It's going to be a Brownie Photopalooza for a while because not only did he land in the best home ever, but it is so damn cute! From being in an animal control facility for over a month to shopping at Tractor Supply with a bow tie on! Enjoy the sight of a happy, happy dog.

Quick update regarding Brownie. I made it safely to Utah but we had a change of plans. Someone (a former animal shelter director) found out about Brownie and decided to do a foster-to-adopt situation. So, he went straight to a home and not into a kennel. He is doing amazingly well and I suspect the adoption will be sooner rather than later. ❤

Howard: my inspiration for starting a cat sanctuary for hospice cats passed was set free from his body that failed him. Annie's Rescue Ride started out as a dog rescue but after Howard appeared on my doorstep one day and never left, I knew I had to help all the other "Howards" out there who were abandoned and left for dead. I've had many pets in my life but few have touched my soul like Howard did. He was a gift that I will be forever grateful for. I will miss the way he made me laugh and I will forever save cats in his memory. My heart is shattered.

Brownie update: He is slowly decompressing and coming out of his shell. His vet care is done and now that he has his bath, he can have his official glam photo. He's come a long way from shelter life to sitting in a sparkle chair.

Hi, my name is Brownie. This is my sad story. I was adopted as a puppy by a nice lady. She was my only person for almost 10 years. But then she got sick and needed to live in a nursing home. I hoped the family would keep me but they brought me to a scary place instead. The shelter is run by a nice lady but she can only do so much to keep us comfortable. I was there for over a month and nobody wanted to adopt me because I would hide each time someone came near me. But then, some lady wearing an alien shirt came to take me away. I'm still sad but I'm warm and cozy in my own house with a pink door. I think Christmas came early for me.

This is Brownie. He found himself at a rural, rundown animal control facility. He sat scared and lonely for over a month with not one person inquiring to adopt him. Thankfully, the animal control officer networked the dogs on Facebook and I saw his face. I drove to New Mexico to get him and he is safe with my rescue. I will give more details about his sad story soon, but little does he know today is the first day of the rest of his happy life.

The Chief Financial Officer of Annie's Rescue Ride has a message.

Hello Everyone, Jimmy here. As the CFO of Annie's Rescue Ride, I want to thank everyone who donated on Giving Tuesday. We didn't set a goal, so we are thankful for whatever we got. And, quite honestly, I didn't set a goal because I don't know how to count so that solves that problem. The money will hopefully go towards medical care for a dog we have our eye on. More details on that next week. Thank you again for being pawsome!

Facebook removed my nonprofit status even though I am in good standing as a 501c3 and submitted the required paperwork to them. I have tried for months to get my status reinstated with no luck. So, the Giving Tuesday fundraising link is unavailable to me. If anyone feels inclined to donate, here is the link to my website. Thank you.

Joelle's soul was set free today. Her body was too worn down, too damaged, too tired. My mission with taking in senior cats with medical issues is to give them back the joy they once knew or to show them the joy they never had. And, once the will and strength to carry on wanes, I will be there so they pass with someone to give them a final kiss on the forehead. The last thing she saw, felt and heard was love.
I named Joelle after Joel to honor his memory. I cannot think of a better way to conclude this post than with a passage from one of his favorite poems.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Joelle Update: This little old lady continues to do well. She's lost a little bit of weight, so she will be seen by a vet this week. She's loving the sunshine and being out of the shelter.

Joelle is adjusting nicely to her new life. Her fractured jaw has healed well enough that she can eat without discomfort. And, she feels well enough to make friends with an alien. Got to love a cat who is a believer!

Joelle is officially in the building! This poor old girl was found as a stray in Tucson. The shelter estimates her age to be 17 years old. She had severe dental disease and is only 5 pounds. Unfortunately, during her dental procedure, her jaw was fractured. After a few weeks in medical foster, she is now with me and will live her final days surrounded by love, sunshine and as many cat toys as she wants. This is the first of many glam photos---she's a girlie girl so she likes to play dress up.

Happy adoption update: Alex is living the good life in Utah. His new life is a far cry from sitting in a cage for 4 months at a rural animal control facility in AZ. The smile on his face tells it all. ❤

The free microchip event in Nogales, AZ was a huge success. To see so many pet owners want to chip their pets was heartwarming. Unfortunately, the turnout was so great that we ran out of chips. The plan is to have another free event in December. Stay tuned!

The most recent update on Alex is an amazing one. After being transported to my rescue partner in Utah, one of the rescue volunteers fell in love with him (no surprise there) and adopted him. So, Alex is now officially a Utah resident and living in heaven with his new family. I hope to have adoption photos to post soon. These photos are from the same day: leaving the animal control facility and then coming to my rescue where he had his choice of toys.

Hello Everyone. Just wanted to give you a quick update on Alex. I drove him to my Utah rescue partner last week. He was an angel for the entire trip. Needless to say, I had an extremely hard time saying goodbye to him. But, I know he's in the best of hands and will find his new home soon. He had his first professional photo shoot last week. How handsome is he?? ❤
