ESCA Schedule for Hedgerow Maintenance - Continues

Please be aware that the clubs' work continues with the certified arborist to partner with the Grounds Committee on the clean up of our overgrown hedgerows. Heavy duty machinery will be used for the removal of unwanted undergrowth.

Below is the updated schedule for when the club is closed.
During the active time they are working the club will be closed for insurance purposes starting on:

Wednesday November 27th
Tuesday December 3rd
Wednesday December 4th

The contractor does not work Thursday Thanksgiving thru Monday December 1st so the club will be open.

ESCA Closed for Hedgerow Maintenance starting Thursday November 21st

Please be aware that the club has hired a certified arborist to partner with the Grounds Committee on the clean up of our overgrown hedgerows. Heavy duty machinery will be used for the removal of unwanted undergrowth.

The contractor has been retained for 5-7 working days. Schedule dependent on weather and holidays.

During the active time they are working the club will be closed for insurance purposes starting on:
Thursday November 21st
Friday November 22nd
Monday November 25th
Tuesday November 26th
Wednesday November 27th

The contractor does not work on weekends so the club will be open all weekends.

Share Memories of Lloyd & Support the Miller Family

Today the English Setter Club lost a dear member with the passing of Lloyd Miller. Lloyd has been a member for over 60 year. Information pertaining to Visitation and Services is noted below.

When I think of all the fun, all the trials, all the puppies, working dogs at the Setter club, the stories from long ago before many of our time in the sport I’ll think of Lloyd. All the lunches, all the dinners our group would share, Lloyd, lee Bird, Norm and me, the new guy, I’ll think of Lloyd. He never had a harsh word but always a kind hand. He loved his dogs with his whole heart. Lloyd always had a nice group of dogs, he loved his English Setters and English Pointers. Lloyd’s passion and excitement was endless. He would come in from running at Greenwood Forest and recant his dog’s performance with pride and joy in detail. Lloyd always had joy and excitement no matter what he did. Whether a Championship or a third place in a six dog puppy stake he was over the moon. He always would come back from a brace so excited from his run. We can all learn from the standard he set about enjoying his passions, dogs, golf, bowling and the English Setter Club. Lloyd seemed never to age, never to change. He was the same Lloyd from the day I met him. Lloyd leaves behind many with heavy hearts. He was a cornerstone to our field trial family. Facebook is filled with an outpouring of love, respect and memories from those that knew him and called him a friend. I was fortunate to be one of those people. Rest in peace Lloyd you will be missed and you will always be remembered.

Visitation will be this Sunday at the Mt. Laurel Funeral Home On Ark Road, from 1 to 3. Funeral Services from 3 to 4.

Burial Services will be Monday

Attention
The club driveway in front of the clubhouse will be closed this Tuesday morning from approximately 7am - 2pm for a large tree removal. The club will not be closed to dog training but please stay out of the work area.

No ATV, foot or auto traffic coming or going near the clubhouse, thank you.

Attached are the running order sheets for this weekend's field trial. The current plan is as follows:

Thursday, Sept. 26: Open All-Age Brace 1 Start 8:00 AM, Open Limited Gun Dog (Retrieving) will follow and we will start Open Gun Dog at 12:30 PM or upon completion of OLGD, whichever is later.
Friday, Sept. 27 We will continue OGD at 8:00 AM, then run Open Derby upon the completion of OGD.
Saturday, Sept. 28 Amateur All Age will start at @ 8:00 AM followed by Amateur Limited Gun Dog which will run until conclusion.
Saturday, Sept. 28 Amateur Walking Gun Dog will start at @ 7:30 AM.
Sunday, Sept 29 Amateur Gun Dog will start at 8:00 AM and run until concluded.
Sunday, Sept 29 Open Walking Gun Dog will start at 7:30 AM. Please note that we had a judges change. Joe Luisi will fill in for Megan McKay.

Unfortunately we did not have enough Walking puppy or Walking derby dogs so those stakes have been cancelled. If checks were received they will be destroyed.

Important Notes:
If you have not paid your entry fees, there will be "ENTRY FEE ENVELOPES" at the campground tent. Please place your payment in the envelope and fill out all information, including your name, dog's name and entry(s) you are paying for. Envelopes can be given to Mark Dreyfus or Yvette Thomas.
Please sign in and confirm your dogs at the tent.
Follow the status of the braces and be ready at the line should a double pick-up occur during the previous brace. Be prepared please.
A catered Judges Dinner will be held on Saturday night, if you are interested in attending, please email the number of attendees you would like included. Cost $20.00 per person. Email: [email protected]
We have several tables inside the event tent, but please bring folding chairs for seating.
With the exception of the Judges Dinner, we will not be offering food for sale.

We have a great several weeks ahead of us at Greenwood Forest. Today we ran the first Stake for the AKCHour Amateur Limited Gun Dogs. It was a hot, dry, long day but we got through it with the leadership and hard work of John Frank and crew! Thanks John for pulling together not 1 but 2 Hour regional Gundog CHs. The open Gundog CH will be Monday, a week from tomorrow. This coming Thursday the ESCA AKC trial starts with a full slate of stakes and Saturday and Sunday will include the ESCA walking Trial. John Frank and Mark Dreyfus (both pictured) will continue to lead these events. Lots of valued ESCA members joining in. It takes a big crew to make all these events happen at Greenwood. Entries close tomorrow for the coming weekend stakes so if you’re not yet registered get your entries in!
