back in Houston! She has a dog, three cats, three chickens, and two African Dwarf Frogs! She's even fostered kittens before such as the two cuties in the last picture! Her ball python, Mushu (shown in the first pic) is the only one of her pets who currently lives with her here in SA while she studies to become a pediatric dentist. ๐ฆท๐ชฅ
Yes, you read that right: Rachel is currently a junior in UTSA's pre-dental program! She is a part of the Pre-Dental Society in which she participates in a recurring event called Brush Rush. Her and her peers travel to elementary schools all over the city teaching kids the importance of oral hygiene. Isn't that amazing? Her dream is to be able to give children a positive impression of going to the dentist that will encourage them to maintain healthy dental habits well into adulthood.
You can find her haunting cafes city-wide during her study breaks. ๐ป When she's not studying, pet sitting, or working her second job as a tutor at Kumon, she's usually reading or watching one of her favorite shows: RuPaul's Drag Race. She is a self-proclaimed foodie and loves trying new restaurants around town. One other interesting activity that she's been practicing whenever she has free time is aerial silks!
We sure are lucky to have this busy bee ๐ on our team making our clients and their pets happy one visit at a time! ๐

Meet Danielle ๐พ๐งก
Would you believe us if we told you that Danielle didn't grow up around pets?
When you see how wonderful she is around them, you would never guess it! Danielle's originally from Oregon, but when she turned 25 she uprooted her life there and landed in San Antonio. Before she discovered her true passion for working in pet care, she worked in retail management for 10 years! When she finally left and got a job working at a doggy day care, that ignited her passion to dive into all things dog-related.
From then on, she wanted to care for pups of all shapes, sizes, and ages. She devoted time into learning about different breeds, personalities, language and safety. Eventually, she felt ready to adopt her first dog EVER--Amia! She went through many trials and tribulations, but she believes that her experiences have made her a better pet parent and advocate. ๐
Her family has now grown to five dogs and two cats! She is a huge advocate for pitbulls, who often get overlooked in shelters for stereotypes surrounding their breed. Her most recent adopted pup, Elvis, is a pittie mix.
In her down time, Danielle loves going to concerts and supporting local musicians such as her friends. ๐ถ She brings so much love and kindness to every pet visit (plus, she writes some of the most entertaining visit reports!) We're lucky to have her on our team.

Meet Patricia ๐พ๐
Can you guess how many dogs she's fostered over the years?
The answer is over 25! ๐๐
Patricia has been active in the rescue dog scene since 2016. One very lucky pup that she rescued only had minutes left to live before EBI (euthanasia by injection). Patricia named her Lucy, and she is now living the dream life in Washington State with a wonderful family who adopted her!
Out of the dogs she fostered and eventually found homes for, it was inevitable that Patricia ended up with two "foster fails" (see second pic). Paco "Paco Taco" is now 8 and Gracie "Gracie Girl" is 14 years old.
Aside from being heavily involved in helping dogs find their forever homes, Patricia also served as the past President of the Texas Chapter of Vesting America's Police K-9s. Their mission was to provide bullet proof vests for every working K-9 at no cost to their department or handler. Thanks to the dedication of Patricia and others involved in this organization, Texas finally passed an ordinance in 2019 requiring all departments equip their K-9s with bullet proof vests. ๐
Patricia is a Texas native from El Paso. She's been married to her high school sweetheart 35 years, and they've known each other for 47 years! ๐ She's a mom to one son, and in her spare time she loves cooking, gardening, hanging at the beach or local rivers, and browsing estate sales for unique finds.
We're thankful to have such a dedicated team member! Thanks for all you do, Patricia.

Meet Michelle ๐พ๐งก
When you send us a message on our social media pages, she's usually the one you'll be chatting with! ๐
Michelle grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. In 2018, she graduated from the University of Texas RGV with a BFA focused in graphic design. While in school, she worked as a graphic designer at a small printing and shipping business. After almost two years of doing that, she knew it wasn't what she pictured herself doing for the rest of her life. So in 2019, she relocated here to SA seeking a career change. She found what she was looking for with Just Fur A While!
When Cindy asked if she'd be interested in managing Just Fur A While's social pages, she was ecstatic. Now she was able to do two things she loved--spending time with pets and using her creativity! Pets were always a big part of her life growing up, from cats and dogs to mice, birds, and fish.
In her down time, she loves hiking with her boyfriend (and sometimes her dog Stevie) and she occasionally paints portraits of people and pets. She currently has three adopted fur-kids of her own (her dog, Stevie and two cats, Pumpkin and Jovi). ๐
She brings extra special love and care to all the pets she visits!

Meet Mayela ๐พ๐
For as long as she can remember, there has always been a dog in her household. Sadly, two of them passed away while she was studying toward a degree in accounting at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
After she graduated and moved into her own apartment, she missed having the companionship of a dog. So she decided to foster dogs for SA ROCKS. Since then, she's lived around every kind of dog you can think of, from chihuahuas to rottweilers with ages ranging from newborn puppies to seniors.
She finally made the decision to adopt one of her fosters named Emery. It wasn't long before she ended up also fostering Emery's mom and her entire litter! In July of 2022, she welcomed another member of the family--a baby boy! Him and the pups are the best of friends, and they love to shower him with kisses. ๐ฅฐ
When she's not pet sitting or working as a cost analyst at Becton Dickinson, Mayela is spending time with her beautiful family. ๐พ๐๐ถ She has shown so much compassion and care to our clients' pets over the years.

Meet Meagan ๐พ๐งก
Dedicated, trustworthy, and dependable are three standout traits that our team member Meagan has.
She grew up right here in SA and went to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi where she earned her BBA in finance as well as a teaching certification. She spent four years teaching middle schoolers math in the public school system, but she soon realized she wanted to do something different.
Pet sitting ended up being the unexpected detour she needed to realize her passion for working with animals. She grew up in a household of dogs, fish, and hamsters, so of course, it came naturally to her.
As a huge dog lover, Meagan primarily visits dogs (of varying shapes and sizes!). She has made such an impact that one of our clients who moved out of state last year took the time to leave us a Google review. Meagan took care of her Lab named Crosby ever since he was a puppy so she got to watch him grow. ๐ Our client was so appreciative of Meagan's patience and diligence in caring for him.
Meagan is married and doesn't currently have pets of her own, but she does have a "niece-dog" named Fuchs (German for fox) who is very special to her and a big part of her life. Just look at how adorable Fuchs is!! ๐
We are so glad to have Meagan on our team! ๐

Meet Beth ๐พ๐
She's the one you'll often hear on the other end of the phone when you call us! From answering phone calls, emails, going through client onboarding processes, and creating beautiful pet memorial collages, Beth truly does it all! She's Cindy's right-hand woman.
A Minnesota native, Beth came over to Texas with her husband, Tommy to escape the long, bitter winters over there. She has 2 kids, Nik and Courtney, as well as 2 precious fur babies, Tuna & Flair. ๐
She started off pet sitting in January 2017 for a local business called FairyTails which Cindy acquired in 2019-2020. When she had to undergo medical treatment and was forced to take it easy and be off her feet for a while, she continued to help Cindy with the business side of things. She's the most resilient, compassionate person you will ever meet.
Now that she's recovered, she's been taking on lots of pet visits to occupy her time. She recently accompanied Cindy to the Texas Pet Sitters Conference in Lakeview. It was her 2nd time ever attending. In her down time, she likes to root for her favorite teams, The Vikings and The Cowboys. ๐๐
We couldn't imagine our team without her!

This week, we'll be showcasing our paw-some team for Professional Pet Sitters Week, starting off with the leader of our "pack": Cindy Johnson. ๐ฅณ๐พ
Her love for animals has been lifelong, but her idea of incorporating it into a dream job didn't occur to her until an unexpected opportunity came along in 2005 when she was asked to watch a friend's dog. In 2007, she officially started her own pet sitting business under the name Bed & Biscuit Pet Care.
Then, in 2019, Bed & Biscuit became Just Fur A While Pet Services. Cindy ended up acquiring another local pet sitting business not too long after that allowing her to expand and meet lots of new fur-iends. ๐
Cindy is a proud mother of 2. She has been married to her husband, Matt for over 15 years. They currently have a cat named Sophia who they adopted during the pandemic.

He can put a powerful spell on you causing you to give him endless attention. โจ All it takes is one brush of his paw against you. His 2 dog siblings think they rule the house, but Gandalf and his cat crew know they are the true rulers of their kingdom. ๐
