Deck rehab! My friend’s deck needed some TLC, and I finished it today. Reinforced support boards, deck board replacements, new steps, power washing, hand sanded with a belt sander, and a fresh coat of stain. I started it a month ago, and it took 5 visits and multiple trips to the lumber yard, but it’s done! Most importantly, she’s really happy with it, and that makes me happy.

My ENGL 111-honors students are doing a basket fundraiser for Pets for Seniors as part of their service-learning project. They asked for donations from local businesses, so I obviously felt compelled to contribute. This is my basket that they will be raffling off on campus next week. They’ve worked so hard to make this fundraiser happen.

The utility closet off my kitchen had a lot of wasted and unused space. I spent weeks getting the panels ready and painted and finally put it all together earlier this week. Now there’s a designated cubby for the extra bag of dog food, my purse, and a place to hang jackets. All the dogs’ attire and accessories are in organized cubbies and there’s room to grow! (Last pic is the “before”).

Today’s “office hours.” I made some major progress on some gates.
