We need you!! Are you someone who doesn’t have a dog because you like to travel? Or maybe you don’t have the resources to commit to adopting a pet? Have you considered getting another dog but worried you might not be able to find the right match? Maybe the idea of raising a puppy doesn’t sound great, but finding a perfect dog would be kismet? Please consider being a FOSTER HOME!! We have a neverending list of dogs awaiting intake, who may end up in a shelter (or WORSE!) if we can’t find foster homes. We have experienced mentors and loads of resources and information to help you navigate this adventure, if you’d just take that first step. 👋🏼 WASR pays for all vet care and will provide many of the supplies you would need, as well as a bag of food to get you started. If you’ve always wanted an Aussie but don’t have time for puppy shenanigans, we may have the perfect match for you!!
Jiro is a beautiful 8 year old red Merle who is around 40 #. He is still pretty energetic when it comes to fetch and as some Aussies do, he gets a little obsessed. If you throw it, he will fetch it! He will settle down when play is stopped however. He tends to be a bit protective of his home and people, so his new family will want to have a plan in place for visitor greetings. He’s friendly, but can get a bit vocal and overstimulated at the door or gate.
Kumo may be your guy if you’re not a fan of a velcro dog who seeks your attention, but enjoys a short game of keep away from time to time. He is a little bigger than Jiro, and is a gorgeous blue Merle. Rather than act like a fool, he prefers to just shadow his human, choosing to show his affection by proximity without being too needy. He’s still quite energetic for a 10 year old guy and has many more years to give his forever person.
The previous owner of these two boys has developed a severe allergy and is no longer able to physically interact with them. They miss being part of the family. Neither of these boys have been around cats but they’ve helped raise human children and are trustworthy with respectful kids of any age.

Echo is the largest of these middle aged gentlemen, and he has the heart of a gentle giant. He is a unicorn, as he is basically perfect. He is friendly with other mellow dogs and loves humans of all sizes. He is respectful of cats and shows indifference to other small animals and livestock. He loves a good game of fetch but has a bit of arthritis so he will need to be monitored to keep him from overdoing it! He would play all day if you would let him. He isn’t on any medication but he takes some joint supplements. This handsome red boy is about 9 years old and over 50 #.

All of these boys are well mannered house dogs who potty outside, can be left home alone without issue, and have recently had their vet updates. If you have a fenced yard and room on your bed(or on a dog bed next to the bed), any one of these guys would fit right in. Western Australian Shepherd Rescue has transport volunteers so would consider adoption anywhere in the PNW.

Well, heck. Shadow waited at Thanksgiving and then waited through Christmas and then through the New Year. Still no home. Where is his forever family? Shadow is an easy playful guy who would love a family of his own who will fuss over him and take him for walks. Shadow is house trained and walks nicely on leash. He gets along well with other dogs. Shadow is all dressed up for Thanksgiving. All he needs is a home. Shadow is located in Buffalo, WY. He loves a good walk and likes to play but is happy to sit and watch football with you. Please help Shadow get his forever home for the holidays.

LOCATED IN WESTERN WASHINGTON!
Can anyone recommend a trainer who might be able to take on a board and train/foster dog for Western Australian Shepherd Rescue? We have a super sweet guy who has had no foundation training that, coupled with a traumatic dog park incident years ago, makes him a bit of a challenge. He’s very smart and athletic, motivated by toys, food and praise, but often reacts defensively with other dogs. He is impulsive on leash and in the house so desperately needs more work than we can provide to increase law his adoptability. The boarding kennel he’s staying in is only making it worse.

Athena & Allie are still looking for their forever homes. Six months old, spayed, microchipped, house trained and crate trained. They will not be very big dogs. 30-35lbs. Perfect size. They love to go for walks & will be great hiking buddies. They are both good with other dogs and cats. Located in Newport, WA.

Shadow is actively searching for a workout partner. A little diet and exercise will make him a whole new man. You can be his coach or his partner in this journey. Shadow is only 4 years old and has so much life to live. He is house trained and good with other dogs. Shadow is looking for an adopter or a foster. He will be heading to Washington state but we can help either way transport to wherever he needs to go to live his best life.

Puppy tamers. Looking for good deed doers who want to help socialize some rescue puppies. You will be a short term foster. If you have nothing to do or you are trying to avoid doing things you should be doing, you are a perfect candidate. Puppies are doing well with crate training and house training. They need someone with time. Located in Newport, WA but we can help with transportation.

Will be vaccinated and spayed prior to placement. If you are interested in adopting or fostering, please let me know. We can always help with transportation too.

Western Australian Shepherd Rescue needs a foster home for Arlo asap! He has been waiting in a boarding facility.
Arlo is 12 months old and good with other dogs. He loves to play. He is shy and needs some time to warm up. Arlo is located in Port Angeles, WA but we can transport him to a foster home.
