Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.) is dedicated to providing assistance to abandoned and abused pets in northwest Alabama. OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to:
1. Facilitating the adoption of abandoned companion animals into permanent loving homes.
2. Raising funds to support a low-cost spay/neuter program and TNR Program
3. Establishi

ng a no-kill community for NW Alabama
4. Educating people on the compassionate treatment and care of companion animals

We are in need of cat and dog foster homes. PAWS does not have a shelter. We operate entirely out of foster homes. Fostering is an integral part of our organization as it allows us to place dogs, cats, and other abandoned, orphaned, or surrendered animals into loving homes while they wait for a permanent adoptive family. We provide support and veterinary care. The more foster homes we have, the more animals we are able to save! We do not receive any public funding and depend on donations, adoption fees, and community support to continue saving companion animals from being euthanized. Thank you for your support.

We are heartbroken to share the tragic passing of a true PAWS warrior, Joyce Mansell.

PAWS Board Member, Jenny Hill, said it perfectly, “Joyce was a friend to PAWS forever! She opened her home to any animal who needed a safe place. My heart is broken over this news."

PSA: if you are missing an old dog, it didn't necessarily go off to die, it might be with us at the shelter 😊

We have three older dogs that were brought to us as strays. They didn't make it this far in life without someone looking out for them!

Tamba was found on Cox Creek near Cloverdale Rd.

Oldilocks showed up at someone's house in Rogersville near CR 70 and 72.

Keller was found in Bailey Springs.

If you are missing a dog, of any age, please put us at the top of your list of where to check. We do not post all strays. We are often contacted by people well after stray holds are up who never thought their dog would end up at the shelter. Your neighbors might know that he or she always goes home, but the well meaning person passing through does not.

There is a containment law in the county. If your dog is known to wander or is an escapee, please make sure they are wearing a collar with your phone number on it.

Stray hold for the city is 3 days and the county is 7 days but we all want them to get back home on day 1.

HELP! We have three beautiful ladies looking to be barn/porch cats! They are not very social at the moment but will likely warm up to a caretaker and keep rodents at bay in exchange for a safe place to sleep! We have wayyy too many cats and if these girls find places to go we can move three other cats into our cat habitat, please come bust them out 🐱

TUXEDO CAT LOVERS! You will definitely want to meet this little guy! He is a 6 week old kitten who is in the process of getting all of his shots! Lyle is a drop dog from Leighton and needs a foster or forever home!
