Today, March 31, 2022, was the end of an era in Springfield. A relatively short era for us, but a long lifetime for a cat, especially if that kitty was under the care of Dr. Dena Nelson. On August 12, 2002, Dr. Nelson opened her All Cat Clinic, PC not far from the current location at 700 Corporate Court. She was determined to focus on the specialized needs of cats only; after all, they are not just small dogs and cannot be cared for in that way. Thousands of cats came through her door in the nearly 20 years that she practiced on cats exclusively, with many enjoying much longer and comfortable lives because of it. While practicing, Dr. Nelson powered through the time demands of raising two successful children, through her own health issues and through staffing challenges especially during Covid-19. She is now taking more time for herself and her aging parents by allowing the next generation of veterinarians to make the clinic building and practice their own. Please wish her well in this richly deserved lifestyle adjustment. It’s not the end of a dream, but rather the fulfillment of it.
