Meet Guppy the Puppy.

She’s about 6-7 months old and is looking for her forever home. She’s doing amazing with house and crate training and she’s good with other dogs and kids.

Shes about 16 lbs now and we don’t expect her to get too much bigger. She appears to be some sort of beagle mix. She’s a really nice puppy and deserves a great home.

If you’re interested in Guppy please email us at [email protected] or call the office for more info.

Did you know that we now offer PHOVIA fluorescent light therapy in hospital? This therapy has been proven to speed up healing time of skin lesions up to twice as fast by accelerating natural skin regeneration.

PHOVIA via photobiomodulation (PBM). PBM is a low level form of light therapy which increases energy available for cell healing. It reduces inflammation, speeds up cell replacement, boosts local immune response, increases energy production and improves blood flow.

Phovia can be used to help heal canine and feline dermatological conditions including hot spots, lick granulomas, deep and superficial pyoderma, post-op surgery incisions, bite wounds, perinatal fistulas, puppy pyoderma, interdigital furunculosis, and calcinosis cutis.

Our little friend here definitely embraced the motto, “If I fit, I sit!”

January has arrived with colder temperatures and freezing nights, prompting outdoor animals to seek warm shelter. A common hiding spot is around cars, including the engine compartment and wheel wells.

For those who park outside rather than in a garage, here’s an important winter safety tip: always bang loudly on your car hood and check all four wheel wells before starting your engine.

Here’s a little throwback to a few weeks ago with an adorable litter of cane corso puppies we had the pleasure of caring for after whelping. Looking back at these sweet faces makes us excited to meet all the new furry additions joining your families this holiday season!

As you’re scheduling your vet appointments, we’d also like to remind you to start looking into trainers. Setting your puppies up for success early on makes it much easier to prevent behavioral issues than it will be to correct them later.

Buttons is a 9-year-old Chihuahua with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Rescued by our clinic manager three years ago after her previous owner passed away, she has become the unofficial greeter at the hospital. This tiny, sweet girl spends her days wiggling with joy and saying hello to everyone from the office.

Buttons’ favorite pastimes include snuggling up close, soaking up attention, savoring pup cups, and cheering on the University of South Carolina Gamecocks during football games.

Happy Monday! We are starting our week by introducing another adorable pup that lives with our assistant, Vanessa.

Meet Saraya Delilah, a nearly 7-year-old AmStaff mix and the niece of our kennel tech Vanessa. With only one braincell in operation, Saraya uses it to serve up sass, talk back, and wedge herself into your ribcage for constant cuddles. She’d happily use you as her personal chair if you’d let her. Known for her overdramatic sighs—like she’s paying bills and carrying the weight of the world—she’s usually found basking in the sun without a care. Though she dreams of chasing woodland creatures and stray cats, her escape attempts are hilariously unsuccessful. Saraya is equal parts sweet, hilarious, and unapologetically rude—Vanessa’s perfect little niece!

Just when you think your dog won’t eat strange things, they prove you wrong! This pup decided to have a feast on a pile of leaves in the backyard. Thankfully, their owners acted quickly, and we were able to remove all the foreign material from their stomach.

He’s recovering well and should be able to enjoy the rest of the holidays—hopefully leaf-free!

Brad is a LOVELY little pittie looking for his forever home. He’s excellent with other dogs and cats. He loves people and is crate trained. So far he seems really good in the house (he likes to bring you things - he brought me a tape measure last night) and likes to snuggle in warm blankets.

He’s neutered, vaccinated and ready for his forever home for the holidays. If you’re interested in adding Brad to your family, please contact our front office or email [email protected].

He is also available for foster! Rescue gives you everything you need, you just provide love and structure and prepare him for his forever home!

WE ARE CLOSED TODAY - we hope that your holiday was as “golden” as our day was when this cutie came in.

This munchkin was part of a litter of goldens that came in for their first puppy exams and vaccines before they start leaving for their new homes. 🧡

As we gather this week to celebrate with family and friends, please remember to keep your Thanksgiving feast on the table and your pets away from it!

Thanksgiving is one of the main holidays during which veterinary hospitals see an increase in vomiting, diarrhea, foreign body ingestion/blockages, and even pancreatitis cases due to pets ingesting food they should not.

Few things to remember:

- Fatty foods are hard for our pets to digest and ingestion can lead to a potentially serious condition called pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas). In many cases, once diagnosed with pancreatitis, your pet will need to be hospitalized.

- Cooked bones can damage your pet’s digestive tract and cause blockages.

- Holiday deserts/sweets can contain ingredients (such as dark chocolate, raisins, etc.) that have the potential of being toxic to our pets.

- Don’t turn your back on your trash! When things wind down and you start to clean up, take the trash to the outside trash cans. Every year, dogs get into the trash after the festivities wind down and ingest turkey carcasses, food wrappers, and various discarded food bits.

If you’re concerned that your pet has ingested something potentially harmful, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Melissa’s crew is full of personality, and we absolutely love getting to see them when they come into work!

• Maverick: An 11-year-old toy poodle who’s essentially Melissa’s shadow—he’s always by her side, no matter where she goes.
• Goose: An 8-year-old toy poodle who has a keen interest in the kitchen and is always ready for a game with his squeaky toys.
• PK (Porch Kitty): An 8-month-old tortoiseshell with a bit of an attitude, especially when the Christmas tree makes an appearance.

They each bring something special to their household, and their humans are lucky to have them around!
