Today was Joy’s 19th birthday! To me, she doesn’t look a day over 5. 😉
It was a busy day in general, so no cleaned up photos this year: it’s all Joy complete with mud on her cheeks and curiosity over what could be in my hand (which she did get a peppermint treat this morning 😋). She’s happy as a clam and I’m happy to have this old girl in my life.
So big happy birthday to my Sounding Joy! ❤️ 🎂
We have a snow storm that set in since 3pm today and will last until Sunday morning. Everyone was very happy to come in early and get cozy. 🥶

I had completely forgotten to post that Kate had left the farm around springtime to head off to training. But I’d like to announce that today she came home!
She spent all spring and most of summer learning to drive. She did phenomenal and it is so wonderful to have a cart pony again!! Will definitely post photos of her pulling a cart as we get re acclimated to driving again.
Just wanted to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Dorothy and Julie Childs for taking such good care of our girl these last couple of months! We really enjoyed our time visiting and getting driving lessons when Kate was ready for us to learn. And thank you to Don Yaw of Saddle View Farm LLC for bringing her and her driving equipment home. ❤️❤️❤️
Yesterday was hot (88 degrees Fahrenheit) so that means perfect bathing weather! Since I wasn’t able to get a birthday picture, here’s a photo of Sweets all cleaned up instead! 😁

A big Happy 18th to our Morgan mare, Joy!! I wish I could’ve gotten an outside photo today, but this photo was taken during the dinner turn in where she got a big ol’ tasty bucket! And she got a candy cane for a treat! She’s a happy horse now! 😁

After being stuck in the barn for 3 days due to Winter Storm Elliot, everyone finally got to go out an stretch. Boy did they have a lot of energy to burn! (And plenty of snow banks to get stuck in! 😄)

Just wanted to make the announcement that Scarlet is now in a new home!
Over the weekend, she made the journey south to her new farm where she's going to be everything a Kerry Bog can be: a future riding/driving pony, kid's pony, and broodmare!
For the last three days, she has been getting acclimated to her new friends and new pastures, and new owner Tammy says she has been doing great and everyone is in love.

💉 We always keep banamine, dexemethesone probiotics, electrolytes, ulcer guard and other supplements with us. If your horse needs extra care we are happy to give grain, special feed, or medicine. We've hauled horses to the vet for health certificates, trimmed horses, pulled shoes, given baths, picked up blankets and obeyed strict diets. 🌾
📃 As always we haul only clean horses and require a current negative coggins and health certificate along with brand inspections for brand inspection states.

Up to 8 inches of snow fell over the course of yesterday afternoon, and the mares had a great time being turned out in it this morning!
Scarlet wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but towards the end, she figured it out! :)
We start with what we call "light weaning" when we see that the dam is ready to be done. We will typically start by putting our foals in their own stalls at night, but will let them back out with their mothers in the morning. This gets the foals used to the idea of being by themselves (and moms a chance to get a breather). But over the week, Scarlet has shown signs that she doesn't really need her mother anymore. So as of today, mom and baby are officially on their own.
With the weaning, this marks the beginning of Lily's retirement as a broodmare. It's a bittersweet moment, but we are seeing her aging in her hips and knees and her last pregnancy was hard on her towards the end. She has produced some very nice foals for us, and we feel she deserves to start her golden years early. 💛
So far, she and Scarlet are handling the separation fantastically, and Lily is definitely happy to have her own space with her own food. ☺️
Scarlet's foal coat is coming in dark! And with her little ginger mane and tail, it's such a pretty look!
Kili got a good thorough bath and brushing today! Had to take a picture or two because we knew he'd roll in the dirt the second we turned him back out. 😆

The girls did good for the farrier yesterday. Their reward? Go out for the first time this year in the back pasture with the yummy tall grass! 🤩
Scarlet got her first farrier work done yesterday! Look at that tiny little hoof trimming!
Scarlet LOVES being petted and scritched/groomed (and even offers to groom back every time). She's a happy baby.

We had a successful herd introduction this weekend! Mama and baby are now officially out with the mares and everyone is doing great!
Today is the 6th birthday of our junior stallion, Kili!
Today was too windy and muddy for a good brushing and cleaning, but he at least stood pretty for a conformation shot. He's very curious about the new baby just born the night before!

On April 22 at 10:15pm - on day 349 - we welcomed our only foal for the year! It's a chestnut filly!!
We haven't decided on a name yet, but she's an absolute cutie!

On the right is her maternal grandsire, The Spotted Badger as a young stallion. Badger also appears a second time in her pedigree as a paternal great-grandsire.
We are just astounded at how much they look alike!
We'll probably be doing another comparison photo of these two again once Sweetie has finished filling out! ;)
Happy Birthday to Silverlight Sweet of Heart, who turns 2 years old today!
We got Sweetie back last summer when her owner needed to rehome her. (We hadn't made the announcement due to family issues keeping us preoccupied at the time). Since we've had her back, we've been delighted in watching her grow and find her valuable place within the herd. Since she reminds us of her grandsire, The Spotted Badger, we decided to retain her for our future breeding program.
Today’s the 340 mark!! Poor mama Lily’s getting uncomfortable, but no waxing yet. So gotta be any day!!

We moved the mamas and babies in with the rest of the herd. Georgie and Lily went first before Dixie and Arlene... but somebody didn't like being separated from his big sister and he had to voice his concerns over it. (He's a very vocal foal - it's adorable!) [This video is just a short brief demonstration. Will probably post more videos of him talking later. ;) ]

Every summer, Tipperary Kiss Me Kate enjoys it when we spray a little mist her way to help cool down. She doesn't seem to necessarily play in the water... she just likes to hang out underneath it long enough to get soaked and then she's good. :) (Note- the boys don't seem to care much for getting misted... as you can see by their reaction to just the tiniest bit of water falling on them... big babies, lol)
Another weekend at Silvery Moon- time to rotate and everyone was happy to follow! Arlene has settled into the herd perfectly and it was fun to watch her head out with everyone!
You know its officially spring when there's a little grass trying to grow in the back pastures and it's safe to let the herd out and get some different scenery!
Dixie and Arlene got to do some running in the back pasture! They are having a great time!
Silverlight Unexpected Arrival is officially 2 weeks old today! And after being stuck in the barn for 3 straight days due to a nasty winter storm, Arlene and mama Dixie Mayre had a great time running around in the fresh snow!

Silverlight Unexpected Arrival (aka Arlene) LOVED getting her buns scritched during the nighttime feeding. She loved it so much she tried to "groom" the air! She was more than happy to groom the back of someone's hand, too! ;) She just so adorable! <3 Goodnight all!
After being in the barn for the first 48 hours, we got to let everyone out... and even let Dixie and Arlene run around outside while we cleaned their stall! She is still so adorable trying to figure out her legs!! And mama is still keeping a watchful eye on her baby! <3
After being in for two days due to freezing rain and sleety snow, everyone finally got to go outside... to a fresh blanket of snow that was crunchy. Apparently, none of the Boggies have ever experienced crunchy snow because they were all jumping at the *crunch* *pow* *thud* the fresh snow made every time someone walked through it. The boys were exceptionally flashy while they ran through the snow and it made for a great video!
