Joelle Update: This little old lady continues to do well. She's lost a little bit of weight, so she will be seen by a vet this week. She's loving the sunshine and being out of the shelter.

Joelle is adjusting nicely to her new life. Her fractured jaw has healed well enough that she can eat without discomfort. And, she feels well enough to make friends with an alien. Got to love a cat who is a believer!

Joelle is officially in the building! This poor old girl was found as a stray in Tucson. The shelter estimates her age to be 17 years old. She had severe dental disease and is only 5 pounds. Unfortunately, during her dental procedure, her jaw was fractured. After a few weeks in medical foster, she is now with me and will live her final days surrounded by love, sunshine and as many cat toys as she wants. This is the first of many glam photos---she's a girlie girl so she likes to play dress up.

Happy adoption update: Alex is living the good life in Utah. His new life is a far cry from sitting in a cage for 4 months at a rural animal control facility in AZ. The smile on his face tells it all. ❤

The free microchip event in Nogales, AZ was a huge success. To see so many pet owners want to chip their pets was heartwarming. Unfortunately, the turnout was so great that we ran out of chips. The plan is to have another free event in December. Stay tuned!

The most recent update on Alex is an amazing one. After being transported to my rescue partner in Utah, one of the rescue volunteers fell in love with him (no surprise there) and adopted him. So, Alex is now officially a Utah resident and living in heaven with his new family. I hope to have adoption photos to post soon. These photos are from the same day: leaving the animal control facility and then coming to my rescue where he had his choice of toys.

Hello Everyone. Just wanted to give you a quick update on Alex. I drove him to my Utah rescue partner last week. He was an angel for the entire trip. Needless to say, I had an extremely hard time saying goodbye to him. But, I know he's in the best of hands and will find his new home soon. He had his first professional photo shoot last week. How handsome is he?? ❤

In honor of Allen Alien, I returned to the animal control facility where I found him and took a dog into my care. He has been there for four long months. I named him Alexander the Great. His friends call him Alex. 😀 The plan is to get him neutered and then we will be on our way to Utah where he will be transferred to my rescue partner. I am confident he will get adopted in no time.

Sadly, Allen Alien passed away yesterday. He died right before we arrived at the ER. To say this cat was special would be an understatement. From the condition I found him in at a rural animal control facility in AZ, you could be certain his life was not an easy one. My goal was to take him to my rescue and provide hospice care. I didn't think he would last a week. Surprisingly, and happily, he lived for 52 days. 52 days of sunshine, food, comfort and love. To the very end, he was adored. RIP Sweet Allen Alien. May you find more love and happiness on your new planet.

Hello Everyone,
I apologize that I don't update this page often. I'm trying to break that habit. I just wanted you all to know that Allen Alien is doing great! When I pulled him from the animal control facility he was in, I did not expect him to last a week in the condition he was in. Today, over a month later, he is thriving. I still don't have a diagnosis but all the vets I have consulted with agree that he has something serious. He's holding steady with a variety of medications, sunshine and lots of love. Each day is a bonus day for him since 30 days ago, he was slated to be euthanized. I hope and pray he has many more bonus days to come.

A new addition will be arriving at the rescue soon. I named him Allen. His full name is Allen the Alien. He was slated to be euthanized on Thursday at a rural animal control center in AZ. The facility did not have access to veterinary care so I took Allen to my rescue. He is presently getting medical care. I will update you when or if there is a diagnosis. Poor Allen should weigh 12 pounds; instead, he's at 5 pounds.

Lucy is making some progress. She got to enjoy some outdoor time yesterday. She's still terrified and won't let me get near her but I'm sure with time, she will come around.

Hello Everyone, Please meet Lucy. She was left in an apartment with no food for two weeks. I huge 'thank you' to Pima Animal Care and Control who took her in and gave her medical care. She's not the most highly adoptable cat so she lingered in a cage and then in foster care for a while. She is now a resident of Howard's Haven where she can decompress and live out the rest of her years in peace.

Hello Everyone, It's been a while since I posted about anything so I apologize for that. First, some good news: Simon is now weighing in at over 7 pounds!! When he was found as a stray, he was barely 5 pounds, severely matted with a mouth full of rotting teeth. I am thrilled to report he has been thriving and living his best life at Howard's Haven--the name of my mini-cat sanctuary. And now, the somewhat bad news: for the past few months, I have been dealing with medical issues with two of my personal pets. Because of that, I have put any rescue work on hold until their issues have been resolved. Sadly, for one of my pets, it looks as though her last days are here. I plan to resume both cat rescue as well as transport once I know I can devote my full self to those endeavors. In the meantime, my medical fund for feral cat spay/neuters is still running and I will try to do local transport when I can. My pets come first at the moment. I hope you all understand. Thank you.

Simon update: His weight is holding steady at 6 pounds 10 ounces (up from 5 pounds when he was found.) His fur is growing in nicely and he is learning to put Jimmy in his place. 😻 I had a thyroid panel done because I suspect he might be hyperthyroid. I will keep you posted. In the meantime, Simon enjoys eating, eating, and more eating. He only stops eating when he is on the couch watching UFO documentaries with me. 👽

Hello, I have a very special update regarding Simon. After much thought and consideration (and also consulting with my family of dogs and other cats), I have decided to make Simon a sanctuary cat. Which means he will live out his remaining days at my property. His a frail guy with some more medical needs to be addressed, so I felt it was best for him to not have to adjust to another home. Please welcome Simon to our crazy crew!
